Anna Sui Dolly Girl EDT is described as being 'mischievous and flirtacious - precocious and provocative'. This fragrance is recommended for day time or casual use. There are other variations of the original Dolly Girl including 'Lil' Starlet' and 'Bonjour L'Amour'.
*Top notes - melon, apple, cinnamon and bergamot
*Heart notes - violet, jasmine, lily of the valley, magnolia and rose
*Base notes - wild strawberry, amber, vetiver, raspberry, teakwood essence and musk
The design of the Dolly Girl bottle is said to replicate Anna Sui's favourite mannequin head. It is made of pink, slightly frosted glass and shaped like a head and neck. The design is completed with fluttery eyelashes, rosy cheeks and pink, puckered lips. I personally find the design to look quite creepy!

I received my bottle of Dolly Girl last year. I recognised the bottle right away as being Anna Sui but have never been tempted to try the actual fragrance as I feared it may be cheap and nasty. I am glad I received it as a gift though as I now quite like it! It is worth shopping around if you want to buy it as it isn't widely available. I have the matching body lotion too which is even harder to find than the EDT! The bottle has to be kept in a box though as it creeps me out!
Right from the first spray I could tell that Dolly Girl wasn't going to be a heavy fragrance. This is to be expected given that it is an EDT rather than a heavier EDP. That being said, the fragrance notes come through at different levels of strength during this fragrances life span on my skin. I find a few sprays to my neck area and on to my wrists is more than sufficient for my skin to grasp a pleasant level of strength from this fragrance.
The opening scent offered by Dolly Girl is highly appealing to me! It is fruity, refreshing and almost quite Summery - a light but fragrant and juice cocktail. The apple and bergamot are the most evident notes and this combination smells entirely natural and fresh. After a short while, the freshness of the scent is overtaken my a sweet and warming cinnamon note which in my opinion, adds a unique touch to this scent.
The fruity, sweet and warming combination is absolutely gorgeous and the different notes really work well together. The cinnamon enhances the strength of Dolly Girl despite acting as a subtle undertone but the overall scent holds on to its Summery freshness quite well. After an hour or so, the floral heart notes start to emerge and mingle with the fruity top notes. I wouldn't say there is anything particularly special about the floral notes that Anna Sui chose to use here but they are soft and quite subtle. Those who favour floral scents may be disappointed by how little they come through but I was happy to have them lingering in the background whilst the top notes remain more noticeable.
The dry down of Dolly Girl occurs after 4 hours or so of wear and is quite pleasant indeed. There is quite a lot going on here but it definitely works and I able to witness a nice blend of fragrance notes as they filter through. There is a bit of sweetness from the fruity notes, a warm, woody aroma and a very fine musky undertone given it a slightly more grown up feel compared to the bright and refreshing opening sequence. I notice this fragrance coming to an end on my skin after 5 hours or so.
I would say Dolly Girl is more aimed at a younger audience but could easy be worn by any female who appreciates a bright but fairly subtle fragrance. I find that this fragrance is light enough to wear on a warm Summers day through to evening. Wearing the body lotion as a base increases the strength and staying power of the scent for an hour or two longer.
Whilst not the most impressive of fragrances, I have been very impressed by how beautiful Dolly Girl comes through on my skin. It is pleasant to wear and the notes have been well chosen to come across as being a beautifully fresh and feminine fragrance that would appeal to many in my opinion. It can be bought for under £15.00 often on eBay which I feel is a fair price for an EDT.
Thanks for reading :)
I love wearing perfume. I used to wear brands like Charlie etc.. whilst I was growning up there wasn't any of the celeb fragrances out there then. Now I'm showing my age. Anna Sui is a fashion desighner and makes various fragrances too.
The bottle is very girly indeed looks like a doll as that's the name of the fragarence. Dolly girl comes in a Light pink glass bottle in the shape of a head and the picture of a doll's face on the front. The bottle contains 30ml.1.0 fl.oz. The fragrance has a sweet femine smell to it reminds me of dolly mixture sweets really. The smell isn't to in your face very suttle and good to wear as a day time perfume.
My friend treated me to this last Christmas as she knows I like to try new things. I love it it is really me. I like fresh and sweet scents not over powering ones. I'm nearly out of this and will be trying to twist her arm in to her buying me some more. This is a good perfume for all ages to wear.
