Jennifer Lopez Glow by J.Lo Eau de Toilette
by CosmicLove
~ Why I Bought It ~
I love finding a bargain so when I saw that this perfume was reduced to half its normal price in Boots last year I decided to have a sniff of it and I loved the fragrance so decided to buy it! I am not really a fan of J Lo to be honest, so the fact that this fragrance is endorsed by her didn't have any effect on ... my decision to purchase the perfume.
~ Price ~
The 100ml bottle that I have retails at around £40 at the full price but I managed to get mine for £20. I wouldn't have paid the full price as I think that it is very expensive for such an average perfume but I think £20 for quite a large bottle was a good deal!
~ Fragrance Notes ~
The top notes of this perfume are made up of pink grapefruit, orange blossom and neroli while the middle notes consist of sandalwood, rose & amber. The base notes are jasmine, vanilla, soft musk and orris. The perfume is marketed as being 'fresh, sexy, radiant and simply irresistible'.
~ My Opinion ~
The first thing I will say about this perfume is that I am not too keen on the design of the bottle, but it isn't ugly or anything. It would be nicer without the chavvy chain and detailing around the neck of it as it makes it look quite tacky, but never mind!
The perfume itself though smells really nice, it is a lot nicer than I expected it to be and I wear it quite often. It is not a fragrance that really stands out much from any of my others and like my other celebrity endorsed perfumes it has that generic sweet, floral scent to it and it doesn't really stand out but like I said it is still a pretty nice fragrance and it is definitely not as young as some of my other celebrity perfumes as it has a strong muskiness.
The perfume is very, very strong so I always make sure that I am careful when I spray it as if I spray a little too much I can get a slight headache and I don't like wearing really strong perfume as I don't want my little one to be overpowered by the smell when he's nursing. I tend to wear this when I'm going out for a meal or to the cinemas or meeting a friend for a coffee, as it is a fresh and quite a fun fragrance while not being too young. I feel very feminine and girly when wearing this. It is a casual fragrance and it is never my choice if I am wanting to smell sexy or sophisticated.
I think the floral notes help to keep it smelling a little more grown up though the fruity, sweet fragrances tend to overpower the floral notes for a while after I spray it on and the floral notes become more noticeable after around half an hour. The floral notes are still quite young smelling and this is definitely not a very mature fragrance, though as I said before it is not too young either. I am nearly 20 and when wearing it I feel it is the perfect scent for my age - fresh, fun, sweet, girly, but not so sweet it is candy-like.
The base notes include musk (which is actually quite strong) and jasmine, which I have to say really make this fragrance and give it a little depth, warmth and a slight maturity. The lasting power isn't as good as I expected it would be giving how strong it is, and I'd say on average it has faded within a few hours, though it does linger on my clothes for a couple of days afterwards.
~ All in All ~
This is a rather average perfume and its not anything special. I do like it but it is not one of my favourites, and the lasting power isn't great! I give it four out of five stars and recommend it to anyone who likes fresh, feminine floral fragrances. Read the complete review |

Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Enchanted Eau de Parfum
by brittle1906
Review of Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Enchanted Eau de Parfum
Last year I won a bottle of Taylor Swift's first fragrance, Wonderstruck in a charity raffle. I reviewed the fragrance and as a result of my review being published on various review and fragrance sites, I was fortunate enough to be contacted by 'The Perfume Shop ... earlier this year. They advised me that a new Taylor Swift fragrance, 'Wonderstruck Enchanted' was to be released and kindly sent me a complementary pre-launch bottle!
I was specifically asked not to review the scent until after The Perfume Shop launch, so as the fragrance has now hit the general UK market, I feel it is time to review it!
**The Fragrance**
I have been using this fragrance for around two months now.
My fragrance is presented in a very plain bottle, being a pre-launch sample it is not in the bottle that will be sold in the shops.
My 'freebie' was a generous one; the bottle contained 30ml of eau de parfum fragrance. I see from the literature sent with the fragrance that 'Wonderstruck Enchanted' will be sold in an ornate red bottle with a highly decorative gold lid. Naturally this description is based on a photograph, not the real thing, so I will not comment further on the bottle!
