**I originally reviewed this perfume as part of the gift set review on ciao so this is an updated extract**
Outspoken is a celebrity endorsed (by Fergie from the Black Eye Peas) perfume which Avon offer. A body lotion and body spray are also available.
Outspoken is an eau de parfum. It can be worn alone or layered with the matching body products for a longer lasting scent. Avon describe Outspoken as..
'A bold blend of iced berries, feminine tuberose absolute and daring black leather'
The EDP itself is presented in a black, potion like bottle with silver writing and a clear lid. It looks quite unique and stylish and I quite like it. It has an almost gothy appearance as opposed to a girly appearance.
Outspoken 50ml is currently reduced on the Avon website from £15.00 to just £10.00 - see www.avonshop.co.uk. Your local Avon rep will also be able to get hold of this EDP should you wish to buy it.
I received Outspoken as part of a gift set which I swapped with my Mum. I am a fan of celebrity perfumes but not a massive fan of Avon perfumes as a rule. This EDP falls into the higher price bracket of Avon perfumes and I feel £15.00 isn't too bad a price to pay but £10.00 is more average.
Outspoken won't be to everyones tastes. The initial spray of this perfume leads me to determine that it is quite a heavy scent which is more suited to evening wear than for a quick refresher during the day. Outspoken is quite a deep, mysterious scent which has a fresh edge. It is a confident scent and the Outspoken name is very fitting in my opinion.
After the initial, alcohol type scent has disappeared from my skin, the individual notes become noticeable. I would say Outspoken is mainly floral based and the tuberose is quite prominent - floral and slightly fresh. The iced berries add a slight sweetness to the scent and this is definitely needed to avoid the florals being too heady. The mysterious feel is offered by the black leather. Leather is a common fragrance note in aftershave but Outspoken doesn't come across as being masculine in anyway. The leather simply adds depth and confidence to what would normally come across as a typical girly scent.
Outspoken lasts well on my skin. It isn't as long lasting as a premium brand EDP but it lasts long than an EDT. Wearing alone, I can detect a subtle scent on my skin after 6-7hours. Overall Outspoken EDP is quite nice and is different from fruity/floral scents. It has character and the scent shines through well.
Having sampled all of the Outspoken products, I definitely prefer the spray and lotion for day time use and the EDP for the evening as it is much stronger and the depth of the leather comes through more prominent. Outspoken is a good EDP to wear if you want something a bit different from the norm. It is a confident, grown up scent which isn't too mature or heavy and would suit a wide range of ladies in my opinion. Whilst I favour sweet and fruity scents, this one is nice to use as an alternative.
Thanks for reading :)
I bought this perfume one day from Avon. I used to be a representative - until I moved areas - and I bought this perfume while I was still a representative so I saved a bit of money. I used to love being a rep so I wish I still was one but we already have one in the area and some of my friends are reps too so there doesn't seem much point in me being one as well. At least I can still buy the products I love fom my friends. I've put as a disadvantage that this perfume is hard to get hold of. That's because in some areas where there aren't as many representatives it can be hard to know where to buy from. You could buy online but then it would be more expensive as you would then also have to pay the delivery costs.
I'm not a huge fan of the Black Eyed Peas. I used to like their music but I'm not really big on their new albums and I'm not a huge fan of Fergie's style either. However I did like the look of this perfume because I love the colour purple, I liked the look of the bottle and overall it just really caught my eye in the brochure and made me want to buy it. So I did!
The bottle is gorgeous. It is shown in the image above. Some of the perfumes from Avon come in really boring, plain bottles but this one is quite a nice one in my opinion. I always like a nice looking perfume bottle its always a plus. The bottle contains 50ml so is a medium sized bottle.
I suppose you could say I took a bit of a risk buying this perfume as I had never smelt the fragrance before and had no idea what it was going to smell like. However I'm glad I took the risk as I really do love this perfume, the fragrance is just gorgeous.
It was described in the brochure as "features a bold blend of iced berries, contrasted with ultra-feminine tubercose absolute and daring black leather".It is also described as being "bold. daring. sexy". I agree with these statements I think it is all of these things.
This perfume was the No1 fragrance in the UK in 2010 and was also winner of the Fragrance Federation award in 2011. A lot of my friends who have bought this perfume also love it and when I used to be a representative myself I remember that it was one of the best sellers from the brochure.
After hearing all this you probably expect the perfume to be really expensive. Well you will be pleased to hear it is actually very reasonably priced at just £15 as its normal price and it has also been on offer a lot and I bought it for just £12.
Overall taking everything into consideration I would definitely recommend the perfume. It has a distinct fragrance and you can detect the iced berries in it and also the black leather. It is bold but definitely in a good way. It staying power is also good, I love it!
