Advantages: delicious, cheap, healthy, filling

Disadvantages: terribly tempting!

I'm a huge fan of Weight Watchers products, and when I discovered their frozen dessert range, I was utterly thrilled to realise that they offered a Banoffee dessert; one of my favourite flavour combinations in existence! At only £1 for two, I added them to the trolley.

On the girly packaging (most of Weight Watchers products seem to be quite feminine!), you can see a picture of what the dessert is supposed to look like; cut down the middle, the different textures seem to blend together fantastically, the sponge base sitting neatly at the bottom, with the layers of banana and toffee flavoured mousses piled deliciously on top, with the toffee sauce dribbled, tempting across the top. If it looked at all like this, it would be splendid!

I did find it a little weird that they had displayed the product in such a way, as you are suggested to eat the dessert inside the clear plastic tub it comes in. Removing the product from the cardboard box, I left it to sit at room temperature on the kitchen counter for the recommended ten minutes before consuming. By the time it was defrosted, the craving inside me had developed enormously, and I could not wait to taste. I hoped there was no disappointment!

As I removed the little plastic lid from the top of the tub and sat myself down, spoon in hand, the sweet aroma drifted towards me. I could definitely detect a delicious toffee smell, and leaning a little closer to the dessert, the banoffee scent was present too, but not as rich or powering.

When I eat foods with various layers and textures, I always seem to sample each section on its own first. Topping the dessert, the first section I spooned was the toffee mousse. I found that this frothy textured mousse was incredibly sweet, especially when drizzled with the toffee sauce! Needless to say, it tasted of toffee. It didn't taste artificial either, but quite rich in flavour. The sauce was not too sticky or sickly, and went scrumptiously with the mousse!

As I dug a little deeper, I retrieved some of the banana mousse. Thankfully, it was rich in flavour; I'd always loved the taste of bananas, and when it's combined with the texture of the soft and creamy mousse, what more could I ask for?! Sampling some of this with the toffee mousse in order to combine the sweet banoffee flavour, I found my taste buds were in a world of bliss! The distinctive taste and the creamy mousses were creating a combination to die for, and when you add the sticky toffee sauce with that, it's like a recipe fitted for the angels!

Tunnelling my spoon down to the bottom layer, I scooped some of the toffee sponge and popped it into my mouth. It was quite chewy, and I found that it seemed to be coated in a sort of sticky sweet sauce of its own, though not obvious to look at. It was quite sweet, and most likely my favourite part of the dessert! Eating all the layers together, I was filled with delight, a warm joyous feeling filling my stomach! When I polished off the entire sweet little dessert, I was left feeling pleasantly full and satisfied!

Verdict?
----------
I've always had pretty much nothing but praise for Weight Watchers products, and this one is no exception! With its phenomenal taste and exciting texture, the Banoffee Dessert is a splendid little treat!

Alright, so anything that tastes this good can't be good for you, surely?! Well, since this is a diet product, it's most certainly better for you than a normal frozen dessert! With only 154 calories per pot, and a value of 3 Weight Watchers points, you are guaranteed to be left without any feelings of negativity and guilt, but rather satisfaction and delight!

I suppose this isn't something for everybody. It's necessary that the flavour appeals to you, otherwise you are unlikely to enjoy it! Though, if you like both banana and toffee, and do not mind eating unique textures - I know many people can be put off by multiple textures! - then this is certainly worth a try!

Although aimed at adults, it would make a delicious pudding for children too, especially those with a serious sweet tooth! It doesn't take too long to defrost, compared with various other freezer desserts which can take up to two hours, so there is not impatient waiting around!

This is a delightful, sweet tasted and filling dessert, and definitely worth the price!

I love banoffee and will definitely give these a try and a great price too.

Does banana banoffee count as one of your 5 a day do you think?;)
