Kylie Minogue Darling Eau de Toilette
by daisylee3
I recieved this perfume as part of a gift set last Christmas. I have the 30ml bottle but it's also available in two larger sizes - 50ml and 75ml.
It is very widely available and Tesco, Boots and various other shops sell it. As I didn't buy mine I'm not sure how much it was but after looking online I can see that a 30ml bottle ... retails at around the £20.00 mark, although online retailers such as Amazon and discount perfume shops are selling it for quite a lot less and a bottle can be bought for as little as £14.00. Although this is quite a cheap/mid-range perfume, it does smell quite cheap and average and I will not be buying another bottle of it once I've used all of mine - I do like it but it's very generic in my opinion.
As my perfume came as part of a gift set, mine didn't come in the proper perfume box and instead it came in a rectangular gift box with a clear lid with a pink and black colourscheme. The sturdy glass perfume bottle itself is pretty basic - it's not particularly pretty or unusual apart from the subtle colour effect finish, but it still looks nice on my dressing table. It's short and quite wide with a black lid and writing on the front simply saying 'Kyle Minogue Darling'. Darling is written in handwriting style writing which I think is a nice touch and the bottle design overall is nice and simplistic.
This fragrance is described as being an oriental floral scent for ladies who want a sophisticated floral scent to wear when going out. Personally, I wear this during the day and don't think that it is the best fragrance to wear when I'm going somewhere special as rather than being sophisticated as it is described it's quite a sweet, floral scent which is like a perfume version of 'So...?' body spray if that makes sense and I definitely wouldn't describe it as being sophisticated - despite the muskiness, it's quite a young and playful summer scent in my opinion.
Other words used to describe it in the product description are captivating, sensual, evocative, enticing, glamorous and rich. I wouldn't describe it as any of those, personally - it's a nice, basic sweet and floral scent with a little musk and spiciness. The top notes are passion fruit, freesia and lychee while the heart notes include lily and boronia. The base notes consist of sandalwood, vanilla and amberwood. When I first spray a little of it onto my neck and wrists it smells quite sickly sweet and the passion fruit is definitely the most prominent smell.
The sweetness remains but becomes less sickly after a while as a little muskiness comes through, complimenting the floral notes and balancing the fragrance out. The vanilla becomes more and more noticeable over time - I do like vanilla but it can tend to become easily overpowering but the subtle spiciness prevents this. I can't quite put my finger on what the spicy scent is as it's very subtle and can easily become overpowered by the floral notes. The scent overall is very girly, fresh, sweet & floral. It lasts for around four hours before it's almost completely gone but it lingers on my clothing for a little longer.
Overall, this is a pleasant fragrance, if a little generic and it's not very long lasting. I give it three out of five stars. Read the complete review |

Kylie Minogue Darling Eau de Toilette

I received this perfume as a gift for my birthday a few years ago after I saw it advertised and I have to admit I still have half a bottle left! It is a pretty bottle shape and nice pinky colour but I was not too keen on the big black top. It is a very sweet, almost cute smell to it and one which is pleasant to wear and smell. However, I ... did become quite sick of it quickly and grew out of it also quite quickly. In my opinion this is quite a young person's perfume - even though it is by Kylie Minogue. I think there are better perfumes on the market now and would not buy this perfume myself. But I would say it is good for the price you pay for it, maybe just not my preference in perfume! I would recommend trying before buying! Read the complete review |

Kylie Minogue Darling Eau de Toilette
by happybunny2204
My mum often buys me a variety of perfumes for Christmas. She usually buys me an expensive one, my everyday one and then something different to try. We often share perfumes so she usually picks something that we both like. One christmas, she bought me Kylie Minogue's first perfume. At first I was sceptical. I am not a big fan of ... celebrity perfumes and have often found them to be of lesser quality than non celebrity endorsed perfumes. I have to say though that I was more than pleasently surprised with this one.
Fragrance:
This frangrance is a lot less floral than the perfumes that I usually wear so it is a nice and noticable change for me when I wear this. I would suggest that a woman in her late twenties to early thirties would be able to wear this as an everyday perfume as it smells less girly and more sophisticated than many on the market. The notes in the perfume are:
Top notes - passion fruit, freesia, lychee
Heart notes- lily and boronia
Bottom notes- Sandlewood, amberwood and vanilla
This perfume does linger for a good number of hours, although I would recommend that you reapply it after a few hours if you do not want its effects to disappear. It does however cling to fabrics brilliantly, leaving them smelling lovely all day, long afte the perfume has worn off my own skin. I usually apply my perfume just before I head out the door in the morning and then reapply it in the late afternoon, giving me an extra boost as I can notice my perfume whilst I am working.
Appearance:
Althought I think that this perfume is very different from other celebrity perfumes, I wish that I could say the same thing about the box and the bottle. The box is just like every other celebrity perfume, and is thin and flimsy. I appreciate the colours used on the box, but it looks like something they sell in discount stores rather than something that screams "wear this to be like kylie!". I like the shape and style of the bottle. It is easy to hold in my hand and the lid is a good size too. The colours used on the bottle match those used on the box. The lid is black plastic, but the attempt at using similar colours from the box on the glass bottle just makes it look as though it has been involved in an oil spill. As the glass is transparent though, it does allow you to see how much perfume you have left, so you know when to replace it.
Cost:
A bottle of Kylie Minogue:Darling can be purchased for around £10. There are usually some great offers in places such as Boots, Superdrug, Body Care and online, so hunt around for the best deal. Overall, I think that this perfume is great value for money. It is a strong, noticable scent that lasts a long time and will suprise people when you tell them that it is a celebrity perfume. Gift sets that include shower gel and body lotion usually appear around christmas time, so if you are a fan of the scent it is worth investing in one of those for a layered scent.