After seeing the numerous ads on tv, and repetitive promotions in the Avon brochure, I decided to give this eau de toilette a try. I am pretty sure I paid in the region of £14 as it was a new release, and of course with a celeb name on the bottle they can bump up the price dramatically. Overall, I would say I was very disappointed, it is not a very distinctive scent and definitely not one I would associate with Fergie from the black eyed peas : a strong woman who I would think is very outspoken. It comes in this lovely designed bottle, blue/purple with a clear lid but that is pretty much the only attractive thing about it. I don't find it unique, but bland like a lot of celeb perfumes, just another avenue for them to slap their name off something and earn big money off of it. I am not a negative person, I am aware that others love it, but personally I find the Avon perfumes such as rare gold or far away, more long term fragrances that avon offer are a much stronger and worth the money. As a result this bottle has been used only once and the bottle is gathering dust in the same position on my chest of drawers.
This is an Avon perfume but please don't be put off! This scent comes in an elegant bottle and can either be purchased as a bottled scent or as a solid scent. I decided to purchase both as I can keep the bottle on my bedside cabinet and the solid compact in my handbag.
The scent is feminine and striking. It is quite strong, so don't drown yourself in it. Instead, spray it the odd few times until you get a good whiff! You can easily top it up if you wish to. I would describe the scent as an evening scent and one suited to this time of year (mainly as it contains Iced Berries!). I love this perfume. It deodorises body odour and keeps you smelling fresh all day (or all night) long.
The scent will last you a long time. I've had my bottle for eight months now and I would say that there's still a good 40% of it left. I've had loads of compliments when wearing it and it's one of my favourite scents as it's so versatile. I also spray it in my hair and in my shoes! In fact, I spray it anywhere that needs a freshen up!
Overall this is a gorgeous perfume to say it's "made" by Avon. I would recommend it to every woman out there. It's not too girly either, so more mature women could easily get away with wearing this.
Its nice to see that Avon is still going strong and re-invetning itself with using young stars to sell their products such as Fergie. Wasn't convinced about this product when I first told about it but as an Avion representative at the time it sold like hot cakes and I not use it myself.
The packaging- Nice bottle but could be better, I like the colour as it fits in with the dark 'outspoken' theme behind be the perfume. The lid is very cute. But compare this to some of the fantastic artwork you get on perfume bottle, this is not the best.
The scent- is a heavy scent, sweet but with musty undertones. Its not as strong as other perfume such as 'Posion' but its definetly in that area. Don't think this perfume would suit all people but if you like an intenese perfume then this is for you. Its a very clean smelling perfume too. Others tell me it is long lasting but I find that it wears off and I dont notice it as the day goes on but maybe thats just me!
The price- As with all Avon scents the price is very reasonable, you can now also get some great deals on gift sets making this a great present.
I regularly buy Avon fragrances, although they don't last as long as more expensive perfumes, but for the price I have always thought they were the perfect day time scent.
I bought this as soon as it came out, and admittedly, in a growing collection of perfumes, it has sat at the back for a while. However, recently I began to use this and have had several people ask me what I am wearing (including my sister who owns it too but hadn't noticed how nice it smelt on herself!)
Although I wear this in the day, it has more depth than the other more floral numbers Avon has to offer.
The bottle design looks good on the shelf and it is one I will be sure to purchase again. Avon and Fergie have come up with a winning scent that I would recommend anyone to go out and buy.
==Avon - Outspoken by Fergie==
From time to time I come across the Avon catalogue at work and during tea break I can't help but flick through it. Many years ago my mum used to be an Avon lady so I used to get all the make up smellies and the like from Avon since she gave that up however purchases from them have been few and far between.
I really only decided to order this particular perfume I suppose because it came with a celebrity endorsement. This is silly I know but I spent years wearing Avon perfumes when I was younger and now feel I have a slight phobia of them (although most of them were perfectly acceptable and perhaps nicer than some of the more expensive celebrity ones I buy today!).
The bottle of the fragrance was rather eye catching and a lot more 'designed' than any other the other Avon perfume bottles. The wonderful nearly black purple colour makes the bottle look expensive and seductive. The shape that the bottle is makes it seem feminine yet sexy and I found the whole design very visually appealing. It also worked very well for use too as the chunky base of the perfume bottle meant it stands well on my dresser and the clear lid is easily pulled off to allow the spray to be pressed.
I paid £14 for this bottle of Outspoken which contains a good 50 ml amount. This price is comparatively cheap when you look at a lot of other celebrity perfumes that are for sale especially for the amount that you get.
