Advantages: smells great, long lasting, good price when on special offer, appropriate for all occasions
Disadvantages: none, it's perfect!
Avon produces a wide range of perfumes, many becoming sought-after classics. There are some that fall short of the mark and just smell cheap and strongly chemical. It's hard to know what you will end up with when you are buying from Avon as you are relying on the book or website to give a good impression of the product. It costs £12 for a 50ml bottle and is frequently included in the fragrance special offers, so it's worth waiting until you get a good deal.
There is a brief simple description included "Escape the norm and get lost in a tantalising blend of exotic blooms and sandalwood. [Scent type:] Oriental, Sandalwood." I personally think this is way under-stating the fragrance and is selling short one of Avon's best products! This is my favourite Avon perfume by far and I use it constantly. I have gone through several bottles over the years and will continue to buy it for as long as they keep making it. You can also buy matching complementary items with the Far Away fragrance, including talcum powder, body spray, skin softener, deodorant and shower gel. Used together these create an intoxicating layered effect that lasts for ages and coats your entire body.
The bottle is cute and classy, with a rounded glass base and curvy design. The lid provides a dash of colour and there is a sweet little tassel over the neck of the bottle which gives a nice finishing touch. The perfume itself is a golden amber colour and it shows through the bottle clearly which is good for allowing you to see how much you have left.
OK, so as for the actual smell it is beautiful, very full-on and dramatic. With only 2-3 sprays you have enough to last you for hours, although the scent does fade and become more subtle so I would re-apply if I were going out later in the evening. The exotic tones of sandalwood, musk and florals work together well and develop as they settle onto your skin. It is very sexy and mysterious, with a sensual, musky tone to begin with. As the top notes fade off it becomes a little more subtle and the floral notes come through. I frequently get compliments on this perfume and it is easily recognisable by other Far Away fans, a lot of my friends also love this scent.
The best thing about this perfume is that it's so versatile. It's a great all-rounder and good for any occasion, I wear it when I'm at work, at the park, going out clubbing, going for a meal etc etc... It's suitable for daytime and works really well in the evening as it's quite heavy. I have been using it since my late teens, I'm now in my mid-20's and this perfume still never fails to make me feel good about myself, it lifts my mood and gives a little boost of confidence as I'm getting ready. I would happily recommend this to any woman, and have bought some as a gift for my mother, and it really does work for every age range from teens to OAPs. A worthy purchase for a gift or as a treat for yourself!
