DKNY Pure Eau de Parfum
by Samantha82
A few years ago I was looking around for a fresh daily wear perfume as I had grown bored of my J'Adore eau de toilette. It was then that I came across DKNY Pure and I have never looked back since.
Packaging
I am a bit a bit of a perfume bottle magpie to be honest and I have in the past bought perfumes mainly for ... the bottle! However, don't expect a fancy bottle with DKNY pure. Instead, it comes in a sleek, simple bottle. It is simply a frosted glass bottle with a plain lid but I quite like that it suits the ethos of the perfume.
The product
Well first off the most important thing about any perfume is the smell and this is where this perfume excels. It has a fresh vanilla scent and according to the DKNY website "accords of lotus flower and Bulgarian rose harmonize with jasmine, freesia, and lush orchid. It finishes with warm amber and creamy sandalwood" - which is a pretty accurate description although it is not a woody scent in any way and is instead nice and fresh. I don't like heavy perfumes as they remind me of my mum so this the perfect smell for me I can wear it daily or for a night out so it is very versatile.
The vanilla used is also ethically sourced in collaboration with the CARE project which in an initiative designed to support women in Uganda which was part of the reason I was drawn to it in the first place.
Price
At just over £30 for a small bottle and £60 for the larger size it is standard price for a perfume and as far as I can see well worth the money. Read the complete review |

Cacharel Anais Anais Eau de Parfum
by anwar7
Just after Christmas I was in my local Boots browsing the sale items. I was attracted to a box containing several well known brands of miniature perfumes including a tiny bottle of Anais Anais. A close friend always wears this perfume and it smells lovely on her, so I was keen to try it for myself.
Anais Anais is from the ... French house of Cacharel who also produce upmarket clothing. The company was created by Jean Bousquet in 1962 in Nimes. The perfume is said to represent purity and innocence.
My small bottle is white opaque glass with a tiny silver stopper. The ;larger bottles are also made of white glass but have a white plastic pull of top and are not so attractive as far as I am concerned. The larger bottles have a spray nozzle. The bottle is very feminine and has pictures of lilies on its label.
This is a very sweet, floral fragrance. The top notes are hyacinth, orange blossom, lavender and bergamot. The middle notes are jasmine, carnation, tuberose and iris and the base notes are leather, sandalwood, amber and patchouli. This is a perfume with reasonable staying power, although it doesn't last all day on me as some other perfumes do.
I really wanted to like this perfume and fully expected I would do. It smells lovely on my friend and is her signature scent. However I am aware that perfumes can smell very differently on each person. I have been really disappointed with this perfume. It is just far too sweet and floral heavy on my skin. Although this is aimed at younger women; to me it smells like something a very elderly person would wear. It certainly doesn't have any hint of the light and sophisticated fragrance I was hoping for.
If you want to try this for yourself then it is widely available. In Boots a 30 ml bottle will cost you £14.99. It is also available in 50 and 100ml sizes. Unfortunately this is not one for me and I have given the rest of my bottle to my friend. Read the complete review |

Montblanc Legend Femme Eau de Parfum
by topsyturvy
I was walking through John Lewis the other week and was browsing around their perfume counter when a woman asked if I wanted to try a new fragrance called Legend by Montblanc. It's not a brand I am familiar with for fragrance but moreso pens so this was new to me but I couldn't say no as I was curious as to how it was. I wanted to decide ... on it so she gave me a sample to take away with me so I could use it a bit more and really decide if I liked it enough. I have never tried a perfume by them before, there is a man's one but this one is called Legend Pour Femme so it has just been launched this year as well.
PACKAGING
This packaging is really nice, it comes in a pink metallic box which is very girly and does stand out right away. It is in a clear glass bottle with a textured glass effect on it and with pink liquid inside. The silver metal lid works well to create a contemporary but classy looking bottle design which works very nicely and embossed into the lid is the word Montblanc which is really nice. It isn't the kind of bottle which stands out a lot but I do think it works for the brand and I quite liked the elegance of the bottle. You can clearly tell the men's and women's fragrance from each other and this is what is nice about it, clean looking but classic.
MONTBLANC LEGEND POUR FEMME EDP
So, upon the first spray of it, it did seem quite strong and apparent right away which I wasn't sure of as for me it came across overpoweringly orange and for me this isn't the best scent. It reminds me of something I have sprayed before but you really don't need to spray much on at all as it lingers and stays when it is on. It struck me as quite a mature scent when I had it on, really different though but a bit too fruity maybe and not at all what I was expecting it to be. It is quite strong but at the same time not too heavy that it is really old, it is a difficult one, I find it hard to see past the orange to pick up on the other notes with this.
Looking further into the other notes and what else this is made of, I found out that this had base notes of musk powder which is not really that easy to smell and the heart note is orange blossom which is very obvious as that is all I can smell. The top note of this is pear which again doesn't seem clear but I suppose thinking that it comes across as fruity then I can see it. This is not made up of many notes which is not what I usually see as some have too many notes but maybe they wanted it to be mainly fruity and quite minimal. The notes work but I wish I could pick up more on the musk to give a bit more balance overall.
I found even after having this on for a few hours that the musk still didn't really stand out much more. It is a scent which would be good for daytime more than anything or a daytime date, it isn't much of an evening scent but is quite a fun fragrance to wear at work or anywhere like that. It is an uplifting scent and could be worn by any age group really, if you can wear it. I like a scent with a bit more depth so to me I just couldn't seem to like this as all I can smell is the orange even though it is describe as being a floral fruity scent I just don't notice the florals. It does stay on well once it is sprayed on in the morning and has good lasting power.
It would be a nice scent if I was given it as a gift and for work and day time occasions, I'd happily wear this but one spray would be enough for me. It just isn't my kind of scent but if you love a fruity scent then this would be perfect for you to wear. It has a great image overall and it is nice but just in terms of what I like to wear it is a bit strong for me too. The bottle design is my favourite thing about it as I love the texture on the glass and the way the pink hue shines through the bottle. I don't think after trying this that it has made me anymore interested in Montblanc in terms of fragrance but it was nice to sample this scent.
COST
I tried this fragrance in John Lewis but it is available for purchase in all department store. The Perfume Shop are selling the 30ml for £28.50 and the 50ml is £44.50 and lastly the 75ml for £61.50.