The fragrance is a blend of wild berries and floral notes with a deep sensual base of musk and vanilla. The top notes of this fragrance are predominantly fruity; I am not usually very keen on fruit based fragrances so was a little dubious as to whether I would like this. I need not have worried because as the top notes deepened into the heart notes a more floral scent emerged, mainly freesia and peony.
The base notes of this fragrance are vanilla, musk and blond woods, these come through fairly quickly and they linger remarkably well on my skin. For the purposes of this review I deliberately sprayed the fragrance on my inner forearm this morning at around 10 am, the time is now 8:30pm and I can still detect the fragrance. I consider this to be a remarkable length of time for a fragrance to last.
Obviously, skin type plays a large part in longevity of scents.
**Availability**
Wonderstruck Enchanted has been available in one or two prestigious stores in Eire and the UK since November 2012, but the general launch to the UK market is spring 2013.
The fragrance was launched on 14th April 2013 in 'The Perfume Shop', where the fragrance is sold in 3 sizes, 30ml costs £19.50, 50ml is £28.50 and 100ml is £37.50.
The fragrance will be launched in stores such as Debenhams, Boots, Superdrug and The Fragrance Shop on 1st May 2013.
This fragrance is produced by the Elizabeth Arden Company.
**My Thoughts and Conclusion**
Although I do not usually rate celebrity fragrances particularly highly, this perfume is absolutely gorgeous. It is a very sensual, grown up fragrance in my opinion; and one that is ideally suited to evening wear as the musky element does make it a little heady for a day time scent for my tastes. The fragrance has a good depth and in my view this is due to the musk and vanilla combination, both scents that I like as I find them uplifting and feel that they suit me.
The fragrance is long lasting and exceptionally good value for money as a little really does go a long way. I have been very pleased with Wonderstruck Enchanted and I am very grateful for having been given the opportunity to trial this prior to the launch. I have been asked what the perfume is when I have been wearing it which I think is flattering and indicative of the quality of the fragrance.
I do hope that complementary products will become available as I like to layer my fragrance and I feel this enhances the scent and helps the fragrance to last.
I still have not heard Taylor Swift's music and as I do not really follow celebrity news, I know very little about her, what I do know is that her fragrances are excellent!
To conclude, I adore this fragrance and would certainly recommend it to others.
Thank you for reading.

Sex in the City Eau de Parfum
by wazza115
Last year, I was approaching a colleague's birthday and we wanted to get her some perfume with a collection we had arranged however we weren't sure what she liked. I was tasked with finding out what fragrance she wore so one morning, I casually commented how nice she smelt and asked what she was wearing. Unbeknown to me, she then drew me ... at secret santa, remembered I said I liked this so brought me a gift set with this in!
The fragrance comes in a couple of sizes, the most common being 100ml which retails at around £6. From a distance, the bottle looks quite nice however on closer inspection, it does feel a little on the cheap side. The glass bottle is quite wide meaning it isn't the easiest to hold in one hand, it has a slight pink hint to it and to the top of the bottle there is a plastic covering (looks a little like metal) which has small holes dotted around it.
The biggest issue I have is that the fragrance has very little staying power, despite it being an EDP, within what seems like less than an hour, it has disappeared completely, no matter how much I apply and even if I apply on the top of the body lotion that came in the gift set. The fragrance is meant to be light, fruity and feminine, so this doesn't give much away and to be honest, .I have no idea how to describe what it smells like either, only that it is sweet, quite sugary in-fact but I cannot pick out any exact notes from it. Upon first spray, it smells quite artificial and cheap.
This is not a fragrance I would purchase myself, from the price, I would judge it to be aimed at the younger market, if I think back 20 odd years, I can imagine this might be one I would buy then!
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this fragrance, however based on the price and that I think the younger market would like it; I would give it 2 out of 3 stars
Thanks for reading. Read the complete review |