Available from amazon for around £25.00 a bottle.

Dolly Girl is an Anna Sui fragrance, I received a (quite big) miniature in a gift set last year and immediately loved the design of the bottle although the perfume itself took some getting used to. The bottle you can see above is the larger full sized perfume, this features a soft touch mannequin head whereas my miniature was a perfect hard glass replica.
The perfume is very light and feminine, it's a fragrance suited to younger women as it's not only sexy but also flirty and bright. The main notes are fruity, these continue throughout the life of the perfume and help make Dolly Girl quite a sweet perfume which should appeal to just about anyone. This is toned down slightly as a more floral heart creeps into the fragrance, but you should find you never completely lose the gorgeous mixture of fruity fragrances.
After the fruit tones start to fade they blend with a very distinct cinnamon fragrance, this is only apparent for a very short time but after the actual cinnamon disappears you'll be left with a much warmer perfume that becomes almost spicy. This is where Dolly Girl starts getting odd, and at this point I couldn't decide for several wears whether I actually liked it or not. Mixed in with the spicy notes is a beautiful fresh fragrance, it reminds me of walking down the beach with the cold but refreshing wind blowing in my face. Part of this fresh fragrance is very similar to the Lagoon range in the Avon book, not a very sophisticated comparison I know but the salty Lagoon fragrance is the first thing which springs to mind when I think of this part of Dolly Girl.
Soft floral notes emerge in the perfume after a couple of hours, these take some finding as they are not heavy or strong in the slightest but once your nose grabs hold of these florals I'm sure you'll love them. Although quite subtle, these do change the effect of the perfume as the flowery fragrance forces Dolly Girl to grow up a bit! At around the same time a sexy musk base note comes through, this brings out the full force of different notes within Dolly Girl and for a while it becomes a mish mash of fragrances. This is something I'd usually hate but with this perfume the casual blending doesn't interfere with the overall girly impression the brand is trying (and succeeding!) to put across.
There's nothing run of the mill about Dolly Girl, I love the fun and feminine appeal of the actual fragrance almost as much as I love the bottle! It doesn't have very good staying power, but that's due to the fact that this is a light fragrance and if you wanted it to last longer then you'd need it to be a heavier perfume. Which would spoil it. I'd estimate from two long sprays I get around four hours of decent fragrance, I personally wouldn't wear it on a night out as it would struggle to be heard over other perfumes in the room but for daytime wear it's excellent.
£27.94 (50ml bottle) from Cheap Smells.
This perfume brings back so many memories for me. It was the first 'proper' perfume I wore.
The bottle is beautifully designed and feels really nice in your hands - soft to the touch and feels more expensive than it is! The colour is suitable for any girlie girl and lover of all things pink!
The scent is sickly sweet but fabulously light on the skin, and lasts for ages! It really is a memorable scent and I have had lovely comments each time I have worn it.
The price is good enough for you to be able to wear it regularly, and it really does last for a long time!
The pink quilted box that the scent comes in feels like a real little luxury, and it's a nice gifts for girls just getting in perfumes by designers but without the harsh pricetags.
A really lovely fragrance, but not for the fainthearted - it really is sickly sweet. Not a mature fragrance, lighthearted and fun.
I really love the Dolly Girl range by Anna Sui, which includes this and various limited editions based on it (Bonjour l'Amour, Lil Starlet, and On the Beach are the ones I'm aware of).
Looks: quite possibly the best thing about it is the packaging, surprisingly. The bright pink box is really eye-catching and the bottle no less so (see picture). The frosted pink glass face looks great on the shelf, and is very feminine.
Scent: this smells great, and doesn't wear off too quickly. It is lighthearted and very feminine, containing bergamot and melon top notes, crisp apple and cinnamon heart notes and magnolia and jasmine base notes. It's sexy, but in a fun, playful way.
Price: another huge advantage is that it's not expensive, as perfumes go, but doesn't look nor smell cheap. It's about £40 for the biggest 75ml size, but also comes in 50ml and 30ml bottles.
It is suitable for daytime wear, but for evenings I prefer something with a little more to it. That said, I will continue to buy and wear it day-to-day, because it smells really really good!
Overall: nice perfume, good value for money. Would get 4.5/5 stars if I could.
