Christian Lacroix Absynthe Eau de Parfum
by rolandrat ===The Brand=== Christian Lacroix s a French fashion designer who teamed up with Avon in 2007 to create the fragrance 'Rouge'. Absynthe followed in 2009. ===The Product=== Cellophane wrapped bright lime green box with a vague pattern resembling paisley in shiny green and beige. The box is ... lined with green card. 'A mysterious potion of sexy florals, rich woods, inspired by the magic of absynthe'. Flammable, containing 73.8% alcohol denat. Made in Poland. 50 ml heavy tear drop shaped glass bottle with 1 inch thick glass base. Glass is a sort of lime green with a plastic green transparent pull off lid. Spray section is also coloured green. Name is written on bottle in a beige gold colour. Contains oak moss extract. ===Cost=== Full price is £20 but was on offer for £12. Now not in the catalogues but you can still pick it up on ebay. ===My Opinion=== Fragrantica.com state - 'Its composition incorporates anise and artemisia, as well as intoxicating aromas of orchid and freesia, with intensive woody accords, myrrh and musk. Avon state - 'Christian Lacroix Absynthe for him and for her is a captivating, mysterious potion of sexy florals and rich woods inspired by the magic of absynthe'. This fragrance comes in the same shaped bottle as the Rouge but in a different colour. I really like the Rouge and this one sounded intriguing, though it is currently not on sale by Avon - but was back in the catalogues just before Christmas - it tends to pop up in the brochures occasionally. This comes in a lovely heavy glass bottle with a very heavy and thick base which makes it feel very expensive. I also like the strange shade of green that the bottle and top come in - a sort of mix between sage and lime - quite unusual, a sort of pistachio shade. As with the other Christian Lacroix perfumes it is long lasting and reasonably strong - but this is a very odd one. Definitely not one to buy as a gift for someone as it is not the sort of thing you can guess whether someone will like or not. This has a very masculine and woody aroma to it and I would say it tends much more towards an aftershave smell than a perfume. I am not sure really what I can detect with this perfume, not really any of the florals mentioned - but if you do not like feminine perfumes then this might be for you. I do not dislike it really but neither do I love it enough to want to buy more. This is a really odd one and is quite heavy as well - so even if you do like it I would say it is more of an evening perfume and definitely not a fresh summery smell. This is sort of warm and heavy - some people on the Avon website rave about it and were begging for it not to be discontinued - personally it is not really for me so it just goes to show how personal a perfume choice is. ===Star Rating=== 3 stars. ===Would I Recommend?=== No not really. ===Website=== www.avonshop.co.uk Read the complete review |

Christian Lacroix Absynthe Eau de Parfum
by aclevername I asked for Christian Lacroix's Absynthe perfume for Christmas as I remember really liking it when I tried a sample of it ages ago when it first came out and it comes in the same bottle (only a different colour) as the Christian Lacroix Rouge perfume, which I found too spicy, but I adored the bottle design. ~ Price and ... availability ~ The perfume is by Christian Lacroix for Avon so it is not available in the shops. You can order a bottle from the Avon brochure or from their website, www.avonshop.co.uk. It usually costs £20.00 for a 50ml bottle, but can often be found on offer for £12.00. £12.00 is the cheapest I have seen it for. You can also buy it in a miniature gift set along with Christian Lacroix Rouge (red bottle) and Christian Lacroix Nuit (purple bottle), which costs £15.00 for 3 miniature 4ml bottles. Absynthe comes in a green/yellow coloured bottle. ~ Packaging and bottle ~ The bottle comes in a green metallic card box decorated with a shiny gold floral design and shiny green embossed vines. The green/yellow coloured glass bottle is almost teardrop shaped, only with a flat bottom and it has 'Christian Lacroix ABSYNTHE' in small gold lettering on the front of the bottle with a gold floral vine pattern around it, the same as the design on the box. The design and lettering are really small on the bottle and like I said in my review of the Rouge perfume it looks mega cute. The lid of the perfume is about an inch wide, wider than the spray button. It is just over a centimetre tall and it is oval shaped, when looking at it from above. The lid is made from transparent green/yellow plastic to match the colour of the bottle. Something I have just noticed about the bottle is that just under an inch of the bottom is just solid glass, when I had originally thought it was all perfume. This is a clever trick as I didn't notice this at first and I bet if I had a good look at my Rouge bottle (which has dark glass so it would be more difficult to see) it will be the same. If you look at Dooyoo's picture you can see the thick glass at the bottom of the bottle, but this is an inaccurate picture. The glass bottom actually comes up to the pattern on the bottle - half way up the pattern below the wording. I swear I am not exaggerating here. It makes it look like you are getting more perfume than you actually are, but I do like the size of the bottle so I don't mind too much, but it could make you feel like you have more perfume left than you actually do. Another thing I should say about Dooyoo's picture is it looks like the bottle is full to the top, but my bottle was only taken out of the cellophane yesterday and I have sprayed it no more than 4 times and there is almost a centimetre without perfume at the top of the bottle. I did notice that it wasn't totally full when I first opened it, which doesn't bother me, but it seems unfair of Avon to promote the perfume using this picture when it is inaccurate. ~ Scent ~ This perfume contains top notes of anise and Artemisia, heart notes of orchid and freesia and base notes of myrrh and musk. It is quite a warming fragrance. It is quite a woody scent with a light spicy element. I don't usually like spicy perfumes, but the spice in this is does not dominate the fragrance and it isn't too harsh. The floral notes are evident once it has settled on my skin, but I would not describe this perfume as particularly feminine. The scent is very strong and I find the perfume quite heavy. I have found it to be very long lasting. I have worn it for