Advantages: Tasty dessert, not too bland, low points value.

Disadvantages: Sponge is very disappointing.

Before I met my partner I was never really into puddings but he had grown where after a main meal came pudding.

As both of us had signed up to Weight watchers after becoming a little on the tubby side I decided to have a look for some treats for us as my partner had quite a lot of points in his daily allowance I thought it an ideal way for him to fill up after his meal and use up a lot more of his points.

This review is on his favourite dessert currently produced by Weight Watchers the Banoffee Desserts which offer a 3 points value so ideal for that special treat every now and then.

The price varies for weight watchers products from shop to shop, Cooltrader and Iceland reguarly have them offer for £1 which is a reasonable price as they are quite a generous portion.

*~*What is Weight Watchers all about?*~*

Weight watchers is a healthy eating programme that is designed around 2 eating plans, points and core.
The points plan means that you are limited to portion sizes and a number of points per day this is calculated on your age, height, how active you are and your current weight.
The core plan is different and can be compared to Slimming World whereby you have 3 meals a day consisting of foods from a specific list which is meats, dairy, grains, fruit and vegetables and you have a weekly points allowance as opposed to a daily points allowance.

*~*Banoffee Desserts*~*

"A rich toffee and banana mousse on a moist toffee sponge with sweet toffee sauce and delicate curls."

This is the description on the box, sounds a bit sickly doesn't it? Well to be honest these are very sweet it is all the toffee in the product but they are still highly enjoyable if like me you do suffer from a sweet tooth.

Contained within a purple cardboard box are the 2 individual desserts which are stored in a plastic tub and sealed with a clear film seal.

I find it best to remove them from the freezer just as you are about to eat your main meal as they do need to stand at room temperature for a minimum of 10 minutes.

Once the 10 minutes is up dig in with a teaspoon and enjoy.

The first layer is delectable the toffee mousse is soft and as you hit the next layer ou reach the banana mousse before hitting the toffee sponge to the bottom and the toffee sauce drips down each layer and the anticipation all becomes to much as you put it in your mouth and the sweet taste hits you immediately.

The mousse does not have a traditional mousse texture it is more like melting ice cream than mousse which is that little bit more enjoyable and I find that they are much more enjoyable when you leave to defrost for that little bit longer.

The most disappointing part of this dessert is the base the sponge tastes nothing like sponge it has the texture of rubber and when you combine it with all the other textures and flavour the dessert starts to become a bit of a let down.

*~*Ingredients*~*

It clearly states on the box that the product contains Gluten, Wheat, Barley, Egg, Milk, Soya, and could contain traces of nuts.

I won't list the full ingredients list as I am sure that if you are looking to purchase this and wanted to know what was in it you would check before putting it in with your shopping, but expect to find a lot of ingredients that you have no idea about.

*~*Nutritional Information*~*

For my purpose mainly as I am a stickler for nutritional information and like knowing what's in the food.

The values below are per dessert:

170kcals Energy
4.0g protein
30.5g Carbohydrates
3.6g Fat
1.1g Fibre
0.1g Sodium
0.3g Salt equivilant

This is a great dessert but cannot compete with an original banoffee dessert but for someone needing a treat this is ideal and contains a really low points value.

Summary: One of the best dessert options out there.

Good review, as a diabetic, I'd be interested to know about sugar content, paul.
