Advantages: Tasty & Great Quality.
Disadvantages: Expensive.
Weetabix is a brilliant breakfast cereal that can give to a fantastic start to the day. However, it isn't very sweet so needs a small sprinkling of sugar to make it tasty.
The packaging is very good, with a box that keeps everything together. It is very compact so it can fit inside a cupboard. The box is divided into two pieces with two sections of Weetabix. Plastic covers the section and is easy to open and also keeps the Weetabix fresh. However, pieces break off and fall out all over the place when you get some Weetabix out.
The taste is very nice with big flakes. The rectangular disks are compressed but still big enough to feel like you are getting a nice meal. They are very filling, and you won't need another meal until lunchtime if you have a couple for breakfast.
The smell is very nice and drifts into your nose so you will want to eat them. However, the disks aren't very sweet and the taste of oats overpowers the disks, so you may need to add some sugar to make them nice. The texture is very nice with a big crunch, but if you add milk, they become very soft and turn to mush.
Comparison to other brands:
Waitrose: Weetabix is more expensive, but the Waitrose option is very similar with the same sort of flakes and size. The taste is almost identical.
Tesco: Again, Weetabix is more expensive, but the Tesco option has smaller flakes, size and the taste isn't as strong.
Sainsburys: Cheaper than Weetabix but have smaller flakes and are more compressed. They also have little taste.
Best of the bunch: Weetabix has more taste, but Waitrose is almost identical with the same great taste, size and flakes but with a big cost saving.
Overall, the Weetabix are great with big flakes but aren't very sweet so you may need to add sugar. They are more expensive than the 'own' brand options, because of this, the Waitrose option is better with the same quality.
Summary: A great choice but choose Waitrose Own instead.
