Advantages: Great taste, reasonable price, made me nostalgic.

Disadvantages: Contain way too much sugar for my liking.

I recently purchased a 375g box of Weetabix Weetos Chocolate Flavour from Asda for the £2.08 and it was purely nostalgia that drew me towards the box. The design has now been modified and the crazy scientist seems to have been removed (he was definitely there in my younger days!) but apart from that I can't notice any difference with regards to the actual cereal.

The box is made from cardboard, brown in colour and shows you Weetos flying around. It has the Weetabix logo and the Weetos name plastered over it so that it's pretty easy to spot when out shopping. The cereal is packaged in a plastic bag which can be folded/crunched down to help keep the cereal fresh once opened.

Weetos are chocolate flavoured wholegrain cereal rings which are fotified with vitamins (B5, B1, B6, B2, Folic Acid & B12) as well as iron so it's great to know that you're on your way towards your healthy allowance of everything each day.

A 30g portion of cereal (recommend serving) has 113 calories and 7.1g of sugar and this is without milk so bear this in mind when having your morning cereal. It is very high in sugar (in my opinion) and is not something that I intend to eat everyday. When I spotted them I was ravenous walking the supermarket aisles looking for some inspiration and they seemed to just float off the shelf and in to my basket, which I saw as fate! Also, I never weigh my cereal out but I know for sure that I'm not having just 30g and a 125ml serving of milk (also recommend with most cereals).

I would occasionally replace a meal with dry cereal if I'm out of time/food/effort/inspiration but I don't see myself replacing a meal with this purely because of the high sugar content.

The Weetos are very crunchy and they do have a chocolate taste to them. They are sweet enough to not require milk (as I would usually do with most breakfast cereals) but they don't turn the milk very chocolatey which is a shame as this is part of the appeal to my inner child. The hoops do hold up well again milk and don't turn soggyy instantly giving me a good few minutes to wolf down my serving before I go off them.

I would recommend these as an occasional treat for little ones but it would be best if they had a measured serving and did not eat these everyday due to the alarming amount of sugar that they contain, also, to help save more calories I'd recommend these with skimmed milk (it actually doesn't taste that bad!).

I thoroughly enjoyed the cereal & the nostalgia trip but I am knocking one star off full marks because of the amount of sugar it contains.

Summary: A delicious bowl of sugary sweet ceral for satisfying those chocolate cravings.
