The Body Shop White Musk Eau de Toilette
by emmad5689
As a teenager White Musk was one of my first fragrances and one that was very popular at the time, recently I was trying to reach target on the swagbucks website and ended up going through a link to the Bodyshop website and treating myself to a bottle.
The fragrance is one of Bodyshops own and therefore can only be bought at ... Bodyshop but there are stores, representatives and even an online store so it is easy to buy their products although as usual there is a delivey charge if you order online. The bottle cost me £8.50 for a 30ml bottle which I think is a pretty standard price for Bodyshop perfumes and it is available in a larger bottle, a bodyspray and a talc.
The product comes in a see through glass bottle with a small silver top on it, the bottle works on a pump action like the majority of perfumes. The liquid inside the bottle is a lovely lilac in colour and then the bottle has got a small amount of a etched like design on it.
The scent is very hard to describe but it smells like musky flowers and a smell which reminds me of talc, I know that may sound a daft description but is about the only way I can describe it and i'm sure anyone who has smelt it will probably know what I mean. The smell doesn't seem to develop at all and remains the same through the day as when you first spray it although it is very strong when you first spray it but this does settle down.
The perfume has got a decent amount of staying power, of course the strength of the smell does reduce throughout the day but I would say it lasts a good 6 hours.
This was a favourite of mine in my younger years but I can only think that my sense of smell has developed as for all it is an ok scent it is certainly not a favourite now and I probably wouldn't buy it again. Read the complete review |

The Body Shop Dreams Unlimited Eau de Parfum
by Holland1
This Eau de Parfum from The Body Shop is another bargain I picked up from their recent sale. It ended up costing around £4.25 after the sale reduction, a voucher code I'd found online, and going through Top Cashback. I think the RRP is around £15 for a 30ml bottle, although I can't see it on the website anymore to ... verify.
The bottle is really sleek and elegant, and reminds me of Davidoff's Cool Water in shape. I find with this being an EDP instead of EDT, I don't need to spray quite so much to get a good covering of the fragrance, so usually a quick spritz on my chest and then on each wrist does the trick nicely.
I would definitely say this is a spring/summer fragrance, as it's fruity and floral and very light. I find it really uplifting and it's one I would be happy to keep in work on a summer's day to reapply should I feel the need to freshen up. The notes featured are citrus, green chilli, white flowers and cedarwood. I would say the citrus is definitely evident on first spray and also throughout the day. It's a sweet smelling fragrance, and reminds me a little of Elizabeth Arden's green tea perfume which my mum used to wear.
If I'm honest, I don't really notice this perfume changing throughout the day as much as I do with some others. This one tends to remain fairly citrus based, and although there is a touch of floral about it, it's not hugely strong and only complements the citrus fragrance. One thing I do like about this perfume is that it doesn't become overpowering or cloying as it develops. I find sometimes, especially with cheaper perfumes, that the longer you wear them they can become a bit sickly and I feel like I want to wash the fragrance off by the time I get home! This one remains fresh smelling throughout the day, and for this reason I think it would be perfect for wearing in the summer months.
The perfume tends to last for the whole day if I'm in work, and begins to fade around teatime, which is ideal because I would prefer to wear this in the day than in the evenings. It's quite a subtle fragrance so if you wanted to get a fresh burst of fragrance I guess you could spray again in the afternoon, especially if you need refreshing, but on a normal day I'm happy to let this one fade away slowly whilst providing subtle fragrance in the background.
In terms of availability, this one isn't on the Body Shop's website at the moment, so I don't know if it's going to reappear in the future. It is available on the likes of Ebay, however, so is one I might source again if I can't get hold of it in the Body Shop store. I had a bargain with this one, although I'm so pleased with it I would happily pay the full RRP.

