Beckham Signature Women Eau de Toilette
by cyberem78 After receiving a three set gift pack of Victoria Beckham perfumes I've been testing them out one by one. My pack contained mini 15ml versions of Beckham Intimately, Beckham Intimately Yours and Beckham Signature. Of all of them I thought that this Signature looked the most appealing. The packaging for this perfume is a ... glossy purple box inscribed with a floral pattern. The purple colour is feminine but it doesn't look girly which is why I think it could be visually appealing to a lot of different types of woman. I also like the shape of the box. Whereas the other perfumes in the set came in short, square boxes and bottles this Signature is in a tall bottle, making it look like there is a lot more perfume inside than there really is. The bottle shape is also preferable to the shape of the other perfumes in the set. The glass of the bottle is heavy and thick but the bottle is shaped so that you can easily carry it around in a handbag. The bottle carries the floral print from the packaging, making the perfume look very exclusive. It also has a silver plaque attached to the front of the bottle with the perfume title stamped onto it. This silver matches that of the lid of the bottle where the Beckham's regal logo is etched. Overall it looks really beautiful and, pardon me for saying so, posh! The packaging doesn't supply much information about the perfume. There is instead a website address printed on the back of the box: www.beckham-fragrances.com where you can find out more about the whole range. Apart from this the packaging is printed with full ingredients, distributor information, estimated shelf life and the 'Coty' logo, which is the brand behind this perfume. Having a look online it tells me that they make this perfume in a his and hers variety. The perfume is described as having "notes of anise flower and candy apple" combined with "orchid and heliotrope...[and] soft vanilla" with a base of "patchouli, amber and musk". The blend of fragrances and ingredients sounds impressive and convinces me that a lot of thought and passion went into producing this. The bottle has a pump dispenser and it sprays out a fine spritz of eau de toilette about eleven inches in length. It's easy to target the areas of the body where you wish to apply the perfume. The perfume has a sharp fruity fragrance initially which quickly settles down as it warms into the skin. After this the scent is rich and multi-layered. The fruitiness feels fresher and reminds me of a sugary cocktail of passion fruit and apple juice or cider. There is a low, smoky musky base which offsets the wild fruity flavours and which makes the scent feel more sophisticated and mature. There are also obvious notes of amber in there. Every time I smell the fragrance I feel like I'm sensing something new and delicious. It's a really pretty scent which doesn't overwhelm with old fashioned florals. It feels really lively and fun although I think it is suitable for all ages and personalities. The fragrance makes me think of bright, summery scenes of happiness and freedom. This is a perfume that once I've sprayed it on I can't stop smelling myself it's so good! I never thought I'd be celebrating a Victoria Beckham fragrance as I'm not usually a fan of celebrity fragrances but this one is gorgeous and by far the best fragrance in the Beckham collection that I've tried so far. I'm very happy to have received this as a gift and I'd love to buy this again in the future. If anyone is venturing into buying one of the Beckham Hers fragrances then it's this one I'd recommend trying first. I also think this really does make an excellent gift as it looks so well designed and I think the fragrance itself would have a wide appeal. You can also buy accompanying products in the Signature range scented with this perfume. Read the complete review |

Yves Saint Laurent Nu Eau de Parfum
by MollyWH I had never actually heard of the fragrance Nu by Yves St Lauren until I came across a bottle of it on eBay for the bargain price of £1.44. At that price, I figured I had to buy it as even if I didn't like the smell, I could use it as air freshener. About Nu Nu was launched in 2001 and Sophie Dahl started in the advert ... promoting this scent. According to the YSL website Nu is 'all about luxury and femininity. Nu is all one needs to wear for those moments of pure pleasure. Nu in Eau de Parfum concentration is a mysterious, sensual skin fragrance.' Packaging This perfume comes in a silver Perspex disc which opens to reveal a smaller disc inside which is actually the perfume bottle. The inside of the disc is a really deep blue colour. I have to say that this is the most unique perfume bottle I have ever seen. You spray the perfume by pushing in a small square section of the bottle. When the lid of the disc is closed, to be honest, you wouldn't even realise that it is a bottle of perfume. Cost Obviously I only paid £1.44 for my bottle of this perfume (although it was only half full!) but I have had a look online and have found this perfume is available at www.fragranceex.com for the following prices: 30ml - £16 50ml - £26.29 The Perfume Nu has top notes of bergamot, heart notes of wild orchid and base notes of incense, oakmoss, wood and spice. I would describe this fragrance as very sensual and it's also very unique, I can't think of another perfume in my collection that even smells similar to this one. I wouldn't really describe this perfume as girlie yet it still manages to smell feminine. It is quite musky and heavy although not unpleasantly so. I have also found that this perfume has excellent staying power. I literally put a couple of squirts on in the morning and I can still easily smell it much later in the day. In fact, whenever I wear this perfume, people always comment and ask what scent I am wearing so it goes to show just how noticeable this perfume is. Summary If you tend to like deep, heavy scents that aren't too girly then I would certainly recommend this perfume. I really love the design of the bottle and this one certainly stands out among my other perfumes in my collection. One slight downside to this perfume is that because of the design of the bottle and where the colour of the bottle is so dark, you are unable to see how much perfume you have left although to be honest, you can roughly feel how much you have left when you pick up the bottle. An advantage to the unique design of the bottle is that the perfume is protected from sunlight which actually stops the perfume from going off, meaning that it will last longer. Escada Taj Sunset Eau de Toilette
