Advantages: Lovely bottle
Disadvantages: Can't find it anymore
Years ago when we used to have a local Avon lady I used to buy quite a lot of products. Because of this our Avon lady always used to include little free samples in our order and this was how I first tried their perfume Far Away. Far Away can be described as an oriental floral fragrance. It features orange, amber, sandalwood, gardenia, coconut, musk, violet, freesia, vanilla, osmanthus, peach, jasmine, ylang-ylang and rose.
Far Away was launched in 1994 and at the moment as far as I know they don't stock it anymore as I recently looked for a bottle for my mum because she used to like it as well but I couldn't find one on line or in their Avon catalogue.
When I was younger what I really liked about this fragrance to be honest was the bottle. The bottom part was in a round shape but the best part about it was the top stopper which was half pink, half black in a kind of ying yang swirly design with a black tassle hanging from it. To me this gave it a kind of exotic, Turkish kind of vibe to it and I think the design of the bottle definitely worked well with the name of Far Away and distant exotic places.
I found the smell to be quite musky but definitely very unique and different from most of the fragrances out there today. It also had quite a vanilla smell to it and to me this is what made it quite a strong powerful smell and one that would last throughout the day and work well on your skin. The nice thing was that Avon also had a number of different products in this smell such as Body Lotions, talc if I can remember rightly and bath products. A nice smell and one I hope they will bring back one day.