To be fair when I first used the perfume I was not expecting too much from it as both the price and the fact that it was being sold by Avon was making me feel it wouldn't be up to scratch. However I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised by it. The smell of the perfume was strong but not overpowering. The first scents that are noticeable are the dark fruitiness of the blackcurrants which are contained in the top notes together with wild saffron and star fruit. The fragrance very much draws you into it and smells good enough to eat. The heart notes which are passion flower, jasmine and tuberose lift the fragrance and give it a little more depth and these key features all seem to work well together to create a wonderful scent. The base notes that linger for a very good amount of time include leather, ebony and vetiver giving yet more depth and staying power to this strangely alluring perfume.
The scent is warming and deep and has a very good staying power because of this. I have to say that I like it very much and given that it is a deep and musky fragrance the sweetness and fruitiness of the top notes give it that burst of femininity that it so very much needs. I find myself being very pleased with my purchase of this perfume from Avon and feel that it is very good value for money as it seems that a few squirts of the perfume is all you need to get the desired amount of coverage which actually goes a good way to lasting all working day.
I think for the fact that the fragrance itself is something that I personally really like and that it is both an affordable and long lasting perfume it really does have to get a top score from me! I feel 5 out of 5 stars is in order and a very high recommendation.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
Every birthday and Christmas I receive an Avon fragrance from my mother as has been the case for the past 10 years or so! On my last birthday I received a bottle of Outspoken, one of Avon's celebrity fragrances, in this case the celebrity being Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. I thought this was a slightly unusual choice for me, seeing as I'm 26 and not particularly a Black Eyed Peas fan - it seemed to me a fragrance that might be more suited to a teenage girl. My mother reassured me however, that this had become one of Avon's best selling fragrances, so I thought I'd give it a go.
The scent is packaged in a grey, silver and purple box which looks quite presentable and was nice to receive as a gift. The bottle inside, however, is not really something that I am particularly fond of. Although in some pictures I've seen, the bottle looks a nice midnight blue/deep purple, mine is black with silvery grey writing. I don't think the shape is particularly nice, being very short and fat at the base, tapering upwards with a narrower neck. The lid is clear and jewel like which gives a slightly more feminine appearance to the bottle, however I'm still not keen on the overall look.
The scent of this perfume is described on the Avon website as 'a bold blend of iced berries, feminine absolute and daring black leather'. Hmm....OK then! Iced berries, fair enough, but I've no idea what feminine absolute is, and I've never heard of leather scented perfume! I've said before that I'm no expert when it comes to perfume notes, but I'll try my best to describe how I personally think this smells...
When I first spray this, the scent is incredibly fruity. Often when you spray a scent you need to wait a while for the alcohol smell to dissipate, but I don't find that to be the case here, you can smell it clearly immediately. I'd say the main scent I can detect is blackcurrant, perhaps with a hint of something a little spicier. It's a pleasant scent, very feminine and quite intense.
I find that the top notes disappear fairly quickly and the middle notes begin to come out. They are still slightly fruity, but I'd say much sweeter with a green floral tone. Although I'm sure that makes it sound like it's quite a fresh smelling perfume, in fact I would say that it's more sweet and actually a fairly warm scent. I find it very feminine, and quite sensual, it's really not what I was expecting from this scent...given that it's linked to Fergie (does she have a last name?!) I was expecting something a little more rock chick.
Once it has completely settled and the base notes begin to come out, again I think it smells quite green but with a soft woody tone to it. At no point can I smell leather in this perfume!!
This scent can be quite strong so I tend to apply just one spray to my wrist and rub together, as well as perhaps one spray on my neck depending on my mood. If you apply too much I do find that this can be a little on the overpowering side, so it's definitely best to go easy. It also lasts well once on the skin, and I find it will linger for several hours without needing to be re-applied.
I wear this scent both during the day and at night depending on the occasion. It's quite a sensual and unusual scent, and very feminine, and I think it would probably suit women of all ages.
This eau de parfum normally retails at £14 for a 50ml bottle, but is currently on special offer at just £10.50 which I think represents excellent value. Buy from your local Avon rep or online at www.avonshop.co.uk
Overall, I definitely think this is one of Avon's better fragrances. I'm glad I received it as a gift, as I don't think I would have tried it otherwise - the Fergie link is a little off putting to me - but other than being a little on the strong side, I think this is an excellent fragrance which I would recommend.
My daughter is a big fan of Fergie from the Black eyed peas. Now this isn't exactly the role model I would want for my daughter but I suppose at that age I was obsessed with Nenah Cherry who my mum didn't think was the best role model for me.
