I bought this perfume from Avon simply because I liked the look of it in the brochure, daft I know but the bottles in lemon, green and lilac all looked really fruit and summery. As this is an Avon product you can only buy it from their online store or from one of their Avon representatives, the bottle cost me £5 but Avon's prices always vary depending on what offer they have on at the time.
The perfume comes in a frosted glass bottle with simply Ice Sheers up the side of it but sort of raised out from the glass which I think is really effective, even though the glass is frosted it is still easy to see the strong yellow colour inside the bottle. The bottle has a simple push on top covering the pump which dispenses the spray and the bottle provides you with 50mls of the product.
The perfume is supposed to be made up of pear, melon and vanilla however I personally think it has a smell of lemons in it. When you spray the perfume it comes out of the bottle really well and you get a great spray, you can smell the pears straight away and it reminds me of the smell of pear drops. Once the perfume begins to calm a little I would say after about 5 minutes or so I can smell lemons and this is the scent which stays with me I feel until the perfume wears off. I usually really like the scent of vanilla but I am unable to pick it up in this perfume at all.
The perfume has staying power of around 3-4 hours on my skin which isn't the best I have had however for a perfume which worked out at £1 per 10mls I think this is actually pretty decent and for the price I paid I don't mind reapplying. You don't need to use much of this perfume at any time and I actually find it a little sickly smelling if I spray too much on so I stick with a squirt on my neck and a squirt on my wrists which is ample.
This a decent perfume and I would say it is a lovely light summery smell, I think it is great value but it can be overpowering so I would advise using it sparingly until you find a level you like.
I really like Avon perfumes - they are generally a good quality for the price you pay, and can frequently be found on offer on their website (www.avonshop.co.uk) and in their brochure . I like to keep an eye on the website for the half price offers, and it was through the website that I got my 50ml bottle for £4.50 rather than the £8 price it normally retails at.
The frosted green glass bottle is rectangular in shape, with the Ice Sheers name embossed on the bottle. It's quite tall, with slightly sloped shoulders . Not the most inspired or decorative of designs, but not offensive to the eyes either . In fact the light green colour makes me think of fresh citrus, so works with the name of the scent.
The scent itself is, I feel, well named. The main top note of this is melon - crispy, cool and fresh . After some development, other scents make themselves known - sweet vanilla and rich earthy pear. The scent is strong, but somehow light at the same time, and is fairly quick to change and settle on the skin .
I think this is a lovely light fresh scent - definitely one for more casual wear during the summer. It is light enough to wear in crowded office environments, and is fun and flirty, and quite young smelling .
It lasts around 5 hours on my skin - though do bear in mind this would vary from person to person . Perhaps my one real criticism of the scent is that it lacks the depth and sophistication of other scents , which grow and change throughout the day . This just stays sweet and light, and I think I might have welcomed the addition of some leafy of grassy notes to the scent just to balance out the sweetness .
Still, at just £4.50 a bottle, I can't expect miracles . As always with Avon, it's a fair price for a decent product - 4 stars.
When it comes to Avon products they can be a bit hit and miss, but generally speaking from my perspective the majority of their items tend be more favourable towards the 'hit' rather than the 'miss' and in particular their fragrances rarely let me down.
When Avon launched their Ice Sheers collection in 2010 I made sure I bought all 3 of the range, mainly because I liked the sound of each individual scent and also the fact they were on an opening offer at the time made the purchase seem more financially gratifying at the time.
Having recently reviewed Delicious, this is my second Ice Sheers review which focuses on Refreshing whilst the remaining fragrance is Luscious (review to follow).
The bottle is in the same simplistic style as the other three in the collection and is in the form of a tall and slim line design. The bottle comes in one size which is a reasonable 50ml and is in the format of an EDT, which generally are not as strong as their perfume counterparts.
The colouring of the bottle starts off as a pale whitish colour with a lemon tint before amalgamating into a pale but fresh looking green colour which given the notes it contains is very appropriate.
