Karl Lagerfeld Sun Moon and Stars Eau de Toilette
by thriftygiftyisme
= Sun Moon and Stars for Women Eau de Toilette Spray =
Sun, Moon and Stars is a fragrance by Karl Lagerfeld for woman, and it comes as an Eau de Toilette Spray.
I first discovered these fragrance about 20 years ago, and I still like it now and try to get a bottle when I find one that is reasonable ... priced.
=The Bottle=
The bottle was the unique selling point of the time, it is a strong dark blue glass sphere, which has been embossed with raised designs of sun, moon and stars. To use it has a spray mechanism, and this is covered with a gold top, The top rather lets the rest of the design down.
=The Scent=
Top Notes - Rose, Lily of the Valley ad Carnation - a very sweet flowery smell/
Mid Notes - Jasmine, Orange Blossom and Pineapple - a mixed fragrance
Base Notes - Musk and Sandal wood - Deep tone to the perfume
Although each set of notes produce their own scents, overall it is a light floral scent, but the musk and the sandal wood bring a deep element to the perfume. I would say that the scent lasts about 5 hours on me.
=Price=
The price does vary on this, from £8 to £45 for 100ml bottles during my internet search
A quick web search has brought up a widely differing set of prices.
=My Thoughts=
Even though this perfume is over 25 years old, it is a modern classic and has held its place in time. I like the perfume, and it one I would recommend if you like a floral smell.
=Just find me a nice priced bottle=

Hermes Terre d'Hermes Eau de Toilette
by kahluafan
I've been wearing Terre d'Hermes for about 2 years now, going through 200ml in that time span.
I've been using it fairly frugally as it's a fairly strong scent, maybe using it 2-3 times a week, but it's still seemed to have lasted. 2 sprays is more than enough, any more and it's over-powering!
It's a woody, spicy ... scent with basenotes of Oakmoss, and is ideally suited to an intimate evening dinner or a night out if your looking to impress. The top notes of grapefruit and orange, with middle notes of pepper and pink pepper give it a lighter smell after being worn for a while. Plenty of people (female, and male!) have complimented it, and it has a distinctly unique aroma, so it won't be confused with the more 'common' male colognes like Boss or Calvin Klein. My girlfriend loves smelling my scarf when I've been wearing this all day - she's not weird or anything I should add...
You can find the 50ml for around £30-35, or the 100ml is slightly more expensive at around £70-80, but as I've said, it does last. Read the complete review |

Emporio Armani Diamonds Intense Eau de Parfum
by Chippytarka
I have to admit to being very naughty.I was given this as a gift from a friend who lives overseas acouple of years ago, and it was slung in the draw ever since. I didnt take it out and use it because Im not that familar with the fragrance, and to be truthful forgot all about it. Having exhausted my usual fragrances over the last couple ... of months and needing a change, I decided to bring this one out of the dark into the light.I wish I had done it sooner.....
Who or what is Emporio Armani?
Emporio Armani was founded by Giorgio Armani and Sergio Galeott. Giorgio being an Italian fashion designer concentrated more on the menswear side before stepping forward representing womenswear. The first fragrance introduced from the Emporio Armani collection was in 1982 and today this has expanded to a further 70plus fragrances, such as Armani Code, Idole, Elle ( just to name a few ).
How is this fragrance packaged?
The fragrance is 50ml in size. The bottle is made of glass with a nearly square shaped metal spray dispenser top that you push to release the fragrance. The bottle itself is not quite circular in shape nor oval ( alittle stuck in between ) that is faceted all around which very much gives it a ' diamond ' look and I can only imagine a diamond type feel to it also. In the middle of the bottle, there is a flat octagon shape with the Emporio Armani logo on it. Very simple, very clean looking. On the back of the spray dispenser top is the fragrance name and some of the scents included in it which is raspberry, rose and vanilla.
How does this fragrance smell?
To me this smells quite classic in scent. And despite it being a female fragrance I feel it has some masculine elements to it. I can smell a freshness to it and a woodiness.Yet is has a warmth and sweetness to it ( Vanilla ). Full of depth, definitely not one dimensional and one of those fragrances were less is more. One of my favourite types of fragrances are the ones that are strong, pack a punch and have a sweetness to it without being too girlie.Im not the biggest fan of floral led scents and this thank god isnt one of them.Powerful is definitely a word I can use with this one as you can overdo it.Use too much and it will be overwhelming but I love it! Maybe something that bares more to night time use than day time, but I wear what I like whenever I like!
Top notes-Lychee, raspberry
Heart notes-Rose, lily of the valley, patchouli, freesia
Base notes-Vetiver, amber, vanilla
What do I think of this fragrance?
Its beautiful, and wish I had discovered it sooner. I find the fragrance easy and enjoyable to wear and gives me a slight lift of confidence as it makes me feel good, which is important. It lasts long on me, and I only add more to myself not out of need but out of want.
If this fragrance was a woman, I would describe her as strong, timeless, assertive with a head for business and a heart for passion.Shes direct and doesnt take no for an answer, but has a soft and warmth to her personality.
Not a fragrance for someone who doesnt want to stand out.
I didnt buy this myself, but doing a check online it is readily available, and on average the 50ml size is around £40.00-50.00 mark.Great purchase. Read the complete review |