Launched in 2003 Anna Sui Dolly Girl, I spotted in Boots recently reduced to half price and after a quick sniff I couldn't resist purchasing it and treating myself as I do like my perfumes.
The bottle comes in a bright fuchsia pink box with has the appearance and texture of being sort of quilted. On the front of the box I am told that it is Anna Sui Dolly Girl Eau De Toilette, Vaporisateur, Natural Spray and the size is stated which in this case I bought the 30ml size. On the back of the box the ingredients are listed as are contact details for Anna Sui and on the base of the box I'm told to use the perfume up within 36 months. The bottle is a female head shape in a light frosted pink with bright pink features etched out on it and Anna Sui is written on the neck of the head. To the top of there head is a sliver lid which looks sort of looks like a hat and sits over the push button sprayer. On the base of the bottle, again your told what it is and who it by and the size etc. Very unusual bottle this one and rather fun and quirky opposed to sophisticated and classy really.
This is classified as a perfume for casual wear. It is a fun and flirty but still, although I consider this to be a young scent very well blended and balanced and very high quality.
The scent is a mix of jasmine, melon, bergamot, apple, musks, cinnamon and magnolia. For me I can really smell the magnolia with the apple floating over the top, crisping it up slightly with the jasmine grounding the scent beautifully. When the initial fragrance wears off and becomes more subtle thats when the musk scent really does kick in and the scent lingers on the skin for a good few hours.
This to me is a slightly but naturally sweet perfume. I would recommend it for younger wearers than me really, (I'm 35) but saying that if you like fruity, sweet and floral fragrances that are not too in your face than this really is gorgeous and I don't regret buying my bottle at all as I wear in the day times as I feel very confident and fresh when wearing this and I have had a fair few compliments when sporting this aroma too!
Very pretty, girly scent that lasts on the skins for hours and you don't need loads of it to fragrance up either!
Available in all good chemists such as Boots and different sizes are available too. Expect to pay about £23.00 for the 30ml size.

The first thing that's wonderful about this perfume is the packaging. The bottle's a replica of Anna Sui's mannequin head, and the colour is fabulously bright and fun. It looks great on the dressing table.
The fragrance itself is light, fruity and sweet, perfect for summer or when you want to pretend it's summer. It's such a girly girl fragrance and would be great as a gift for girls in their mid to late teens who are just trying to find a perfume to fit them. That doesn't mean slightly older women can't use it, although it definitely has an upper age limit (I'm 30 and starting to wonder I've reached it yet, just so you know). It's complex enough to be interesting but light enough not to be overpowering. Having said that, a little goes a long way so spraying it into the air and then walking through it, or spraying it onto a hairbrush and then brushing your hair's probably a better way to apply it than spraying loads on yourself and having people coughing in your general vicinity for the next couple of hours.
Anna Sui is one of my favourite brand for fragrant. All of their perfumes are absolutely gorgeous; it stands out from their unique packaging.
Dolly girl has to be my favourite for the summer out of all the others (I have every single one of Anna Sui's fragrant!!) Dolly Girl is bottled in a replica of Anna Sui's mannequin head and it's PINK!!
Charm with bergamot and juicy melon, crisp apple and a hint of cinnamon; all mingling with the intoxicating fragrance of magnolia and jasmine for a warm, sexy and unexpected allure. It reminds me of the days I spent lying on the beach, enjoying the sun and listening to the calming sea. It gives you a warm feeling and put a smile on your face. Where ever I go, people always ask me what perfume I'm wearing.
Anna Sui is not really well known it's mainly in America and China I think. Before I start using Anna Sui, I have never heard of it. One day, I was shopping for fragrant and saw the lovely packaging and the unique pink mannequin head and ever since then I was addicted to it. As I said before, I collect all their perfume and I absolutely love them although I am not too keen on a couple of them.
Dolly Girl - smart packaging, gorgeous fragrance. Be it a gift for your best friend, your girlfriend, or your mum, this scent has a 'sweet shop' aura about it and never fails to lift my mood when I smell it. Relatively cheap, but doesn't smell it. At all!
I was bought this perfume as a Christmas present. I wasn't very keen on it at first, but it has definately grown on me! This perfume is so gorgeous :) It is called 'Dolly Girl' and it is by Anna Sui.
