===Why I Buy This===

This original Far Away fragrance was launched in 1994.
Because I was not so keen on Far Away I never bothered to try the next three versions - Dreams, Paradise or Fantasy.
However I had been given a sample of their new Far Away Exotic fragrance and really took to it and so bought the full sized version.
After enjoying Far Away Exotic I decided to revisit the original Far Away which has stood the test of time and has now been on sale for 18 years.



===The Product===

'Avon's No.1 Fragrance.' Avon state 'Escape the norm and get lost in a tantalising blend of exotic blooms and sandalwood.Oriental'.
Fragrantica.com states that it 'is a Oriental Floral fragrance for women. Far Away was launched in 1994. The fragrance features orange, amber, sandalwood, gardenia, coconut, musk, violet, freesia, vanilla, osmanthus, peach, jasmine, ylang-ylang and rose'.
This fragrance comes in a 50 ml bottle.
All Far Away fragrances come in the same style bottle.
Eau de parfum.
Comes in a cream box with a black border around the base. The front has a round logo of black and purple with a sort of ying and yang pattern There is also the image as if a black tassel was hanging down the front.
The bottle is round from the front but narrow if looked at sideways. The glass is slightly frosted and has a wavy line across the centre.
The cap is in the shape of a ball and divided into two colours by a wavy dividing line - the top section being very deep fushia and the bottom part being black.
Another trade mark of Far Away perfumes is the tassel around the neck of the bottle - this one is black.
Made in Poland and contains 70.7% ethanol alcohol. Flammable.

===My Opinion===

As I said before Far Away original was never a favourite of mine, but our tastes do change so I decided to try this again as it had been very popular with lots of people I knew over the years.
The bottle and box do not seem to have changed at all over the years.
The fragrance is quite strong and is just as I remember it. It is both spicy and exotic and also has a sort of powdery quality. I am pleasantly surprised by how much I like this now - it stays for a good few hours and once the initial smell settles down after being applied it stays as a good strong fragrance but is not overpowering - but do not apply too much or it would be!
While not being too heavy in my opinion I would not really want to be wearing this on hot summer days as it is more on the heavy rather than light side - but for autumn, winter and spring it is fine. It is a warm sort of fragrance which is very long lasting. It smells warm and spicy, but not in a sickly way.
Reading the list of ingredients I cannot actually pick out any one ingredient from the aroma - but it is the sort of fragrance that once you have tried it you will be able to pick it out quite easily.

4 Stars. A nice fragrance that does not smell 'cheap' even though inexpensive to buy - but not my all time favourite.
