Advantages: Cooking suggestion means you know what you're doing
Disadvantages: Small writing and high overall in points for cooking suggestion.
A visit to Asda (as opposed to my local Tescos) to stock up on Weight Watchers food I discovered they did a range of sauces, this seemed ideal as I'm always the one eating alone.
This sauce is tikka masala with coriander, this is a medium strength tangy tikka masala sauce with a delicate mix of spices blended with yogurt and cram, and finished with aromatic coriander. The jar size is 350g, half of the jar equates to 2 points, representing 130 calories and 0.7g of saturated fat.
The serving suggestion for this (albeit in very small writing) suggests spraying a pan lightly with low fat cooking spray, add 150g (5oz) of diced skinless chicken breast and cook for 5 minutes until browned. Add half the jar of sauce, simmer gently, stirring occasionally for 20 minutes, or until thoroughly cooked. Serve with 50g (1.5oz) dried weight of basmati rice boiled according to the cooking instructions. Ensure product is piping hot throughout before serving, this gives a points value per serving of 7. You can even bulk this out further with weight watchers poppadoms or naan breads.
This product does contain milk and may contain traces of nuts or sesame seeds. Product should be kept in a cool dry place. Product life is well over 12 months - so good staple for keeping in the cupboard.
Unlike wth sweet and sour sauce with was more sour than sweet, this is a pleasantly tasting product - I do feel at a points value of 7 this starts to push on the high side particulary if you add the naan, however treats are always nice - and you could put this in that catagory.
Summary: Nice for a treat

- 25/05/09 As an ex WW I have to say that its no wonder the product has such a high value of points. If it contains milk then that's where the added points come into it, and surely you're not going to use the whole jar in just one serving? Is this an expensive product to buy? Does it smell enticing/ |
