When I was a teenager, Anna Sui fragrances were really popular but for one reason or another I never got around to trying any of them. Just after Christmas, however, I found a set of 5 miniatures being sold in Debenhams for under £20 and decided to buy it and give some of the fragrances a try. This review will discuss my experience with the Rock Me! Summer of Love fragrance.
The fragrance bottle is very similar to the original Summer of Love bottle.
The fragrance comes in a blue and pink box with a picture of a butterfly. It is more pastel-looking than the original which is very bright. The bottle is very distinctive and quite young-looking, without being tacky. In the shape of a guitar like the original, the top is lilac which fades to pale blue. There is a kind of frosted effect on the bottle.
The fragrance is designed in memory of the 1960s with its commitment to music, fashion and freedom. It is "ideal for each girl who hides at least one love song in her heart". The fragrance contains top notes of bergamot, aquatic hyssop and geranium with heart notes of freesia, water lily and white peach and base notes of musky rose, sandalwood and ambergris.
The original Rock Me! was a light, fresh, fruity fragrance that seemed like it would be suitable for young teenagers. This one is more of the same. It does smell a bit different - there is a fresher, sharper note than in the original Rock Me! However it isn't a big enough difference to warrant a whole new perfume as far as I am concerned. It doesn't last very long on the skin either - maybe a couple of hours.
There is nothing wrong with this fragrance as such, it is very pleasant, but it doesn't really stand out.
***Price and Availability***
Rock Me! Summer of Love is a bit more widely available than the original Rock Me! fragrance. The perfume is available on Cheap Smells for between £22-£25 for 30ml. I also found it on Direct Cosmetics at a cost of £30 for 75ml which is pretty cheap compared to most perfumes.
Like the original Rock Me!, this perfume is light, refreshing and fruity. It's excellent value for money and would suit younger women and teenagers. However it isn't distinctive or strong enough for me and it's not something I would go out and buy myself.
