Advantages: live , organic, tasty
Disadvantages: more expensive than some other yoghurts
I bought a pack of 4 yeo valley fats free live organic yoghurts from Tesco yesterday cost £1.55p for 4 yoghurts. I bought the summer selection there is also a tropical treats flavoured pack of 4. (Pineapple & mango, guava & orange,)
The pack of 4 came in a card sleeve with pictures of a green field and trees on it there were clear individual pictures of the fruits that flavour the yoghurt too. Each yoghurt pot is a very thin plastic container . The yoghurt it sealed in the pot by a foil lid this is easy to remove wash then recycle.
In my pack of four there was a strawberry yoghurt a raspberry one a rhubarb one and a plum one. Each pot contains 125 g.
I chose a strawberry one to eat I peeled the top of and smelt the yoghurt it was a sour cream smell lightly strawberry flavour, hubby choose the plum one that smelt similar but of plum.
I dipped my spoon into the yoghurt, it was fairly thin yoghurt not as creamy and thick as many I have eaten. It was still slightly creamy.
It tasted lovely a mild light yoghurt flavour with the taste of real fruit not synthetic at all. The fruit flavour was not too sweet, just right for me.
This pack of yoghurts is live which means the bacteria that made it have not been killed in the manufacturing process.
Research has found this type of bacteria (Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacteria) good for the gut. It helps clear up Candida which although present in everyone’s gut can give some people symptoms like thrush.
These yoghurts are suitable for vegetarians. They are organic, and have a certificate from the soil association. I like this as I prefer to eat organic and believe that what we put in the soil is transmitted to the things that grow on it so prefer no chemicals are used on the soil.
There are no artificial preservatives or additives to this yoghurt and no artificial sweeteners.
Fat free well almost 0.1 g per 100g. Carbohydrates about 14g per 100g.
These yoghurts tasted good and made me feel that they had been produced in a way that was friendly to the environment. They are good for my health. I will buy and eat them again even though they are a little more expensive than some other yoghurt. (But isn’t that always the way with organic / free range foods.)
These are live yoghurts so could be used to make yoghurt at home in a yoghurt maker or flask, have to check up how to do that though its ages since I made yoghurt.
I eat dry cereal in the morning and often add yoghurt instead of milk. Yoghurts are super to eat with fresh fruit instead of cream. They are ideal to take to work for lunch.
Yeo valley makes many other varieties of yoghurt which I like .The website http://www.yeo-valley.co. has lots of info on their other ranges and a children’s page with lots of activities.
Thanks for reading, hopefully eating fat free yoghurts will help me lose weight (as long as I can keep off the chocolate)
Summary: live fat free (well nearly ) yoghurts