Covering the easy to use nozzle is a yellow/green plastic lid which is both easy to remove and to also replace and stays in place as it gives a quiet and unobtrusive, but very satisfying, click when replaced. Up to press there has been no leakages or spills either as this has been living in my bag for the past month or so, so it is peace of mind to know it can be 'thrown' in a bag and be left.
So onto these notes then..
The top notes comprise of:
The heart features:

My thoughts on wearing this~
I have to say out of the three Ice Sheers perfumes that make up the collection this has to be my favourite easily. The fragrance opens with a fresh and cool Iced Melon which is very obvious in what it is. Some perfumes claim they contain certain notes and it is impossible (for me anyway) to smell them - this is not one of those fragrances as it very obvious the melon is used here as it's a crisp and slightly sweetened scent that greets the nasal passages.
The EDT continued to impress me with the heart note of Pear Sorbet. How it differs to just plain old regular pear I don't know, but after about 10 minutes of spritzing this onto my wrists and neck the fragrance became sharper and had a bit more 'tang' to it as though there is a hint of lemon used, though there is no mention of this but this is what I was picking up.
As the fragrance finally settled in came the warmth of the vanilla. The EDT seemed to transform after a while and suddenly felt much more warmer and sweeter with the vanilla as before it was quite a cool and crisp scent, but the introduction of the vanilla was a wise choice.
As mentioned this is actually my favourite out of the three Ice Sheers fragrances as it totally transforms from an initial cool scent to a warmer, sweeter and more comfortable EDT to wear (for me).
On first applying this fragrance to my wrists I thought it was a 'cold' scent and wasn't sure it would be ideal for me as to be honest I prefer warmer oriental scents which was the total opposite to what this was supposedly to be.
After the crispness of the melon and pear started to wear off the very beautiful sweetness of the vanilla started to shine through and made this into a really resplendent fragrance. I found that though it came across as a little overpowering on first spritzing, it soon 'calmed' down and after a short while had the perfect balance.
I liked the fact that even with the sweet vanilla essence, it still retained the crispness of the melon and the pear and combined together created a really stunning fragrance that is ideal for general day time wearing.
I would say this is probably not suited to wearing for evenings as it does have a nice airy, lightness to it (once it settles) and is very delicate and refined and suits wearing during the day in the Summery months perfectly.
For the money this is ideal for the warm weather. It is light and refreshing whilst still retaining a hint of warmth thanks to the vanilla and smells just delectable. It is currently on offer at £4.50 in the Avon brochure and I would highly recommend trying this as unlike some fragrances which can smell artificial, this is the complete opposite and each note has a real authentic scent to it which adds to the attraction of this.
I found that by applying a few short, sharp blasts of this early in the morning (around 8am before the school run commenced) it was still very noticeable up to 6 hours later and had complements from other mums at school at 3.30pm on my "lovely perfume" - and this was without me reapplying so was obviously detectable to others at this time.
Though it's not strong enough for my taste on an evening I will most definitely buy this again in the future for during the day as it is one of Avon's gems and therefor will probably be discontinued!
Like fresh, slightly sweet scents? Then this could be for you.
This is my favourite in the Avon Ice Sheers range. This range hasn't been out all that long, I would say perhaps 6 months at longest and I have tried all of them in the range.
The Perfume isn't that expensive anyway and the right price for this is £8, but it is on offer more for £4 which is when I bought all of these. Since I didn't know if I would like these then better to buy when on offer.
The box and bottle for this is pretty simple. Nothing fancy or expensive looking. The box is a rectangular shaped box which is a light green colour. The writing on it is simple and there is nothing that stands out on this box. The glass bottle is a rectangular shape and a frosted glass. This is also green and the Ice Sheers writing is embossed on the bottle. The lid is a simple plastic lid. The bottle is rectangular shaped also and quite tall and quite thin as well. This looks larger than 50ml in my view.
