Advantages: Pretty fairy design, lovely feminine scent, good price

Disadvantages: Too sweet for me, not great staying power

When I was about 17 I went through a phase of collecting Anna Sui perfumes. I loved the creative and feminine design of the bottles such as a peacock, hand bag, butterfly and doll head. One day in Boots I spotted a gift set for the newest fragrance (at the time) in the range called Secret Wish. The set contained a 30ml bottle of the fragrance, a 30ml bottle of shower gel and a 30ml bottle of body lotion and was around £25. I could even afford it on my student budget so I snapped it up. The body lotion and shower gel are long gone but I actually still have a dribble left in the perfume bottle.

Although my fragrance came in a gift set the normal box for Secret Wish is a very pretty turquoise shade with the brand name and name of the perfume written in black and pink and surrounded by tiny, delicate pink and white flowers. A top the flowers a beautiful fairy is sitting. It is a very pretty, feminine and whimsical design and would definitely appeal to young girls, or even older women who might also appreciate the sweet, magical appearance. The bottle is made of clear glass and is tall slim and triangular. There are pretty floral details on the glass. The lid is a clear plastic ball with a fairy sat on top. In between the bottle and lid there is a silver coloured metal band that has Anna Sui engraved on it. The perfume inside is a light turquoise colour. The overall look is very pretty and feminine. It is like something out of a fairy tale and would definitely suit a girly girl. I think this bottle looks really nice among my collection of perfumes on my dressing table; this is why I haven't rushed to finish the perfume and bin the bottle.

The top notes of the fragrance are lemon and melon. This is very sweet, light and fruity. The scent changes with the heart notes of blackcurrant and pineapple which remains sweet and fruity but adds a warmth to the scent. Finally the base notes are Amber, Cedar wood and musk. This is my favourite stage of the perfume. The musk is quite subtle but really adds warmth and richness to the fragrance. These days this is probably not a perfume I would pick out as I prefer a scent that isn't quite so sweet and something a bit more classic and sophisticated. However, I do still think this is a lovely perfume and I would certainly recommend it to younger girls or anyone that likes a very sweet, girly fragrance. Unfortunately I don't think this perfume has amazing staying power and I would probably want to reapply at some point during the day but it doesn't disappear too quickly. I think this fragrance is suited to day or evening.

The standard prices for this perfume are £26 for 30ml, £36 for 50ml or £45 for 75ml. This is quite a reasonably priced perfume and as it was released in 2005 you can probably pick it up on offer too. I have certainly seen it in Boots, Debenhams and The Perfume Shop at around half price. It would make a lovely gift.

Over all a very pretty box, bottle and fragrance. Ideal for a girly girl who would appreciate the whimsical fairy design and sweet scent.

Summary: The perfect perfume for a sweet girly girl
