Advantages: Great tasting and healthier than many other snacks!
Disadvantages: Red fingers (read the review)!!
If you have taste buds like mine that can withstand a good burn or two from spicy food`s then you like me may find that the Flamin hot wotsits from Walkers are right up your street.
I was never a lover of cheesy wotsits I always found them to be too cheesy (DOH, what did I expect). I usually like my crisps to be full of flavour but cheesy wotsits had just gone too far or perhaps I was not as bg a fan of cheese as I thought because with the prawn cocktail and flaming hot flavours they have also gone overboard on the flavouring stakes but they are delicious.
Most snacks that claim to be spicy actually tend not to be at all but Walkers flaming hot wotsits could burn the tongue from the winner of an extra hot curry eating competition. Each delicious wotsit is completely covered with this very strong but very nice tasting flavouring and although they do burn the tongue and most of the rest of the inside of your mouth you can still appreciate the excellent flavour.
I first tried flaming hot wotsits because they were in the multi pack my better half had purchased and no one else was eating them so I gave them a go. My first thought was simply WOW they are hot but as I got used to the initial nip I began to realise that there was a lovely flavour lurking behind the nip and it was one I really enjoyed and still do.
I find it almost impossible to explain the flavour but my best effort is to say that it has a sort of distant beefy flavour perhaps one of beef doused in black pepper with various other spices thrown in for good measure. However I try to describe it, it would never be quite right so my best advice would be to grab a bag and try for yourself.
They can be purchased as I have already mentioned in multi packs containing the other flavours also (cheesy and prawn cocktail) or in single packets priced around 40p they are also available in walkers grab bag sized packets in some places, these are 50g packs which cost around 60p and are crammed full with loads more fiery wotsits.
The packets look like the other wotsit flavours only the wording and the pictures are in bright red to portray the fiery snacks inside. They are available in most convenience stores in single pack form and in most supermarkets in multi pack form so make sure if you haven't already that sometime soon you go out and grab a pack and give your taste buds a red hot treat.
The good thing about this snack is that just like its cheesy counterparts it is quite low in calories and is also now lower in salt content so they not only taste delicious but are also not as bad for you as many other snacks on the market.
The only thing left for me to say now is that you should be careful when eating these and always have a cloth or a bay wipe near to hand because the flavouring comes off onto your fingers and even though you lick it off it still leaves your fingers red in colour.
There is another option though you could eat them my way.... Open packet tilt back head and pour into mouth, allow delicious snack to melt in your mouth then swallow and re-load!!
Thanks for reading!
