Avon Little Red Dress Eau de Parfum
Advantages: Smells gorgeous and affordable
Disadvantages: Needs reapplying after approximately three hours
I generally stay with what I'm familiar with when in comes to perfumes and have a few designer brand firm favourites such as Estee Lauder's Beautiful and Calvin Klein's Euphoria. However, for Christmas this year I was delighted to receive a surprise package from a dear friend and inside was a number of small parcels; one of which was a 7 ml bottle of Avon's Little Red Dress Eau De Parfum, which was introduced in 2011. I must admit that the last fragrance I wore by Avon was Foxfire, which was absolutely stunning, but I'm giving away my age here when I state that it was sadly discontinued some 25+ years ago.
Whilst my glass bottle contains 7 ml of fragrance as opposed to the 50 ml full size, its appearance is almost identical with its eyes-catching contemporary square shape with a transparent plastic stopper with the large bottle offering a delicate touch of red. Although I generally opt for musky fragrances I am no stranger to floral scents due to my love of perfumes such as Anais Anais, so the fact that Little Red Dress offers floral notes most definitely tempted my nasal passages. As the eau de parfum is contained within a stopper style bottle I applied a small amount to the inside of my wrists and was immediately able to witness the opening and refreshing fruity notes of raspberry together with a delightful combination of citrusy scents.
The heart notes that greeted me some fifteen minutes or so later were those belonging to jasmine and the Bulgarian rose. I wouldn't normally opt for a rose scent within a perfume, particularly as it is generally quite a powerful and powdery aroma, but the uplifting tones of the raspberry offered the perfect accompaniment to balance out the floral strength. After approximately an hour the fragrance was transformed into a very favourable woody and musky aroma due to the delicate addition of sandalwood with the uplifting fruitiness of both the citrus and raspberry accords continuing to be very much evident. Avon has captured a totally delightful fragrance with Little Red Dress, which I had initially anticipated to be quite floral. I was pleasantly surprised at the longevity for a non designer brand eau de parfum, as I was able to witness the aroma on my skin for around three hours before requiring a further application.
This is a fragrance that is sure to appeal to women of all ages, which is more suited to daytime use, as I prefer something a little more sensuous for the evenings. Little Red Dress comes with a very affordable price tag where the full size 50 ml bottle costs just £9, as it currently on promotion with its normal price being £13. I feel a four star rating is appropriate together with a recommendation.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
