“ Brand: Avon / Type: Fragrance / Concentration: Eau de Toilette / Gender: for women „
I had seen a few of the liiv items in the Avon brochures but had never really fancied trying any of them as they looked a bit too 'plain' and fragrance free for my liking. This all changed when I tried one of the liiv ranges two fragrances called 'Sensuality' was thought it was one of the nicest Avon scents I'd tried in a long time, so decided to hunt down it's sister fragrance 'liiv Botanicals: In Harmony' and here is my review..
The price, packaging and availability~
Firstly about the price, this is one of those products that just turns up every now and again in the brochures so the price really depends on whether it's in the main brochure or the sales pamphlet. The normal RRP price seems to be £12 though I have seen this in the reduced sales leaflet at as little as £2.99.
When I discovered my liking of the 'Sensuality' fragrance and I wanted to try this particular one it didn't seem to be around in the brochure frustratingly, but I found I did find it on Ebay, brand new for £2.50 with quite a minimal P&P so came to under £4 in total so well worth a try at that price.
The packaging is identical to Sensuality being in the same simplistic and 'natural' designed bottle which is tall and slimline. The glass is matte though on the side is a cut out leaf shape design with is transparent making the contents clearly visible, which in this case the product is clear and resembles water.
This comes in one standard size which is 50ml and is an Eau de Toilette. As it's an Avon product it's available from their website, via a rep or on Ebay.
My experience of using this~
When I discovered just how nice Sensuality was, I really wanted to see if In Harmony would be on a par or even nicer. When I managed to track it down on Ebay I was eagerly anticipating it's arrival.
When it did arrive I wasted no time in testing it out and after removing the bottle from the rather basic white box, I proceeded to spritz a small amount onto my wrists to see if I liked it! I know it sounds bizarre buying a fragrance I hadn't tested but I was so confident I would like it after liking it's sister so much.
Though there are no ingredients listed anywhere as to what exact notes are used, it does feature citrus notes, cucumber and a floral heart.
What do I think about it?~
This is an incredibly light and musky fragrance though compared to Sensuality it seems to be the more deeper of the two. It's citrus notes are very noticeable as it has a lemon tang to it when first applied, though as the scent settles there are strong mossy/musk notes which seems to domineer throughout. This supposedly has a floral heart, but to be totally honest it doesn't smell remotely of anything floral at all.
The cucumber adds a nice freshness to the proceedings and stops it from being too overpowering making it perfect as a daytime scent, which is when I tend to wear it.
Would I recommend this?~
I do actually quite like this, though it has to be said I do prefer Sensuality as it's more lighter and much more feminine. This is a pretty enough fragrance don't get me wrong, but because of the citrus and musky notes used it has a far more unisex vibe to it which isn't my sort of thing. I like a perfume to smell like a perfume and this is a little too masculine for my liking.
If I had tried In Harmony first then I would have probably been far more impressed than I actually am, but because Sensuality is up there on the pedestal I seem to have placed it on then this comes in at second place.
It's a nice enough scent and if you can get it at the sales price of under £3 as it's ideal for wearing during the Spring/ Summer months as a daytime scent. I think I might buy this again but only at the sales price if I saw it - I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to hunt it down now I have tried it. Yes it's nice enough, but there are far nicer fragrances out there waiting to be worn and I feel a tad disappointed in this.
This does score points by being an ideal daytime scent and when sprayed onto my skin in the morning it was still noticeable several hours later so has staying power. If bought in the sales pamphlet it's cheap and cheerful but you can't help wondering why it's not in the main brochure very often, which says something..
Maybe it's just me being picky but I found this to be just *okay* and not one of Avon's best efforts..
