Hilary Duff With Love Eau de Parfum
by ally_kats_mama I have a bit of a thing for perfumes and after having a sort through of them last week I thought the time had come to review them. The amount I have cold keep me going review wise for a good few weeks so I will probably be annoying you with a good few! One of the perfumes which made it back out of a hatbox and out on to my dressing ... table. A good few of the perfumes I own are the ones endorsed by celebrities. I know some people tend to avoid them but if they smell nice then they are more than welcome on my dressing table. One of the celebrity endorsed perfumes I have is one by Hilary Duff called With Love. With Love is available is four different sizes - 5ml, 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. They cost £5, £12, £14 and £19 respectively. I think the 5ml one is only available in TJ Hughes as this is where I got mine and I have never seen it elsewhere in that size. Each of the other sizes is readily available in most high street stores and online. The perfume comes in a pretty yet simple box. The box itself is square in shape and the top of it is an aqua blue colour, slightly similar to the colour of Tiffany & Co boxes. At the bottom of the box is another layer which is a deep maroon colour. The aqua part of the box has a gold design around the edge on the front of the box. The design is swirly and almost has a filgree look to it. In the centre, in joined, swirly, maroon text are the words "With Love" and underneath in a normal, bold font is the "Hilary Duff". The box opens slightly differently to the normal boxes in that it is more like opening a little present because the aqua part of the box is actually a lid which you lift off to reveal the perfume inside. Inside the box you are greeted with the bottle which is one of my favourite perfume bottles. It has a very antique feel to it and makes me think of times gone by. It looks as though it is from the 1930's-40's era. It is made of glass and is a rough oval shape. The bottle has little diamond shapes cut into it to give it more design. The glass is clear and you can see the liquid of the perfume through the glass. It is a golden yellow colour and it is nice to be able to see it to know when you are running out! Wrapped around the neck of the bottle is a gold looking rope design which further adds to the antique feel of the bottle. You are then met with the gold plated spray nozzle which is capped with a citrine lid. The perfume is a fruity yet woody scent with has notes of mangosteen fruit, exotic spice blend, chai latte, mangosteen blossoms, cocobolo wood, amber milk, amber musk and balsam. I always find that I can smell the woodiness of this perfume rather than the fruitiness. The fruitiness is definately there when you first spray it but it settles down into this beautiful musky yet woody scent which manages to retain its femininity. It is absolutely beautiful. The cocobolo wood musked with amber musk is pure perfection and it generates a warming winter scent. I always wear this perfume during the winter months. It is definately more a colder weather scent than it is summer due to the woodsy scents it has. It lasts really well once it has been applied. I find that it will last for around 7 hours which is great for a perfume which is not at all expensive. It is a scent which I think is aimed at the older teen girl and upwards from that age rather than younger. It is a sexy scent more than it is a girly scent. Highly recommended! Hilary Duff With Love Eau de Parfum
by xxprincessdawnxx The Hilary Duff With Love perfume has a stong and fruity scent which i found appealing. I also like the elegant shape and style of the bottle which looks alot like cut crystal. The perfume itself is a light golden colour which also adds to the elegant appearance. The positive aspects i have found include the unique fragrance ... this brand provides. I was also suprised at how long the scent lasted on my skin and clothing considering only a small amount is required. Although this perfume was ideal for my taste, and I personally cannot find any faults, there may be some negative aspects for other people. For instance the perfume may not be to everybodys taste, and in my opinion it is targeted at a younger audience (Teenagers/young adults). Remember this is only my opinion and since i love the perfume so much i would recommend that anyone would get a sample. I prefer to wear the perfume thoughout the day and do not find it suitable for evening wear, although others may prefer this type of scent in the evening. I received this perfume as a gift two christmas' ago and therefore I did not pay for it. I am now ready to buy a new bottle and have found that 100ml bottle is relatively cheap at approx £20, available in most stores including Boots and Superdrug. I feel that this perfume is great value for money and would recommend anyone to give it a try, even just a sample. Read the complete review |

Hilary Duff Wrapped With Love Eau de Parfum
by MalibuMands (I know I've wrote loads of fragrance reviews this week - I've been sorting through my collection, weeding out the ones I really use and making notes. So I'm reviewing them while everything is still fresh in my mind :)) - - - - - - - - - - - The fragrance - - - - - - - - - - - WRAPPED WITH LOVE ... surprised me with its lightness. I was expecting something stronger and sweeter, based on the listed scent notes. It opens with sweetly fresh fruits, with the standout being the mandarin and a hint of tart raspberries. The fruit notes are mild - I'm guessing that the melon accords watered it all down. I can't pick up on the floral notes, the fragrance burns straight to the vanilla and soft musk base. I can detect a slight aroma that reminds me of condensed milk, but no chocolate. However; The light, airy sweetness to the base does bring mousse to mind. - - - - - - - - - - Scent notes - - - - - - - - - - Iced honeydew, plum, mandarin, white lily, blood orange, mangos bean, violet, raspberry, Milk, musk, vanilla bean and white chocolate mousse. - - - - - - - - - - The bottle - - - - - - - - - - It is the same, weighty design as With Love, but this time the bottle is a semi-transparent baby pink, with a floral motif and a green cap to top it off. I love the original, but this colour combination is rather tacky to be honest. The cap doesn't fit on the bottle very well - in fact I can't find mine. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Other buying considerations - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This is a light, airy fragrance, so it's best suited to daywear during summer months. Average wear time is about three hours, but it is close to the skin for half this time. - - - - - - - - - My opinion - - - - - - - - - While I don't dislike WRAPPED WITH LOVE and still wear it from time to time, there is nothing in it that grabs my attention, so I won't be re-buying this. If you like Vera Wang Princess - but not the price - I think you'll enjoy this too. I was surprised that as a flanker to With Love, there was nothing similar between the 2 fragrances. The only things they have in common are the names & bottles. They should have marketed it as a new fragrance, rather then just as With Love: The Revenge. I hate when companies trick customers like this [I received my bottle as a gift. They thought that with the same shape bottle and similar name I'd love it as much as With Love]. - - - - - Price - - - - - It is only sold in a 50ml bottle and is exclusive to Superdrugs in the high street, although some stores don't stock it. Some online retailers also carry it now though and prices vary between £15 and £25. Read the complete review |
