Advantages: Nice nice nice ! Good for people with nut allergies, as there arent any nuts !
Disadvantages: A bit processed, good for once in a while
Mmmm, chocolate! Give me a bar of chocolate and I'm away! I love them all: Galaxy, Dairy Milk, Mars bars, Twix, Whispa… the lot! I'm not really a nut-in-chocolate kind of person though; I'd rather have either just nuts or just chocolate.
But anyway, I was on holiday at Woolacombe bay with lots and lots of people. My sister in law Susie and her husband Tom were staying with Phil (my husband) and me, when one day we noticed a massive bar of Wonka chocolate in the fridge. How it got there, no one knows.
Picture the scene: you're hungry and hung-over from dancing until 3 a.m the night before. You woke up at 0600 hours to go surfing. You come back 3 hours later wet, cold and even hungrier than you were when you woke up. There isn't time for breakfast as the rest of the group had decided to book a spa to relax in. Things get in the way of having a good meal, like playing pool, or swimming in the pool. It's now 1800 hours and the only food you have available is a tin of beans and a fajita packet spice mix. I'm assured these aren't a good combination. We check our wallets for money. There is none. We venture outside in search of friends with food. They are nowhere to bee seen. After much deliberation, we opened the packet and tucked into our 'dinner'.
______ What Does it Look Like? ______
The packaging is rather bog standard, the usual foily stuff. It's quite thick which gives the bar a more luxurious feel to it. The wrapper is red and has the name 'WONKA' written in white letters, reminiscent of the actual film. The flavour of the bar is written underneath 'Nutty Crunch Surprise'. When I purchased one of these bars there was a gold promotional competition on, I can't remember what it was exactly but this was very prominent on the wrapper.
It's very shiny and does its job well, is nicely presented and very tempting. There are 2 sizes, the large bar which weighs in at an impressive 150g and the smaller, ordinary ones, I think they're about 45g each, but I'm not too sure.
The foil is easily ripped open and keeps those pesky little chocolate flakes at the bottom of the pack where they belong.
Not a bad effort.

______ How Does it Smell? ______
The smell for starters is unexpected. Very chocolatey, with a slight nutty aroma BUT it also has a caramel tang to it, which is quite strange as there isn't any caramel in this bar! It actually smells like a Twix mixed with Snickers mixed with a bag of KP nuts. Overall, it's not bad. It smells like chocolate, but slightly more processed than usual, which is never a good thing. I suppose because it's aimed at children they didn't really bother with the taste so much! Not as nice as Galaxy or even Dairy Milk.
Could do better.

______ Well, What's it Like? ______
So, the first bite? Surprising. On munching my way through a good few chunks I realised… there aren't any nuts at all (much to my delight)! It's filled with a creamy-like, foamy nut flavoured filling. The only way I can describe it is like Nutella, but whipped. There are no nut derivatives and no nut pieces in this product or any stages of its production. I suppose it would be great for people with nut allergies as they get the taste of nuts without the swelling. Its gelatine free too, so good for vegetarians.
The chocolate isn't too bad at all. It's creamy and rich and quite addictive but again has that mass-manufactured twang.
There's a few biscuit pieces too, one in each individual piece of chocolate, which I suppose make the crunchy bit (giving everyone the impression there's chunks of peanut stuck right in the middle). These also taste a little mass-manufactured, but then what do you expect?
There is an aftertaste with this bar. It leaves a slightly bitter taste. The nut-substitute doesn't taste so well once it's gone down either. It would be handy to have a glass of water with you as it also made us quite thirsty.
Needs improving, but good effort.

______ Tell Me About the Storage! ______
This product should be stored away from strong flavours. It can be stored in two ways:
1. In the fridge, giving it the crunchy tooth breaking, fresh feel or
2. Left out on the side for that gooey, chewy feel.
I personally prefer it left out as the chocolate gets too brittle and the flavour is seriously reduced. The foamy nut stuff also gets really cold and isn't pleasant to eat. By the time we'd taken the product out of the fridge and eaten a few chunks each it had drops of water on the bar (I assume it was condensation!) and mid-packet it had started to go soft.
______ What Do You Think? ______
All in all, it's a great bar for once in a while, a nice novelty. I suppose it's nicest for the kids as it makes them feel like they're part of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory™ hype. But by the time we'd finished the pack we did feel quite sick and the taste of the foamy stuff had gotten unbearable for me and Susie. Phil and Tom seemed to like it, but I'd rather stick to Galaxy!
Summary: Not a bad bar of chocolate, but tastes too processed.