It is the perfect fragrance for girly girls ! I feel that one of the best thing's about this product is in fact the packaging. The perfume comes in a very distinctive pink head shaped bottle with a spray top. I like the bottle shape as it certainly means that I will never mistake if for a different perfume. This looks very funky & young. It is lightweight and fits easily inside my bag! !
The scent itself is floral & sweet. Depending on whether you like your perfume to be light or musky it can become a little too sickly if you prefer muskier scents. This therefore means that you only need a little bit of perfume when you apply. This = the bottle lasting longer :D I would personally say that this item appeals more to the younger generation :) x
This perfume is available in many shops such as : Superdrug, Boots and also larger department stores, such as Debenhams and House Of Fraser. It can be found online for a bit cheaper then shop prices! The perfume comes in either 30ml or 50ml bottles, and the price is usually around £20 - £30, so not too expensive. I definately think this is good as this perfume does last a while which means you only have to replace it every now and then.
I'm a sucker for a pretty bottle and this definitely fits the bill! I spotted it and had to have a tester because the bottle was so fun looking.
The smell is quite girly and citrusy. I doesn't last all that long but I've found that a little goes a long way with this. A small spritz and the smell is quite strong for as long as it lasts.
I think the bottle and the smell are perfect for teenagers and younger women and it would be a nice perfume to start someone off with. I've bought a few over the years and have kept the bottles because they look really nice. A reasonably inexpensive perfume that doesn't take itself too seriously and is nice and fun.
I really like the Anna Sui range of perfumes, but I think this is the best that I've bought, a really nice scent.
'Dolly Girl' by Anna Sui is the perfect fragrance for girly girls and teenagers. The best thing is in fact the packaging. The perfume comes in a distinctive pink female head-shaped art noveau bottle with a spray top. It is lightweight and portable - I always use it as my 'holiday fragrance' because it can fit into my suitcase and does not spill. It looks great on a dressing table, and there has been several collector's editions if someone was wanting to build up a collection. The scent itself is sugary and floral, though after a while it can become a bit sickly, so I would definitely recommend only putting on the teensiest amount, and perhaps not even spraying directly onto the skin. It is not particularly elegant or refined, but as a present for a young person as something a bit new and different to try it is perfect.
One of my favourite scents! On the whole, Anna Sui produces really lovely, quirky scents which are focused on the younger consumers, however are also brilliant for those older looking for something special! The bottle itself is a selling feature- how many look that good? I think the fragrance is quite floral and sweet, but with hints of lemon which means it's not too overpowering. The scent does linger but I find it's lost after around 1 hour- however I would say this is reasonable considering it's a daytime perfume, and you do tend to reapply throughout the day... It's very summery also which makes it all the more suitable to wear throughout the day. I'd say this is a good all rounder . If you're looking for a perfume for someone without knowing their likes and dislikes I'd say this would definately be one to go for. Also don't forget the really really brilliant price!
My husband bought me this for Christmas last year and I have to say I was completely gobsmacked that he chose it all my himself! The box is funky and bright and the bottle is so unique, its girly, its pretty and is something you'd want to have on display. The fragrance itself is absolutely gorgeous, it lingers for hours afterwards, I find a litte squirt on the neck and wrists is all it takes to smell beautiful all night long. My husband loves it too and always comments on how beautiful I smell. I only use mine for special occassions so that it lasts and the smell stays fresh, I use mine probably twice a week and I have hardly used any of it! It is great value for money, it smells and looks different, I get questioned about what I am wearing all of the time and not a lot of people have heard of it, I like being different so if you do too then go for Dolly Girl!
It smells sweet and fruity but it isn't overpowering, I find quite a lot of perfumes can be a bit unbearable but this is one of them ones that waft as you walk. The smell is sweet and delicate. It also comes in a variety of sizes and is sold in many high street shops, prices vary but are around the £20 mark for a 50ml bottle and £15 for a 30ml bottle. It is well worth the price you pay for the length of time the bottle lasts.
The first thing I noticed about this perfume was the gorgeous bottle! It is quite soft and feminine - almost delicate, but it doesn't last extremely long. It isn't for anyone who acts mature but it is perfect for teenage and younger girls (and those who like to pretend that they are still young!). It probably isn't very attractive to guys, but if you are just intending it for daytime use, by all means go for it!