by elysia2003 *** Escada *** It's been several years since I first became acquainted with the Escada brand of perfumes. The bottle initially caught my attention, it was so colourful and vibrant and the name 'Rockin' Rio' conjured up all sorts of visions of carnivals and fiesta's, and happy times enjoying oneself on holiday. Therefore it was ... very apt, that this chance meeting was at a Duty Free lounge, as I was waiting for a flight to the Algarve. Although I didn't purchase any at the time, I desperately wished I had, and hoped to buy some on my return. Two weeks passed in a whirlwind, and having arrived home with a 'stowaway' (my daughter), thoughts of this captivating perfume were forgotten amongst the excitement of my pregnancy. *** Summery Fragrance *** That being said, one year later, almost to the day, we were at the same airport, going to the same destination and fate came knocking. There, in all its glory was Escada perfume, once again. The bottle was the same, the vibrant colours were the same, and the holiday-ish name was the same. It was now called Pacific Paradise, and the fragrance was slightly altered, but it had the same unmistakable notes to it, a sweet sugariness. This time I wasn't leaving until I had it, and I purchased it there and then. Since that time Escada has become my summer fragrance. Every year I buy the new Escada perfume; usually with some birthday money that I've been luckily enough to receive. :) *** About Taj Sunset *** Taj Sunset is only available as an eau de toilette, its 50ml (1.6 fl.oz.) bottle is large enough to last the whole summer long, even when you wear it every day. The box is a traditional cardboard style, which is easily identifiable; its vibrant colours simply shout out 'look at me'. The fuchsia, mango, lemon and teal colours are unmissable. The bottle, as always, is an upside down teardrop shape. Where it would normally be a point, this is flattened so that the bottle stands up easily. The bottle is translucent with just a hint of orange. Where the glass is thicker, it gives a more intense colour and therefore you get a graduating ombre effect. Escada Taj Sunset is written on the reverse of the bottle, and a design reminiscent of an Indian Henna tattoo is applied to the front. *** The Fragrance *** Enough waffling about the bottle, I hear you say? What does it smell like? According to the Escada website, this a sweet and smooth scent with a tropical mango fruit note and a velvety cream twist, a contrast that perfectly embodies the adventure and exoticism of summer in Goa. While that is all well and good - what initially hits you is the sweetness. If you do happen to try a tester, please try it on your skin, and not on the cardboard tester strips. The sweetness is intense and zingy, and reminds me of oranges, and mangoes; Fruity with a tropical sharpness. Within moments this dies down, and the middle notes come through. These are still fruity but with a slight floral edge. I can't say to my untrained nose what these are but a glance at the Escada website tells me that this flirty scent is due to water lily, lotus flowers, sweet pomorose, star apple and raspberry. I can detect the raspberry fruitiness coming through, but the water blossoms are such subtle scents there's no way I can pick each individual bouquet. This eau de toilette mellows on the skin wonderfully; it almost becomes a dessert scent, rather like peaches and cream. The final layer is subtle and totally at the other end of the spectrum to when it was first applied. It's said to be coconut cream, musk and sandalwood. It's warm and captivating, and yet mysterious. I absolutely adore it. This is summer in a bottle, not an English summer, I admit, mores the pity. This is definitely a day time perfume, or even going out with friends. For evening use on romantic dates, this is too light, and fruity. It might be intense in fragrance but it's also sweet and citrusy, some may even say too sickly, to be an evening perfume; it lacks headiness and that voluptous scent that you'd more likely require then. *** Silage *** Even though it's a fragrance I love, it's a little annoying to have to re-apply. It has moderate silage (the way that the perfume lingers and wafts). I get lots of people asking what I'm wearing whenever I wear this perfume, but to be completely honest, it's usually not long after I've reapplied. I would say that a spritz of Taj Sunset in the morning will take me through until lunchtime, at which time I'll reapply and that will take me through to the evening. It is only an eau de toilette so that's pretty average I would say. *** Where to Buy *** At the time of reworking this review (May 2013) this is currently on sale on amazon.co.uk for a rather more befitting £18.00 including postage and packaging. This perfume was limited to the summer of 2012 and as such will not be available to purchase in most stores that sell perfumes or on the Escada website. I'm glad to see it's still available to purchase though, I might treat myself to another as I only have a trickle left in mine. I would say that £18 is a truer reflection of the price of this perfume; I feel that the £33 that I paid last year was a little overpriced for its longevity. *** My Thoughts *** In conclusion, the Escada ranges of perfumes are my summer signature scent, I absolutely love them. This one has got to be one of the best though. I just hope you can get past the initial sickly sweetness, and give this a go, as the fragrance that lingers longest, is the most wonderful, warm, summery scent imaginable. Even though this was a scent limited to last year, it still gets a big thumbs up and 5 out of 5 from me. Many thanks for reading my review.