So how does this smell? It is lovely. Doesn't last all that long to be honest, but due to the price I don't mind reapplying this. I like the initial stronger scent of this, and it smells fruity and juicy. This smells of Iced Melons and perhaps other Fruity scents but the Melon is the main scent in here. I've had a few people asking what this Perfume is when i've used it and everyone seems to comment how fresh this smells. After the usual 20 minutes of this drying and warming to your skin the stronger scent is still there, but just that bit more subtle.
I would say if you spray this perhaps on your wrist for 3 squirts then the scent lasts for about 4 hours at most and then I can't smell it anymore, and by then it is pretty faint.
A really really nice Perfume. Ideal for most Perfume wearers weather it be teenagers or older. If you like fresh and refreshing Perfume which is nice and light Fruity then I recommend this one. I will continue to buy this.
As my friend is an Avon representative, she lets me sample all her perfumes for several weeks before deciding whether I'd like to buy them, and one of the perfumes I gave a long trial run to, and soon bought, was Ice Sheers Refreshing.
Ice Sheers Refreshing is one in a range of 3 Ice Sheers perfumes, the others being Ice Sheers Delicious (which is blackberry and mint scented) and Ice Sheers Luscious (which is lemon scented), both of which I've tried for a few weeks each, so I could get a full 'owners' opinion of the scent. Ice Sheers Refreshing is the only one of the trio that I liked enough to buy, though, so I can recommend it.
Ice Sheers Refreshing was selling for £5 when I tested it, as it was on special offer, but it now costs £8 for a 50ml bottle I believe. That's not too bad a price for what you get in my opinion, it's cheap enough to splash it on and not worry about the cost too much.
Like with the other Ice Sheers bottles, Refreshing is tall and made out of pale green coloured frosted glass. The words Ice Sheers look like they have been carved into the glass and this does give the bottle a very icy feel and lives up to the name. It's easy to hold and dispense, and fits into the hand nicely.
Out of the three Ice Sheers scents, this one is my favourite, with the main aroma being pear. When you first spray it on, the pear is quite subtle and it's a vanilla aroma that's more obvious instead, but after 5 minutes or so, the fruity gentle pear makes a stronger appearance, and changes the feel of the perfume.
This does feel like more of a rounded perfume than the other two Ice Sheers offerings. It's still not complicated, but there's a little more to it with the way the pear develops, the hint of vanilla and what sometimes smells like soft melon. It's a refreshing scent, true to it's name, and is a decent daytime scent that to me is the nicest of the Ice Sheers bunch.
Staying power, as with most Avon perfumes isn't brilliant, but unlike with some of them I like this enough to be bothered with reapplying. 2 hours is the most this fragrance lasts on my skin, but it's very cheap and it actually smells good so I don't mind reapplying in this case.
This is the best of the Ice Sheers trio in my opinion, which is why I bought it. It has the nicest aroma and is a little more complicated (just a bit) than the others which to me are overly simple. It's a fresh, young daytime fragrance which I like and is a decent offering from Avon and I can recommend this one!
****Ice sheers refreshing ****
Recently i bought a pile of different perfumes (cant help it honest) and this is one of the ones i got from avon.
The luscious bottle has quite a boring design and is a pale green colour with the words ice sheers written on it. The three bottles in the range look the exact same with the only difference being the colour.
From the box i was expecting the perfume to have a pear scent to it (there is a picture of a pear on the top of the box). The first scent to hit you doesnt really smell like pear(more vanilla) but the smell that lingers afterwards does. Like the other scents in this range i would describe this as a daytime perfume perhaps for the younger female. Theres something about it that makes me think of tommy girl.
I like the overall scent of this as it is like pear, melon and vanilla rolled into one- some of my favourite scents!! Again it doesnt last as long as my other perfumes but i think that it is because this is a toilette and i buy perfumes as much as i can. One of my favourite avon perfumes.
