I remember seeing this bottle in the Avon brochure when it first came out last year and at some point I got the chance to try a ‘rub and sniff’ page in the brochure and liked it and eventually ended up ordering it earlier this year.
~ Price and availability ~
It comes as a 50ml eau de parfum.
It costs £8.00 from avonshop.com, which is a saving from its recommended retail price of £14.00.
I bought mine when it was half price at just £7.00.
~ Bottle ~
The bottle was not what I expected. In the brochure it looked as though it was the shape of a pear, but I was not expecting it to be so flat. It is sort of teardrop shaped.
It has an ombre effect with the glass at the base of the bottle being a bright pink colour. The bottle has a few ruffles of pink and purple fabrics around the neck, which I think are done well.
The bottle is finished off with a lovely silver cylindrical cap with dimples on the top, which I think looks nice.
~ Scent ~
Only Imagine opens with a clean, fresh apple scent, but there are delicate, pretty florals in there as well.
It took me a few sniffs to realise that it has a likeness to DKNY’s Be Delicious. It is very refreshing and uplifting.
The top note is green apple.
The heart note is violet.
The base note is musk.
I was surprised to see that there are so few notes in this fragrance. The scent is dominated by the apple note. It is so clean and fresh it reminds me of cucumber as well.
Although I can detect a floral note I would never have guessed that it was violet and even as the fragrance wears on I don’t think it is musky at all.
DKNY have close to 50 different scents in their ‘Delicious’ range and if I was given a blind test I’d definitely say this was one of them. It doesn’t smell like a cheaper version. It doesn’t smell much different at all. It is perhaps a bit more floral than the original Be Delicious fragrance, but there are other more floral versions by DKNY that this smells the same as and for quarter of the price.
Avon have described this fragrance as romantic, which I think is incorrect. To me, it is a day time scent and one for every day wear. I don’t see what could be romantic about it.
I would buy this one again and I would recommend it. The bottle is very summery and pretty so I think it would make a nice gift. I think it is suitable for women of all ages.
The fragrance is an eau de parfum and it lasts on my skin for about 5 hours, which I think is reasonable.
'Experience the unexpected wonder and delight of sparkling green apple touched with the surprise of soft violet blossom and soft musk.'
Comes in a cellophane wrapped box.
The box is graduated in colour from beige at the top down to wine at the bottom with faint images of flowers and petals in the background.
Eau de Parfum, 50mls and made in Poland.
Contains Alcohol Denat 69.6% ethanol. Flammable.
Box has white card liner.
The bottle is smooth glass and quite heavy, being a sort of tear-drop shape but quite flat if viewed from the side. It is tinted with cream at the top down to deep pink at the base.
The bottle has silver spray top and silver pull off lid.
Around the neck of the bottle is a double layer of purple and cerise net - a bit like a ruff or clown's collar.
Full price £14 but currently £11. Previously was on sale with a free scarf.
From Fragrantica.com - 'Avon is launching a new fragrance for women, Only Imagine, composed of dashy fruit notes and delicate flowers enveloped in a sensual musk veil. The explosion of invigorating notes highlights playful femininity. Top notes of the composition accentuate refreshing and slightly sweet notes of green apple, zests of which light up charming violet notes in the very heart of the fragrance. This is the first time that 100% natural apple extract was used, and it created charming hues joined with the violet scent. The green apples and violet petals rest on a sensual veil of sot musk'.
This is a new fragrance from Avon which has only just been released so I was interested to give it a try.
Reading its description as containing apples and violets it sounded divine - just the sort of thing I would love. However it did not quite live up to its description I'm afraid.
The box and bottle are attractive enough and I like the shading on the bottle.
The frill around the neck maybe to represent flower petals or just to look feminine. It cannot be removed - unless you cut if off. It is quite pretty but does get in the way when you are trying to spray. Also I found the pull off lid stiff and awkward and the 'ruff' got in the way then as well.
When first sprayed on I found it to be quite harsh and a sharp sort of smell and definitely not 'Vibrant, Feminine and Sensual' as described by Avon.
I would have loved it if it had actually smelt of apples and violets, but if I had not known what its contents were supposed to be I would have been unable to detect what it exactly smelt of.
As I said when first sprayed on it does seem quite harsh and not at all soft and feminine. To be fair it does have quite good staying properties and two squirts on your wrists will last for at least 2-3 hours. When the first harshness subsides it is still quite sharp in my opinion. It does have a sort of floral note to it but I have yet to detect anything specific - certainly not apple. It is more of a summery sort of fragrance and I would use it but if you are buying it for the apple and violet content you will be disappointed.
I would use it in the day but it would not be one I would bother to buy again - though it might be to some peoples tastes.
Not a bad fragrance but nothing special.
If you love the smell of violets go for Impulse Romantic Spark Body Spray as it is cheaper and really does smell of violets.
4 stars - not really my sort of fragrance but some may like it.
===Would I Recommend?===
Not really but may suit some.