I was sick of going into my room and finding that she had used my perfume. If I had my way she wouldn't be wearing any perfume as she is too young but all little girls seem to like to spray perfume on their selves and I remember doing exactly the same thing with exclamation and charlie when I was her age.
I bought her outspoken by Fergie for her birthday as I knew it would be something she would like and also truth be told because I hoped it meant my bottles would be safe from her sticky fingers.
I bought it from the Avon catalogue and it seems to be exclusive to them as I have never seen it in any of the usual suspects on the high street. It was only £14 for a 50 ml bottle which is a lot cheaper than some of these other celebrity scents so I have to say I thought it was quite good value considering.
The bottle is not exactly what I would call great looking. It is black and shiny and has a lid that looks just like a door handle I once seen. It is definately a little cheap and nasty looking and from seeing the bottle I understood better why it was only £12. There is some writing on it which is just the usual thing of saying the name of the perfume and that it is by Fergie. Now I quite like Fergie myself and this bottle says nothing to me about her and from looking at it I would never guess it was by her.
Now I have a real love/hate relationship with Avon and some of their products are so good but then some are absolutely terrible and as I am not generally a big fan of celebrity scents at the best of times I wasn't expecting much from this perfume.
The notes contained in it are: frozen blackcurrent, jasmine, starfruit, tuberose, ebony, leather, passionflower, passion flower and vetiver.
It is extremely potent and very strong smelling and it is difficult to make out any of the scents as it is so heavy and they seem to cancel each other out. After a little while I can smell the fruits but it isn't light or sweet in any way. This is the sort of perfume that you would wear if you wanted to make a statement and you certainly wouldn't blend into the background wearing it.
I personally wasn't very keen on it but my daughter absolutely loved it and honestly could have knocked someone out with the amount she sprayed. The 50ml bottle didn't last long as she would spray so much everyday and she begged me to get her another bottle when this one was finished.
As for longevity it is hard to say as my daughter never really gave the perfume a chance to settle before she would have it out of her bag and be spraying some more on. I tried it when it arrived and I could still smell it that night.
I would only recommend this if you like your perfumes to be really strong and distinctive. whether or not a celebrity perfume from Avon is the kind you want to be that distinctive is another matter but it definately wouldn't be one I would buy myself but for a teenager or someone in their early twenties then it would be ideal.
My girlfriend recently started as an Avon rep and thus I have been introduced to a whole range of new products in recent weeks and of all the fragrances, samplers, bottles and testers that have come through by far the most appealing on has been the new Outspoken Fragrance by Fergie or Black Eyes Peas fame.
The set currently on offer in Avon gives you this 50ml bottle together with a body wash and a rather nice body spray for £14 which is very competitively priced for a celebrity endorsed perfume.
It comes packaged in a nice purple and black gift box and when opened the bottle is very classy with a curved purple base and glass effect white top. Looks very nice indeed on the basin shelf.
But more importantly than this is of course the smell. It's a very strong perfume so if you are a fan of more subtle flavours and aromas then avoid this. From the moment you squeeze the top and the fluid comes out it hits the nostrils big style. It's a very fruity, blackberry esque smell, quite summery. It definitely has a kick to it! But please don't assume because it is so strong that it smells foul, it doesn't far from it, you just need to be careful in damaging the nostrils of the room if you use too much!
Being so strong has its good points though. Not only does the fragrance last the evening and beyond but also being such a strong perfume it also doesn't need to be used in such quantities so the 50ml bottle will last a long time. Its more of a going out perfume than something to use everyday.
All in all this is an excellent idea for a xmas gift for a woman of any age for the festive season particularly given the value.

As my friend is an Avon rep, I sometimes get given samples of the various products that they sell, one of which is a sample of Outspoken perfume, a fragrance by, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie. I don't usually buy into celebrity perfumes but as it was a freebie, I didn't complain.
The bottle isn't the most classy looking of bottles, it's very 'Avon' with a bulbous midnight blue/purple bottom leading up to a skinnier pump action spray top with a large lid, and the perfume logo printed on. Still I've seen worse perfume bottles, so it's not a major negative or anything like that. Some people will love the bottle I'm sure, I just wasn't blown away by it.
When first sprayed on a few pumps of the fragrance the scent was very strong, and there was a very definite scent of blackberries with the perfume being very fruity and zingy at first! After a short while though the fragrance dies down a lot and is replaced by a more exotic and sensual flowery smell, although it's hard to seperate individual notes. Apparently this is meant to smell like frozen berries and black leather, but I could smell nothing that fancy really, it was just an initially strong but quickly fading mix of blackberries, maybe blackcurrants and a jumble of exotic flowers. It's not an unpleasant smell, but it is a bit confusing to my nose!
