Advantages: cheap for half price offer
Disadvantages: sickly sweet and a nasty aftertaste
Willy wonka triple dazzle caramel
I thought, going into Wilkinson’s one nice Saturday morning, that I would treat myself to a chocolate bar that I had never tasted before, and I came across the will wonka triple dazzle caramel bar – for half the price that it usually sells for, so I was really chuffed at that, a new chocolate bar for a cheaper price, equals a very happy me.
The packaging
This packaging is bright orange and a marron-purpley colour. Without the half price sign on it, it has big white fancy writing on it and at the side of it, a sign saying 5 golden tickets to be found. Have you ever seen the Charlie and the chocolate factory film, the old version, where he has a chocolate bar, the wrapper reminds me of that a little. It’s a long rectangular shape and has patches of gold colouring upon it.
On the back of the bar, is the price bar, the best before end, the ingredients, the address of the manufacturer and terms and conditions of the 5 golden tickets competition. This chocolate bar is made by nestle and has advertisements on the back with village roadshow pictures logo and Warner bros pictures on it. This wrapper needs to e disposed of in a bin when finished with and has a re-useable sign on it. Can chocolate bar wrappers actually be re-used? Or recycled?
I have now had enough of looking at the packaging, and so I will proceed to open the bar and look at the chocolate (remember in reviews, the tasting comes last – which is a nuisance)
The chocolate bar
Opening the chocolate bar, I get an aroma of white chocolate, like milky button chocolate, and looks like white chocolate squares. There are five pieces in this bar, and out of five rectangles, only one of them has caramel squirting out of it. Breaking off one piece of the chocolate and studying it, it’s about 1cm by 1cm piece. It is deeper at the bottom, then it becomes a little narrower toward the top. I can see the caramel faintly, as it is darker where the caramel is.
Picking up the square, the chocolate is soft and squidgy, but firm, if you put it into the fridge, it should set to rock solid.
The taste
Ahhh my favourite part, the taste test. The things us reviewers have to do for you. Be grateful, I am testing to see if there are any poisons upon this chocolate.
My teeth biting into this piece, I taste mainly milky bar buttons, with a hint of mars bar caramel. Very sickly but yet so delicious. It’s gooey and melts on the tongue. By my second piece, things are turning really sickly sweet, so not exactly for someone who doesn’t have a sweet tooth. The caramel is starting to stick to my teeth as well. By my third piece, I give up eating the last two pieces and give it to my sister. She loves it. Not something for me with a sweet tooth, because it makes me feel a little ill now. It leaves my mouth feeling dry and doesn’t have a very nice aftertaste.
Recommendations
Overall, I give this bar 4 out of 10. Mainly because it was only 21p for a bar of chocolate, although if it had been its original rice of 45p, I wouldn’t have brought it. I recommend this for children with sweet teeth, as there aren’t any e numbers in the ingredients as it states. Adults with sweet tooth’s, I recommend this for you as well.
Prices and availability.
I brought mine from Wilkinson’s, and have seen these around places like Tesco’s and Asda for around 40-50p. They seem to be going out of stock and fashion now though, as I haven’t seen them around as much as I used to.
Note: there are many different types of the wonka bars and the only other one I have seen around trowbridge is the nutty surprise. I didn’t buy this one due to not liking nuts.
Thanks for reading

- 29/10/05 I found these too sweet and expensive for the size of bar. And I did not get a golden ticket. |
