Anna Sui ~ Secret Wish Magic Romance ~ Eau De Toilette
I really like the Anna Sui perfumes because they have very unusual scents. I also really like the creative and decorative bottles which the perfumes are supplied in. I have 8 different Anna Sui fragrances in my perfume collection but my favourite one has to be Sui Love mainly because I love the look of the butterfly bottle. I treated my self to a 30 ml bottle of Secret Wish Magic Romance a few months ago; you can also buy Secret Wish Magic Romance beauty products to compliment and layer the scent. The 30 ml bottle of Secret Wish Magic Romance Eau De Toilette cost me £18 from Debenhams.
As you can see from the picture at the top of this review, the bottle of perfume has a lovely curvy shape to it. The lid of the bottle has got to be the most decorative and creative aspect of the perfume bottle because it has what looks like a small fairy or Angel sitting on top of it. The fairy lid combined with the gorgeous candy floss colour of the perfume liquid gives the whole design of the perfume bottle a very feminine and girly appearance.
The Scent
As soon as I sprayed the scent onto my wrist I could immediately smell the sweet fruity aroma of Melons and Lemons. The Lemon and Melon fragrance notes weren't overpowering or too fruity they had more of a light summery refreshing aroma. Usually I'm not too keen on fruity scents because if find them to be too heavy and sickly sweet, but this wasn't the case with Secret Wish Magic Romance. The fruitiness of this perfume was really refreshing and subtle. The initial fruity top notes of Lemon and Melon seemed to last for quite a while before the middle notes of the scent became more visible. .
After approximately an hour the Melon and Lemon scent had faded quite a lot and were barely identifiable. The scent began to smell more floral after the Lemon and Melon had faded. The fragrance had a slight fruity scent but it was mostly masked with a sweet floral aroma which gave the scent more depth. The floral notes which I could detect were that of Jasmine and Tuberose. Most of the Anna Sui fragrances contain a Jasmine middle note, but the Jasmine notes in the Anna Sui Perfumes are really subtle and light. Sometimes Jasmine can be a rather heavy and overpowering scent if there is too much of it used in a perfume, but in this instance there is just a subtle hint of jasmine which gives the whole scent a much richer aroma without making it smell too floral and heavy.
The Jasmine and Tuberose aroma seemed to last for approximately 3 hours before they started to blend with the base notes and the whole fragrance took on a sweeter lighter floral aroma. The sweet note which I could smell was the creamy sweetness of coconuts and amber. I think that the coconut and amber work perfectly together because they compliment the fruity floral top and middle notes perfectly, without making the scent too heavy overpowering or cloying.
Fragrance Notes
Secret Wish Magic Romance is described as having ~
Top Notes of Bergamot, Sicilian Lemon and Melon.
The top notes are the first phase of the perfume; they are usually the most volatile and evaporate from the skin very quickly. The top notes are usually very light and refreshing and their scent usually lasts for anything between five and ninety minutes.
Middle or Heart notes of Orange Blossom, Tuberose, Jasmine and Lotus Blossom.
The middle notes of a scent are therapeutic and balancing oils, sometimes the middle notes are often referred to as the heart notes of a scent. The middle notes are not always evident and can take between thirty and sixty minutes to develop on your skin, and they last for anything between two to four hours.
Base Notes of Rosewood, Coconut, Amber
The base notes are the longest lasting notes in a fragrance, most perfumes use the same base notes. This is because they give the perfume more staying power and stop the top and middle notes from evaporating from your skin as quickly.
Staying Power
Secret Wish Magic Romance has good staying power considering it is an Eau De Toilette fragrance. Usually Eau De Toilette fragrances only last for about 4 hours on your skin because they're more dilute than Eau De Parfum.
I found that Secret Wish Magic Romance lased for about 5 hours on my skin before I needed to reapply it. I think that the scent only lasts for a few hours on my skin because the fragrance notes are really light and airy. If the fragrance notes were heavier then the scent would probably have lasted a few hours more but then again this would have ruined the perfume and made it too heavy and floral. The blends of the fragrance notes are perfect because the fruitiness is complimented with subtle floral notes and then the floral fruitiness is complimented with light and delicate sweet notes. I think that the scent is really unusual because it has a wide a range of different fragrance notes.
Perfume Information
All perfumes smell slightly different on different people, and this is due to us having different oils in our skin. The staying power of a scent also differs from person to person because we have different types of skin oils too. I said in the review that this perfume lasts for about three or four hours on me, but it could last a longer or shorter amount of time on you.
If you like the sound of this perfume then I advise that you go into your local perfume store and test it before you buy it. When testing the scent spray it onto your wrist and wear it for a few hours before you decide whether you like it or not, because the scent changes the longer you wear it due to the different notes which make up the fragrance.
When testing a perfume don't smell the scent on a perfume card because it might smell lovely on the card and when you buy it and wear it at home it might smell totally different and you might not like the scent you are wearing. I made this mistake a few times in the past and wasted £30 on a fragrance which I didn't wear again and put in the bin.
Secret Wish Magic Romance is a 30ml Eau De Toilette perfume which means that it contains between 4-10% perfume oils. An Eau De Toilette perfume is most commonly bought because it is cheaper than an Eau De Parfum, an eau de toilette scent usually lasts for about 3-4 hours on your skin although some others do last a lot longer it just depends on the different oils in your skin.
Price And Availability
I got this perfume from Debenhams and paid £18 for a 30ml bottle of it, I have also seen the perfume for sale in Boots as well. You can also buy the perfume from online retailers, I usually find that some online retailers offer perfumes at a discounted rate compared to larger department stores.
FragranceDirect.com is currently selling a 75ml bottle of Secret Wish Magic Romance perfume for £17.50. Usually a 75ml bottle of the fragrance retails for £39 in most department stores and online retailers.
My Opinion
I really like the scent of Secret Wish Magic Romance. I think it is a mysterious and full bodied scent because of all the different notes in the scent. The best way to describe the scent is by saying that it is a fruity floral sweet fragrance and is really light and airy. I think that this perfume is most suited to those who like delicate fruity scents.
Secret Wish Magic Romance is probably best worn as a casual scent because of its light and delicate aroma. I think that the scent is perfect to use as a summery scent or to take with you on holiday to use as your casual perfume. I will definitely buy another bottle of this perfume when I run out, but I think ill be buying it online because I can get a bigger bottle for the same price as a small bottle.