After a few hours I couldn't smell the perfume on my skin at all, so in terms of staying power it's not very good. I think the trick is to apply this little and often, firstly so you don't over apply and end up overpowering yourself, and secondly to make the scent last longer.
This perfume usually costs £14.00 for a 50ml bottle, which is decent enough value, but as I said, my sample was free so I can't complain!
Outspoken is a perfume by Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas. She isn't one of my favourite celebrities but I was quite intrigued by the perfume when I saw it in the Avon catalogue. Seeing as I was ordering a couple of others I thought I may as well purchased this one as well as I had a bit of spare cash and perfumes are my obsession.
Outspoken is only available through Avon and costs £12.00 for a 50ml bottle of perfume. I thought it was pretty good value for money though I did not have high expectations seeing as it was from Avon (I never have high expectations from Avon though it is a little snobbish of me).
The perfume comes in a nice box - it is black with shiny black patterns on it. There is a purple crest above a shaped text box which is a deep purple. In this box the words "Outspoken" and "Fergie" are written. Surrounding the text box is white vine leaves. It has a very Twilight/vampire sort of feel to the box and I was quite impressed with it seeing as it as pretty cheap.
Opening the box you are greeted with the bottle. In pictures, the bottle looks very classy and sophisticated but in reality it does look a bit cheap. It looks very plastic like and is too shiny for a perfume bottle if that makes any sense. It is black in colour and has the word "Outspoken" in a curly, pretty font like on the front of the box. Just underneath it, it says "By Fergie". I hate the "By" bit. There is something about that which makes the bottle look tacky. It looks very out of place on the bottle. It has the same white vine leaves as the front of the box does. It has a silver spray nozzle and a clear diamond shaped lid. The perfume bottle itself is shaped like a vase. It is curvy. It is nice but not as nice as it should have been in reality. The perfume bottle gives away the price I think.
The perfume has the following scent notes: frozen blackcurrant, starfruit, wild saffron, tuberose, jasmine, passionflower, ebony, leather and vetiver. It is quite a heavy scent and when I first applied it, the only thing I could think of was men's aftershave. After a minute or so though, the perfume settles down and its true notes are revealed an you are left with a very sexy, seductive scent which I find reminds me alot of Britney Spear's Midnight Fantasy. The perfume is quite mysterious and it is a dark scent which the bottle depicts. It is quite romantic and I found myself to really love it. The blackcurrent, jasmine and leather come through and are very evident.
The perfume is not at all heady but it is strong.
The next thing which surprised me about this perfume was just how long it lasts on me. It lasted me all day so all in all about 8 hours. I was very impressed especially given that it is an Avon scent. I highly recommend this perfume. Do not let the fact that it is a celebrity perfume or an Avon perfume put you off because despite the let down of the bottle and it looking slightly cheap, the perfume is true class.
I have been known to have very expensive taste when it comes to perfumes so when I got the latest avon brochure through the door and saw that yet another "celeb" had released a new fragrance I wasn`t expecting much, just a churned out copy like all the rest seem to be. However my friend, who runs the avon, insisted I would like it so I ordered,it came with a free body spray and body lotion, WOW is all I can say it is really fruity with a hint of spiciness and as an extra bonus it has a long lasting scent as well.Since wearing it I have had more compliments on my smell in three weeks than I have had in the past six months with my more expensively priced "fine fragance" If anyone is looking for a new perfume then OUTSPOKEN by FERGIE is the one to buy, smells fantastic and won`t cost you the earth
I had this perfume bought for me by a friend with the body spray & the body lotion. I had seen the adverts on the tv for this and quite honestly dismissed them as just another celebrity plug for another perfume! But on recieving this as a gift I was quite impressed with the packaging and overall impressive look of the product- it is purple , black & silver & looks really quite striking.
The fragrance is deep and not for the faint hearted ie; anyone who likes the more floral blend of fragrances! Saying that as it warms to your skin it softens leaving a a beautiful & deep oriental aroma of orchids & musk. I personally use this perfume for all occasions as I love bold fragrances, but some may find it too overpowering for daily use & perhaps just use it for nights out .
If you like fragrances such as Opium by Yves Saint Laurent or Black Orchid by Tom Ford you will love this !
I would not wear the full trio together during the day though as this is too overpowering even for me! - but lovely on a night out as you consistently get a waft of full on sexyness wherever you are .
All in all for the price of the perfume either from Avon or through Ebay it is very, very reasonable for such a professionally produced fragrance that looks and smells devine.I will certainly be purchasing this myself once it runs out.