about 12 hours today and it was still evident before I started spraying more on to help me to write this review. I think this perfume would be suitable for day time or night time wear. It is quite dark and mysterious and I could easily imagine wearing it for a night out. I think the scent is pretty versatile and would appeal to women in their 20's (like myself) as well as more mature women. I think it smells like it would be quite expensive. I really like this scent and I am really pleased with it. ~ Conclusion ~ I like this scent and I would definitely consider buying this scent again once I have used my bottle up. It is a nice floral, woody scent, which is lightly spiced, but it is not too harsh. It is long lasting and I absolutely love the bottle. Although it is not the nicest of colours (I think a deeper, less yellow green would have been nice), I think the design is really nice. The gold lettering and pattern on the front are really small and cute. It is a nice shape and the lid is a nice shape and finishes the bottle off nicely. Read the complete review |

Christian Lacroix Absynthe Eau de Parfum
by xxSalzxx Before I even start writing about this perfume I better tell you the story behind why I bought it. When my mom was pregnant - before she found out obviously, she wasnt deliberatly drinking whilst expecting!! - we were given a bottle of Absynthe as a present. We spent the night playing various drinking games with the bottle and then the ... very next day my mom found out that she was to have a baby. So we always associate the drink with getting pregnant so when I saw that Avon had released this 'Christian Lacroix Absynthe' perfume I knew she would get a laugh out of it so I decided to buy a bottle for us to use. I have to admit I bought this for the reason above alone and not because I assumed it would be nice - Ive been very shocked by this because its actually a really nice scent!! Useful Information: Price: Around £20 - 50ml bottle. Stockists: Avon, eBay & Amazon stock this perfume even though it was designed exclusively for Avon in the first place. Other Info: Also available in 30 & 100ml bottle sizes for different prices. This scent is described as a captivating, mysterious and oriental fragrance that is perfect for any time of day and any season. - - - - - - - - - - The Bottle: Fits in with the overall theme and name of this perfume very well in my opinion - the colours and design are just spot on! The bottle is a teardrop kind of shape in design and is a bright green shade just like the actual drink Absynthe. The front of the bottle has an embossed gold pattern around the name of the perfume which again fits in very well with the brands theme. Normally green isnt the type of colour Id go for as usually I find its quite a masculine colour but with the pattern and the gold that makes this one much more feminine than I expected and its quite different to any other perfume bottles I own so I can display it among them and it stands out really well - it would certainly catch you eye if they sold this in stores. At the top of the bottle is a gold plastic lid which is simply pulled off to reveal the push down spray nozzle you would expect to find on a perfume. As far as I can tell the lid is very secure as it has never leaked and the bottle is stunning and effective - definitely one to add to any collection design wise I reckon. - - - - - - - - - - The Scent: Im pretty rubbish at picking out the individual notes in a perfume so I did some digging around the net and found the main ingredients that make up this scent are - Top Notes: Star Anise, Wormwood, Absynthe [obviously!!] & Freesia. Middle Notes: Orchid & Saffron. Base Notes: Myrhh, Musk, Amber & Ebony Wood. I have to be honest I didnt think Id like the smell of this - I thought it would smell like the Absynthe drink tastes but this one really shocked me because its actually a really stunning scent - that smells way more expensive than it actually is I think. First off this seemed to me like a normal floral scent as the Orchid & Freesia were the only scents I could smell which was pleasant enough but not what I was expecting - luckily after just a few seconds this perfume starts to really heat up and that brings the other notes into play. The Star Anise & Absynthe get stronger after a few seconds and give the floral notes a quite spicy yet sweet edge to it - which normally I wouldnt like because spicy scents arent my thing but in this case they give the perfume a nice edge rather than make me feel like Im wearing curry sauce. I like that this perfume has many different levels to it - floral, sweet, heavy, hot, spicy and somehow all the different scents manage to work well and mix together well rather than overpower one another so its actually a really amazing fragrance. This scent is a very heavy one and its very warm so at times this is quite a masculine fragrance I think. Thats perfect for me though because I like heavy scents that can be worn at nightime but if your looking for a light, normal and everyday scent this wont be it however if your looking for something really different that has a really unique scent then this one will be perfect!! - - - - - - - - - - Other Comments: Staying Power: Is pretty amazing Ive found. This lasts at least 8-9 hours on my skin - probably because its so heavy - and thats way better than average in my experience so staying power is amazing and you wont need to keep reapplying this while your out and about. Age: Id say this one is probably for 20's and upwards because it is so heavy and smells really expensive I assume younger women and teens would prefer something a little lighter and less complicated. However everyones different so if you can test this out (might be hard!!) do before you buy it! Day Or Night? Summer Or Winter? I dont think there is a season more appropriate for wearing this perfume but it is 100% a night perfume. I think this would be far too heavy to wear in the day but it is perfect for the evening and it will last all night long. - - - - - - - - - - I will definitely be buying this again because it has really surprised me by how nice it is ad how brilliant the staying power is. The only reason Im knocking a * off is because you wont be able to test this out before you buy as its not available in store - that will mean a few people will buy this on name alone and hate it as its not a scent for everyone! I do recommend it though its amazing!! Thanks For Reading. x0 Salz 0x Read the complete review |
