Mariah Carey Luscious Pink Eau de Parfum
by ally_kats_mama After really liking the first scent Mariah Carey put out, I was very pleased to receive her second perfume which is called Mariah Carey: Luscious Pink. The perfume is available in three sizes - 30ml, 50ml and 100ml And it costs between £15 and £25. It can be found in most high street shops and online. The box of ... the perfume is very girly and sets the tone for the perfume. The box is square and is baby pink. In the middle of the box on the front is a giant "M" with a butterfly hanging off of the end and underneath are the words "Mariah Carey's Luscious Pink" all in a darker pink colour and swirly romantic font. The actally colouring of the packaging reminds me of the same pink used in the breast cancer research campaigns. Inside the box is the perfume bottle which is exactly the same as the bottle for Mariah Carey's "M" perfume only it is a different colour this time. Normally I prefer bottles for different scents to be different but I really liked the bottle for "M" so I was pleased with this one. The bottle is a rounded oval shape. It is glass and has an irridscent pink look to it which is you turn it in different lights reflects different colours of the rainbow. You can see through the bottle so you know just how much perfume you have used which is always a good thing. Moving up the bottle to the neck there is a raised design around a ring on the neck which is a metallic pink colour. The lid is a pink butterfly covering a metallic pink spray nozzle. The bottle is very pretty and definately girly to look at. The scent makes use of the following scent notes: sicilian bergamot, accords of ocean breeze, Bellini, petals of Tiara from Tahiti, lily of the valley, pink peony, blonde wood, sandalwood and white musk. When I first smelled this perfume I could really smell the florals in the perfume. At the first squirt the florals seemed to smell a little sharp but this died away quickly. The lily of the valley and pink peony are definately evident here. It is a very clean and fresh smelling scent. It is light and airy. I don't know if a perfume actually can smell pink but if the colour pink had a scent this would be it! It is a happy scent and very sweet. It is definately girly. I cannot trace any of the wood scents which are used. As the perfume settles though I can always smell the white musk gently laying over the top of the lily of the valley and pink peony, creating a very pretty scent. I like Luscious Pink but nowhere near as much as I liked "M". I found Luscious Pink to be alot weaker and just not as noticable. It is a day to day scent but it doesn't have a good strength. It is about as strong as the average body spray which lets it down alot. A little disappointing and possibly a little bit rushed out. I give this perfume 3 DooYoo stars out of 5. Mariah Carey M Eau de Parfum
by ally_kats_mama Firstly, I am really surprised that there are only three reviews for this perfume! I thought it was really popular! My husband ended up buying me a bottle of this perfume one Christmas after I had dropped a couple of hints about it. Mariah Carey's M is available in three different sizes and they are the regular sizes you ... expect from perfumes: 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. The prices tend to vary all over the place for this perfume but you are looking at between £15, £20 and £25 for each different size respectively. The perfume comes in a irrediscent white box which sparkles slightly when you move it about in the light. It is quite tall and wide for a perfume box but it made me feel like I was actually getting something for my money! On the front of the box in silver is a large "M" is cursive writing and a little butterfly hanging off of the tail of the "M". The butterfly is representative of Mariah Carey as butterflies are one of her favourite things. Underneath the "M" is "Mariah Carey" in a bold font. Inside the box is the perfume bottle and this bottle is really pretty and girly. The bottle is made of glass and is rounded at the top and slims down towards the bottom. The bottle is a deep purple though my bottle does not have the clear bit running through it like the DooYoo photo does. You can see the liquid of the perfume through the glass though you cannot see what colour it is. As you travel up the bottle to the neck there is a silver ring wrapped around the neck which has little raised bumps on it. The best part of the bottle is the lid which is completely shaped like a butterfly. It is really very pretty and looks lovely on the dressing table. It is quite sophisticated and a little unusual. The perfume itself is made up of a few scent notes which are: marshmallow, sea salt, living Tahitian tiare, gardenia petals, amber and spicy woods. The first thing which hits me about this perfume is the strange mixture of marshmallow and sea salt which are both very noticable the minute you spray it. It is such a wierd sounding combination on paper but together they smell amazing. It is very sweet with a little twang to it. I lived in Bournemouth for 5 years and it reminds me of the smell of candy floss and the breeze coming off of the sea down by the pier. It is really lovely. When the scent settles down you are left with the marshmallow scent mixed with the amber and a woody smell. It is really very nice and warming. This is deifnately another winter scent. It is sexy but comforting with a feminine touch. Scent wise, the perfume has fabulous staying power and lasts a good 6 hours without the need to top it up again. An excellent perfume which is a regular on my dressing table. Highly recommended. Read the complete review |

Mariah Carey Forever Eau de Parfum
by MalibuMands - - - - - - - - - - - The fragrance - - - - - - - - - - - As I've mentioned in other reviews I'm not a fan of tuberose; I find it overpowering and I nearly always suffer from a headache when I wear it. So it's recently become a challenge to myself to find a wearable tuberose-based fragrance. FOREVER has a fruity ... opening, so I tried that first as I thought that the fruit notes would freshen and lighten up the florals. I was right about that; the opening of fresh, life-like lotus and juicy, slightly sweet, yet tart apple notes is gorgeous. It's both energizing and fresh whilst being understated and feminine. And when the tuberose note does develop, it still seems fresh and juicy. I can also detect the gardenia, but I'm sure there's another fruity note hidden there too; it's hinted at, but is too subtle for me to separate. Maybe they added more apple notes? I was loving FOREVER until it burnt through to the flat base, I found it very disappointing. Whist the musk does continue the freshness to the fragrance going, it also overtakes the mix of woods. I get a slight note of sandalwood, but that's it. I thought it was a let-down. - - - - - - - - - - Scent notes - - - - - - - - - - Neroli, lotus, green apple, tuberose, gardenia, white musk and exotic wood. - - - - - - - - - The bottle - - - - - - - - - Described as art deco; I think the clear bottle meant to resemble an uncut diamond. It's unique and eye-catching. However I don't like the cap, which is taller than the bottle itself. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Other buying considerations - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It's a light fragrance considering it's a white floral, so the lasting power reflects that. It burns down within four hours. Not great, but it seems average for modern fragrances. Florals are generally wearable all year round, but the fruity start means I'd personally think of it as a spring/summer fragrance. FOREVER is great for daytime, both casual [thanks to the fruit] and work [the florals are light, so colleges won't be adverse to it]. I find it too fresh for evening wear, but I suppose it all depends on what you like to do it your spare time. If you go to clubs this could work as you won't suffer any ill effects you get from combining heat and a stronger fragrance. - - - - - - - Verdict - - - - - - - I felt totally let down by this one. The sweet'sour fruits and the fresh florals are surprisingly complex yet subtle, at least they were until the musk came along and white washed over everything. If you happen to be a fan of musk I'd highly recommend this to you, but for myself this is a no-go. If your planning to buy someone a fragrance for Christmas I think this a good bet. It's fresh but slightly sweet, isn't too strong and is quite inexpensive for a EDP. Are you a fan or Michael Kors Very Hollywood EDP? Here's a more purse friendly version. - - - - - RRP - - - - - 50ml £27 Read the complete review |
