Advantages: taste lovely

Disadvantages: very small

I don't normally buy any of the weight watchers branded cakes, but I am not one to pass up a freebie, so when I was offered a box of these, of course I accepted.
Carrot cake isn't my first choice of cake, but I do like it on occasion. It makes me feel as though I'm being vaguely healthy by incorporating vegetables into my cake addiction.

Weight Watchers mini carrot cakes come in a box of six. They are packaged fairly well but I did notice they had subjected a bumpy ride on the way home as the cakes had managed to upturn themselves within the box. It didn't spoil the cakes though so all was good.
I have since noticed by doing a bit of research that all Weight watchers cake boxes sport a similar design of a white box with blue lines running through. The difference is of course the writing advertising the product and the picture that goes along with it.
From the box I can see my carrot cake will me a round individual cake with a layer of cream on the top. They look appetising on the box but most products do.

Despite my cakes being turned upside down, they were still intact. Perhaps the packaging could have been slightly better. Inside the box they sit on a plastic tray loosely packaged in cellophane wrapping. There is a lot of room inside the tray so they should either make the cakes bigger or the packaging sturdier.
Each cake is approximately 4-5 centimetres in diameter and nice and thick with a generous layer of butter cream on the top.
I have never bought mini cakes that actually look like cakes before; usually they are in slices or squares so this was a nice touch to actually be eating a small version of a large cake.

You can see thin strands of carrot running through the cake as you take a bite. There are a lot of flavours running through this cake, and I was happily surprised to find this due to being a Weight Watchers product. A long time ago when I was on a diet, I found the foods to be bland, so it was nice to see products have improved.
The cake itself is nice and moist, with flavours of spice, as well as savoury running through. I found that the sweetness of the butter cream worked well with the savoury of the cake and both textures mixed well together to make a nice eating sensation. I found the cinnamon on top of the cream to be slightly over powering in places, but once in my mouth it did tone down against the other flavours.

Overall these cakes were a nice change, and considering I would have never bought them myself, this was a nice treat for me. They are not the sort of cake that when you eat one you want to eat the whole box, but then this could be because it's more of a savoury cake and I don't tend to eat them anyway.
Each cake is only two points on the weight watchers scheme, so you can afford a nice sweet treat included in your points.
In nutrition terms, each cake will provide you with 120 calories and 3.3 grams of fat. The whole box will cost you £1.77 for six cakes which is slightly higher than I would normally pay for cakes, but I guess you're paying for the brand.

Summary: a nice healthy ish cake
