Sex in the City Midnight Eau de Parfum
by sparkle1004
I am a big fan of Sex & The City and I own most of the shows on dvd. Recently, I also became the owner of the fragrance based on the show too called Midnight.
The fragrance
This perfume is advertised as being a dark, mysterious and passionate fragrance which promises to capture the passionate mood of the midnight ... hours. It's aroma is described as being rich and enchantingly seductive being intense yet still feminine. It has been designed for evening wear and promises to make you smell and feel sexy and captivating.
Aroma
I can't find anything online to tell me about the base, middle or top notes of the fragrance other than it being described as floral oriental.
Packaging and Price
The perfume comes contained within a massive and heavy glass bottle that actually looks quite masculine to me. It has Sex & The City written on one side and Midnight on the other. The bottom half of the glass is purple/pink colour while the top half is made out of silver metal. It has holes all over the top. The lid is a rectangular shape which purple plastic loops sticking out of either side. I'm not sure where they were going with the design of the bottle and it's not one that I like to have on show.
The product is priced quite cheaply and I bought it for general day wear to stop me from using up my more expensive perfume too quickly. I got it for around £8 for 100ml of the fragrance on Ebay but it comes in a variety of prices from a variety of online websites so it's best to shop around.
Application and Aroma
A lot of the perfume comes out as you push down on the metal dispenser and it comes out all at once rather than as a mist. This is can make wet patches on your skin which doesn't work well with fake tan and can also leave wet patches on your clothes. This doesn't happen as much if you hold the bottle further away from the body as you use it but it still does happen to a degree. Two squirts of the bottle dispenses a fair amount of the fragrance onto your skin.
The strength of this perfume is pretty well. When you first dispense the product, the aroma is strong initially, with an aroma of heavy musk which isn't entirely pleasant and it's pretty old fashioned in my opinion. This dies down very quickly and after a few minutes, you are left with quite a weak aroma. It is one that is very floral and but quite cheap smelling.
It reminds me a bit of public toilets which have been freshened with a floral air freshener which isn't what I want to smell of. The perfume can only be detected if someone is really up close to you and it fades even further within half an hour to a non existent fragrance. On the plus side, and I'm clutching at straws here, it hasn't irritated my skin or caused me any discomfort.
Conclusion
All in all, even though this is a cheap perfume, it smells of cheap flowers and fades quickly. The scent isn't very evident after the first few minutes and it's not not something I would use, even in a perfume emergency. I'll be passing this on to a friend but I'm sure it will eventually end up in the bin. Read the complete review |

Sex in the City Lust Eau de Parfum
by daisylee3
I'm a bit of a bargain hunter, so when I saw that my local B&M were selling the 100ml bottles of 'Lust' for just £3.99 each I thought that I might as well buy a few for presents and I ended up buying one for myself, too.
I'm not really a fan of celebrity type perfumes and if I'm honest I only decided to try it because it ... was so cheap!! I thought I was getting a real bargain but after having a look online the retail price is actually only around £8.00 and a 100ml bottle can be easily found for under a tenner, which I think is because it is quite old - it's been around for a good few years and it is discontinued in some shops but still easily available online. The perfume comes in a chunky glass bottle which is a rectangular/square kind of shape. The glass is dark purple tinted and the product name is written on the front in black writing. The lid is quite an unusual design - it's silver with a metallic kind of feel and it just pulls off to expose the nozzle. The bottle is quite bulky and not particularly attractive, it's quite a young design in my opinion.
It does look like the odd one out amongst my other perfumes as it's so bulky and wide, but this isn't too much of a disadvantage as it does smell quite nice and that's the main thing that matters rather than the packaging. The bottle comes in a cardboard box which has a purple and white colour scheme. I threw this in the bin as it is not very special looking. This is described by the manufacturers as being a 'feminine scent for sexy, vibrant women'. They state that it is a light and refreshing perfume which is ideal for casual day wear. I have no idea which notes are in this, but it's a very fresh and light fragrance which smells more like body spray than perfume to be honest! The smell isn't very strong and in my opinion it does smell quite cheap.
It's hard to detect any actual fragrance in this, instead it's just like a merge of sweetness and floral with a hint of weak citrus. It reminds me a little of the lilac loveheart sweets but it's no where near as nice smelling! I'm only 21 but I think that this is quite a young scent which would be best suited to teenagers. The scent is very light and summery and it's versatile although I wouldn't dream of wearing this if I was going somewhere special as it's so weak and 'average' smelling. Despite what the manufacturers say, this isn't a vibrant or sexy smelling fragrance in my opinion.
The lasting power isn't great - it's hardly detectable even after half an hour. Overall, this is okay. It smells quite nice, but the fragrance is weak and you can tell that it is a cheap perfume. I do recommend it if you want an affordable perfume for casual wear but this isn't anything special. I'm glad that I didn't spend much money on it!

Sex In The City Lust Eau de Parfum Gift Set

I too ordered this for Christmas last year, extremely excited and expected very seductive perfumes at a very affordable price, I couldn't have been more wrong! The perfumes all smelt the same after claiming each had a different effect and a different scent. The only thing that was nice with this was the box. But as for the perfumes they ... smell terrible and only suitable as room fresheners or clothes freshener but another more high quality perfume would have to mask the smell. Personally advertising these scents as SATC, I could not imagine that any of the girls would wear these terrible perfumes. I wouldn't expect anyone to wear these. I have resulted in using the perfumes as room fresheners, the keyring I gave to my niece and the body lotions I use on my partner for massages but only before he washes it off in the shower. And also with the body lotions care must be taken as because they too are highly scented with the terrible perfume it can sting if it enters cuts and abrasions. Read the complete review |
