 ... by how runny the jam itself was. Within the jam were pieces of cut ginger, so they were evidently chopped instead of grated, as I was rather expecting (is that a strange thing to expect?). The jam has just enough viscosity to support the pieces, but once on hot toast, melts into the bread, causing it look like orangey lumps scattered on toast, rather than a regular jam that can hold its own. I love ginger. Anything ginger flavoured I'll try. If it's ginger, I'll like it...hell, I even like the ginger one from Girls Aloud. I must have inherited it from my Nan, when her obsession with the flavour, more or less forced me to try crystalised ginger covered in chocolate, for the first time. Love it. On one of my Tesco shops, I came across a jam I had never heard of before (drum roll, please)...Ginger Jam, or rather Ginger fruit spread. It went in my trolley without thinking.
