Advantages: Nice bottle, distinctive musky fragrance
Disadvantages: Yucky his and hers marketing
First a confession - I bought this perfume solely because it was cheap! Boots were selling off their old stock a while ago, and had 30ml bottles of this perfume at £5 so I had a quick sniff and thought that smells OK so bought 3 bottles!
This Aramis, Always Her perfume is the companion perfume to the Aramis Always Him aftershave (you could probably have guessed that). I must admit the whole "his and her" perfume thing did slightly put me off, especially as the marketing is very smug smiling photos of Steffi Graff and Andre Aggasi for the perfume and aftershave respectively. However, as my husband doesn't wear the "his" aftershave I thought I could live with the yucky image and just go for the fragrance.
The box aside, the perfume bottle itself does look very classy. A nice silver type top on a tapered ribbed class bottle. The fragrance is a delicate pink colour, which gives a nice feminine look to what would otherwise be quite a masculine bottle.
The fragrance is much more musky than my usual floral favourites and on first spray at home it was quite a surprise and I wondered what I had bought. The notes of the fragrance are citrus, mandarin, magnolia, watercress, milk (how bizarre is that?), hibiscus, exotic woods and chinese incense.
When the fragrance settles however, the smell develops as a warm musky citrusy smell - not a sweet citrusy smell at all. It took me a while to get used to it, but I know quite like it as a change. I found it especially useful when I was pregnant as anything too sweet made me feel sick, so this perfume fitted the bill perfectly. It does last fairly well, although does need to be reapplied half way through the day to top up on fragrance.
Although this perfume is in no way one a "unisex" fragrance, I guess its close links with the partner fragrance for Him means it is bound not to be too girlie a fragrance. I think this is quite nice to try this perfume just as a change once in a while, and if you get the chance then have a sniff and see what you think. Having said that, having searched through the usual fragrance websites, I can't find it anywhere, although it is available from US sites and they do crop up on Ebay once in a while.
So not a perfume for always for me, but once in a while, quite nice for a change (and definately good value for £5!!)
Summary: OK perfume for a change, but not a favourite