Calvin Klein CK Be Eau de Toilette
by marymoose
---Intro---
Unless I decide to start reviewing aftershaves that my boyfriend wears (now...there's a thought!), this is going to be my last perfume review at least for the foreseeable future. As a creature of habit I have used CK One as my perfume for many years now, although nowadays I intersperse using it with the gorgeous DKNY's ... Be Delicious, and Next's Just Pink and I've now reviewed all of them.
When I split up with my ex I did think that I needed a change, and bought a bottle of CK Be when my CK One ran out - I had tried it in shops over the years and had always been a bit tempted. It wasn't a big change from CK One, but it was a change nonetheless. However, after I'd finished that 50ml bottle I went back to CK One, just out of habit really(to be honest I think I like both equally). And I thought that was it...
That is until one of the best days of my life when I found an almost full 200ml (BIG!)bottle of CK Be on my boyfriends bathroom cabinet (along with an almost full bottle of CK One)...so really it seems rude not to use it at least occasionally.
---CK Be---
Like CK One, CK Be is a Unisex fragrance (CK's second unisex fragrance, launched in 1996), which is ideal for me, as I'm assuming that's why my boyfriend has a bottle and that it's his. Although I imagine his ex girlfriend was a number of things, I can't imagine she'd be so stupid as to leave this behind. I have found information online saying that "whilst CK One is based on the idea of bonding and sharing, the complementary and contrasting CK Be advocates the "be-yourself" concept". I'm not entirely convinced...they're both perfumes and they're both nice - isn't that all that you need to know?
---The Bottle---
The perfume comes in a plain black card box which lists the ingredients. The black coloured glass bottle is very simple and I think elegant in its simplicity. It simple says "Calvin Klein" and "CK Be" - it is very similar to the CK One bottle. When you get a bottle it has a screw on cap, but comes with a spray attachment which you can put on - this makes the perfume go further. Like with CK One the nozzles are good and I've never had any wastage.
---Wearing the fragrance and the scent---
Like all perfumes I spray onto my wrists and neck. I'm fairly liberal with its application since I'm not worried about the bottle running out - 200ml will last a long time if I'm only using it occasionally (I was so excited finding these big bottles since I've only ever been able to afford small bottles)! I feel that CK Be is quite subtle and even if you do overspray it's not likely to overpower you (or others).
It is described as a fresh and sexy fragrance suitable for casual use. According to my Internet research the scent has top notes of Bergamot, Juniper Berry, Mandarin, Mint, Lavender and White Musk, middle notes of Light Spices, Magnolia, Peach and White Musk, and base notes of Sandalwood, Opoponax, Tonka Bean and White Musk. These notes mean absolutely nothing to me, although Tonka Bean sounds quite funny!
Personally I think it has a lovely smell. Although it is different from CK One, I don't think it's COMPLETELY different. I think that if you like one then you'll probably like the other. I think it's a bit less floral than CK One (not that that's a very floral scent anyway), and a bit more musky (now that could be the white musk which is in all of the notes!) - perhaps ever so slightly more masculine, but this does definitely suit men and women equally well.
Like CK One I don't think that this is the longest lasting fragrance, and can only detect a slight hint at the end of the day. But now I have a big bottle that doesn't matter as I can always reapply! I haven't had any comments from people whilst wearing CK Be as I do with my DKNY fragrance, but I don't mind. I think that it's a subtle fragrance which blends in, and really as long as I like the smell, and as long as I don't get any negative comments then I'm happy!
---Price and other info---
It comes in 50ml, 100ml and 200ml bottles, which can be purchased for around £17, £27 and £34 respectively (Amazon prices - you might find it cheaper elsewhere). I think that for such a good quality fragrance, this isn't too bad at all.
There are other products in the range such as deodorant and moisturiser which I haven't tried. I imagine that wearing them would enhance the smell, and could be worth trying if you fall in love with this scent.
---Finally---
I think that CK Be is a nice everyday scent. But remember that different fragrances suit different people, so you should always try before you buy - that's what perfume counters in department stores are for after all!
I like this probably as much as my trusty CK One. 5 out of 5 from me. Read the complete review |
