I like to try new Perfumes, but often it is more the packaging that determines weather I feel I would like the smell. You can tell a lot about the look of something like Perfume just by looking at it, but often it can end up totally different.
I was always put off with this one, as the colour of the Bottle looked so bright, and I thought it looked a bit cheap. It is a bit cheap though at the normal price of £8 for the 50ml bottle, but it is more often than not on offer for £4 which is when I decided to try it. I thought that if I didn't like it then £4 wasn't a huge amount to lose.
The box is quite square and a Bright yellow colour. The writing is in green and I can say that it stands out for it's brightness. The bottle is the same colouring and just from the colours I would say that this looks more like a teenage fragrance.
This smelt pretty Citrussy which I was expecting from the colouring. The name of this didn't give anything away and when I bought it from Avon it was described as Citrus, Floral and Fruity. Doesn't tell you much, and a strange combination of scents. I would say that this smelt like a hint of White Flowers, and some dashes of grape with a Sparkling Lemon. It is light and sparkling, and doesn't last that long. I found that I sprayed my usual 4 squirts on each bit and the scent settled down as usual after about 20 minutes, but I found after 4 hours I could hardly smell this anymore. I don't mind to keep reapplying a Perfume especially at the price of £4, but I am used to Perfumes lasting that bit longer.
I suppose the name of this Perfume is more to indicate the light scent. I think this is an ok scent, and I would use this now and again, but I wouldn't make a habit of buying a Bottle of this. It just isn't my scent.
Make Me Smile is one of a trio of "mood reflecting" perfumes by Avon. The other two are Make Me Wonder (purple) and Fire Me Up (red). The idea is to wear the fragrance that most matches your mood. I was drawn to this after rubbing my wrist and smelling the fragrance on one of the scented pages in the Avon book, and I'm afraid it is quite difficult to describe a fragrance, so bear with me. If only it was as easy as rubbing the screen of your computer monitor!
The perfume is modestly priced, and you can pick up a bottle for less than a fiver. It comes in a garish yellow glass bottle with a green plastic lid. I suppose the idea is to be funky and modern looking, but I tend to associate the colour yellow with decay and things going "off", so it didn't quite work for me! The spray mechanism does not really deliver as fine a mist as I would like, with the spray being rather concentrated in one area, which is a drawback in design.
The fragrance itself is uplifting, zesty, citrus, and feminine. It certainly matches the mood it is trying to convey. The perfume has hints of mandarin, bergamot and floral scents, so it smells very fresh and summery. I think the scent would suit a younger rather than an older person and I can imagine it appealing to tweens and teenagers more than a mature woman. That said, I am 34, and I like it! It is a fragrance that is light and refreshing, and it is lovely to spray over your feet when you get indoors to cool them down.
The only drawback of this perfume, and it is a MAJOR drawback, is that the scent does not last long at all, literally only a few minutes. It smells fime when you first spray it on, but within 10 minutes you would struggle to smell it at all. This makes it lose stars, as the whole point of wearing perfume is to smell nice. I suppose the upside is that nobody will find your scent overpowering!
Personally, I would prefer a little more out of a perfume. I would like a scent that lasts for several hours, a bottle that looks pretty on my dressing table and a more classic fragrance. That said, I suppose you get what you pay for, and Make Me Smile is perfect for freshening yourself up on a hot day, more like a cologne than a proper perfume.
I would not really bother buying this fragrance again, although my current bottle has lasted over a year now. I may let my seven year old daugther finish it off, as I think she would probably appreciate it more than I do. Yes, it makes you smile, but the fragrance does not last, and neither did my smile!
Make me smile is a fresh fruity fragrance, I have recently purchased this from my local Avon rep and I am pleased with it.
I often buy cheap fragrances to keep in my handbag for everyday use and this one is just perfect. I purchased this on offer at £3.90 and at this price you cannot go wrong!
I personally think that the smell of the fragrance is nice. It is a mixture of citrus fruit however not as good as ones I have had previously had that are meant to smell like citrus. I think the scent doesn't really seem to last as long as you would like but For the price you don't mind squirting that extra bit on. With the make me smile there are 3 in the range the other two are fire me up and make wonder, My personal favourite is make me wonder the smell is to die for and last for ages.
Overall - not the best fragrance from that range, but the at the cost of £3.90 its not worth missing or trying out for that matter.
Another Christmas present I was given with a basket of Avon goodies was a small bottle of their perfume which looked lovely and sunny in a bright yellow and green bottle, the perfume is called Make Me Smile and is part of the more youthful range of perfumes Avon have created recently.
Youthful is the correct description for this too and although it's a lovely fragrance I didn't feel it suited me terribly well. The Avon book says the notes of this perfume are citrus, floral and fruity which to me sounds lovely but the fruitiness is very vague and barely there at all. The floral tones are like bouquet of different flowery aromas which blends nicely with the subtle orangey citrus scent.
Together these scents produce a lovely sweet fragrance underneath which lies a slightly bitter aroma which is much nicer than it sounds and brings the fairly complex levels of scent together well.
It's definitely a young persons perfume in my opinion, it's quite a playful and fun scent which would suit girls and women up to around 25 years old I'd say when you will probably want a more mature perfume. It doesn't last long on the skin and I found I needed to reapply the perfume quite often over the two or three days I wore it,this is because the scent is a mild one even immediately after spraying and while it's nice and fresh I found it a little soapy smelling straight out of the bottle.
A 50ml bottle costs £8 from the Avon book, I was surprised at this as it smells like a much cheaper perfume to me and I wouldn't pay this when I can get a similar quality Charlie perfume for half this price.
Make Me Smile is a new perfume from Avon that is part of a range of three. There is Make Me Wonder, a deep purple bottle with a sultry evening fragrance in it, Fire Me Up, a firey red bottle with a gorgeous spicy scent and Make Me Smile, which is this perfume.
It comes in a sunny yellow bottle and is designed to be fresh, fruity, happy and upbeat. When I first received a scented page for this I thought this perfume would be absolutely gorgeous. In fact it was my first choice of the three new perfumes and Fire Me Up was a distant second.
When I actually received the perfume to try it, I quickly realised that it was not quite the same as the scented page I had previously fallen in love with. The sweet citrus tones are actually a little bit bitter and there is a real fresh and clean scent to this rather than the deep fruity experience I was expecting.
I think this is a nice perfume, and one that I could see some people really liking. Although it is not as sweet or fruity as I expected, it is decent quality that stays for a few hours after application. It is certainly not an all day perfume like Fire Me Up seems to be but it will last for a working day.
This is £8 for a 50ml bottle and only £4 in brochure 18. So if you think this is the sort of scent that would appeal to you then it is an ideal time to try it.
