Rihanna Reb'l Fleur Eau de Parfum
by spacered
I got this as a christmas gift when it was on sale because since it is Rihanna, it was quite pricy :) I think it was about 40 Euros on sale. I didn't mind at all though because it smells just so amazing! It's kind of like smelling flowers with a fragrance. It isn't a flowery nature smell at all, but it reminds me of a Rebel flower, like ... a teenager. It has a very different smell I can't explain. It isn't too strong, it is just perfect. The smell isn't too soft so that it doesn't bore you after a while. To me, every time I smell it, it still reminds me of being excited to use it the first time I opened the box :) It came in a box with Rihanna's cover on it and the packaging was great. It was not overboard that it made me go Wow but it was perfect. The bottle has its own, unique shape and I love it. I spray this only 2 times on my chest area, and the whole day the smell is still there. It stays on for so long, I barely ever go, I should probably carry a small perfume with me. And if you spray it on your clothes, the smell doesn't go away until you wash it the next time. It is just such good quality and the smell is adorable. I got so many compliments and the one I remember the most is when I was standing and it was quite windy outside. This guy said, that perfume smells so nice where is it coming from? And all the girls would just point at me. Ha ha thank you Rihanna! Like I said, I got it as a present for Christmas and I think it has been a year now and I am still using it! Definitely a good purchase. Read the complete review |

Avon Ice Sheers Refreshing Eau de Toilette
by emmad5689
I bought this perfume from Avon simply because I liked the look of it in the brochure, daft I know but the bottles in lemon, green and lilac all looked really fruit and summery. As this is an Avon product you can only buy it from their online store or from one of their Avon representatives, the bottle cost me £5 but Avon's prices always ... vary depending on what offer they have on at the time.
The perfume comes in a frosted glass bottle with simply Ice Sheers up the side of it but sort of raised out from the glass which I think is really effective, even though the glass is frosted it is still easy to see the strong yellow colour inside the bottle. The bottle has a simple push on top covering the pump which dispenses the spray and the bottle provides you with 50mls of the product.
The perfume is supposed to be made up of pear, melon and vanilla however I personally think it has a smell of lemons in it. When you spray the perfume it comes out of the bottle really well and you get a great spray, you can smell the pears straight away and it reminds me of the smell of pear drops. Once the perfume begins to calm a little I would say after about 5 minutes or so I can smell lemons and this is the scent which stays with me I feel until the perfume wears off. I usually really like the scent of vanilla but I am unable to pick it up in this perfume at all.
The perfume has staying power of around 3-4 hours on my skin which isn't the best I have had however for a perfume which worked out at £1 per 10mls I think this is actually pretty decent and for the price I paid I don't mind reapplying. You don't need to use much of this perfume at any time and I actually find it a little sickly smelling if I spray too much on so I stick with a squirt on my neck and a squirt on my wrists which is ample.
This a decent perfume and I would say it is a lovely light summery smell, I think it is great value but it can be overpowering so I would advise using it sparingly until you find a level you like. Read the complete review |

Avon Aromadisiac Her Eau de Toilette
by fizzywizzy
This unusual scent from Avon came into my possession as a gift. I'm not much of a fan of Avon scents and I don't really care for people buying me perfume as I am quite particular in what I like. I don't believe that the scent was chosen with me in mind so it was pure luck that I tried Aromadisiac and loved it, in spite of what is a most ... bizarre composition of individual notes that shouldn't work (this too probably being a stroke of luck).
From the packaging I had the impression that this would be a heavy scent but while it's certainly not light and fresh, neither is it oppressively heavy. The dark red/purple bottle seems to me the perfect colour to represent this scent and if it wasn't for the cheap plastic lid, you'd easily believe that this was a more expensive, higher quality product.
I probably wouldn't have tried this scent had it not been the case that I was able to get a faint whiff without even depressing the pump: the fragrance was slightly sweet and a touch spicy but with an intriguing note of orange blossom thrown in. It was odd, but enticing.
'Aromadisiac' is one of those scents that you'll either love or hate: I can't imagine many people feeling ambivalent about this one, mainly because it doesn't comfortably fall into any obvious scent classification and has elements of floral and oriental fragrances as well as a few masculine characteristics. It really is a mixed bag of seemingly discordant notes but one that works against the odds.
The scent opens with jazzy pink peppercorns and something citrusy - not as strong as orange (it's many miles from Hugo Boss Orange, for example), perhaps tangerine because it is more delicate and veering towards the floral than full on orange. In spite of these quite noisy and vibrant elements of the opening there is, at the same time, a warmth and depth that I wouldn't expect to detect so early on. This, however, is one of characteristics of this scent that I find so memorable and fascinating: 'Aromadisiac' just don't do what you'd expect. There's a back ground of warm sensual amber in evidence long before the base notes would develop in most scents. It's certainly not unwelcome, at least as far as I'm concerned, because I love the fragrance of amber.
With the potency of the amber and the presence of vanilla from the outset you could expect this to be a heavy scent. It's not unlike Thierry Meugler's 'Angel' but while that one seems to me to be cloying and overbearing, 'Aromadisiac' has these light notes that break up the heavier elements and after the burst of delicious pink pepper in the opening, the other notes are constantly present, rather than developing gradually.
There's lovely orange blossom which almost dances with summery freshness and though it's not specifically mentioned by Avon, I pick up dashes of jasmine. The presence of unlisted notes that are definitely distinguishable is the chief characteristic of this hotch potch fragrance. I'm not alone in picking out liquorice and leather, both of which strike me as more masculine elements but overall this is a rather feminine fragrance. On the other hand sandalwood which I usually find quite distinctive is listed among the base notes, but I can't pick it up at all.
Although the florals do add a much needed counterbalance to the vanilla and amber this still strikes me as more of a winter fragrance than one for summer because the base notes appear very quickly remain strong to the end.
As far as longevity goes 'Aromadisiac' knocks spots of some of the more costly competition. Since they are relatively cheap I don't usually moan about having to re-apply those Avon perfumes I do like but 'Aromadisiac' lasts and lasts, possibly too long as it clings to clothes and one application, once in contact with a woollen scarf, will linger all winter.
The projection is poor, however, but since this is a fragrance that seems to divide opinion, that's perhaps not such a bad thing since it stays close to the wearer and isn't likely to offend anyone nearby.
This eau de toilette (and for an Avon edt I can't stress enough how good the staying power is) is more like a true perfume than anything else I have tried from Avon's fragrances. It's certainly more creative and complex. Like the best Avon fragrances it's been discontinued: the company seems to make a habit of doing that with their most interesting scents. Happily it can still be purchased online through the likes of Amazon and E-Bay from as little as £4.99 for a boxed 50ml bottle. It can also be purchased as a body spray or a mini 'rollette' which is good for handbags or to take when travelling.
I'd expected to be re-gifting or charity shop-ing this fragrance so it came as a nice surprise to find that I really liked it. I know it's not for everyone but anyone who is tempted can pick up a bottle without breaking the bank to find out. Read the complete review |
