Avon Soft Musk Eau de Toillette
I really don't know how I came to have this bottle of musk eau de toilette in my cache of stuff but as I have been sparying it liberally over the last few weeks I thought maybe I might give my thoughts about this.
It comes in a musky pink box which is failry plain and inside the glass bottle is also plain in an oval squashed sort of shape. The lid is plain pink and the whole thing looks quite cheap and basic in my view. It certainly would not be one to jump out and say 'Buy me' if I saw it on the shelf. I think this is an Avon classic though I have never tried it before and it certainly isn't one I will be rushing to buy again.
It sprays well from the bottle and you get a decent amount of eau de toilette coming out. I find I need to give lots of squirts to get enough scent from this to actually enable me to smell anything on me. It does however make the bathroom smell quite pleasant when I have finished squirting it over me and my clothes.
I like musky perfumes. I do try and avoid any that even might have natural musk from animals but I do like the note it adds to a perfume. I also used to like Body Shop White Musk about twenty years ago but am not so fussed now. I think this has a similar reaction for me. It is okay and I don't mind splashing it over me for everyday smelling but it isn't one I would chose to wear on a special occasion. This is what I splash on when going to Tesco or to my Homestart family as I want to smell pleasant but am not fussed about which scent.
This does smell quite nice but in a very synthetic way. It is sweet and slightly woody spicy musky when I first spray this on and it hits my nose then within five minutes I can smell very little. There is no development ans no lasting quality. My clothes even when pretty soaked in the stuff barely smell at the end of the day and I certainly wouldn't be able to tell they had been squirted in musk.
This can be bought from your Avon rep or on line for under a tenner which in my view is what it is worth. It is extremely light, slightly sweet and has virtually no lasting power at all.
If this was the first perfume from Avon that I had tried I wouldn't bother with any others but I have tried a few and some of the others are better in bot scent and lasting quality.
This looks cheap and smells cheap too in my view and I am using it up as fast as I can. It makes a pleasant freshener in the bathroom and our bedroom so I apply plenty on me and allow it to freshen the room at the same time.
Not one I will be buying a second time I am afraid.

I first wore Avon Soft Musk Eau de Toilette about 10 years ago and I still adore this scent today. If you are looking for a fragrance that is subtle and not too overpowering, then I would recommend this as a good starting base. Soft Musk is, as it says, a musk-based scent with floral top notes and is suitable for day and evening wear. It is manufactured in a clear, glass, spray-type bottle with simple lines and a pinky-peach coloured top. The bottle retails around £5-8 on the Avon website, depending on their current special offer and you can also buy its sister link-in products of the Soft Musk shower gel, talcum powder, and body spray. Often, Avon sell sets of 3 or 4 Soft Musk products for around £12, so it is worth looking for these "specials" or getting hold of an Avon Representative if you can.
Perfumes come and go in the Avon world but this one has stood the test of time and is one of their best sellers. This is quite an old-fashioned smell, so if you are in to sweeter, or more edgy fragrances, then this may not be to your liking. My only criticism of this Soft Musk is that the scent does not last for long enough and I generally have to re-apply it several times a day, compared to other Avon products which have a stronger base. Also, I would love to see this product in a smaller, handbag-sized, spray bottle, as the current bottle is rather bulky to cart round in my bag, as this is a somewhat bulky 50ml bottle. My advice is, try this fragrance when it is on special offer. One advantage of buying from Avon is their 90-day money-back guarantee. They will refund you for the product even if you have used it, so if you love soft, romantic scents, I would recommend you give Soft Musk a try. It's a beautiful scent to wear on a romantic date.
===Why I Bought This===
I am currently working my way through various Avon fragrances that I have not tried out before. This fragrance has been out since the 1980s so by Avon terms this one has really stood the test of time.
Avon is a long established direct selling network which used to sell just door-to-door but you can order directly from their website these days if you do not have a local representative handy.
Avon has 18 different brochures issued throughout the year - or their stock can be viewed online.
'Is an intimate and warm musk fragrance with additional notes of jasmine, rose, spices and vanilla.' (www.fragrantica.com)
50 ml spray bottle of eau de toilette.
Made in Poland and 77.1% ethanol and is flammable.
Comes in a graduated pink coloured box which is lined with white card.
The bottle is clear glass and is a flattish slim curved bottle.
The perfume is a pale peachy pink and the spray has a peachy pink pull off plastic lid.
Also comes in body powder and body spray.
£8.50 full price - I got it with a body spray for £5.
.Avon's website states - 'Romantic rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang with warm subtle musk tones. Floral, Musk'.
Although this fragrance has been in the catalogues for years it was not one I had tried before.
Back in the 1970s I was very fond of musk in my youth, using both sprays and oils. However I have used other perfumes over the years so it was quite a trip down memory lane to once again be smelling of musk.
Actually this musk is very true to the ones I used to use and better than I was expecting from Avon. It has a good musky aroma without being completely overpowering as some musks can be - and it did last a good few hours which is good value for the rice.
I would recommend this for anyone who likes a musky smell as it does seem a well produced perfume. However, whether I want to smell the same as I did as a teenager is another question - but that is nothing against the perfume. Although sometimes it is nice to try things from our youth and bring back memories.
As it has been on sale with Avon for so long it must have a good customer base or they would have phased it out years ago.
As with all fragrances it is a personal choice so it is a matter of trying it yourself - either have a sample or just try a bottle - you have a full money-back guarantee with Avon.
===Would I Recommend?===
Reason for purchase ~ "When you have musk, you will automatically have fragrance"
Avon Soft Musk For Women is a personal favourite that I have used on many occasions throughout the years. As Avon continually produce ever more interesting and captivating perfumes, I have tended to adopt a wider variety of these aromatic sprays. But I have recently returned to purchasing Soft Musk due to its affordability and gentle lasting fragrance.
The Product ~ "Two things make the women unforgettable, their tears and their perfume"
The fragrance comes in an unfussy 50ml container, just a simple oblong bottle with a beige plastic lid. I feel that this does not do justice to this seasoned favourite. In fact, the carafe has not been updated in years! For me though, this is a small superficial fault and in no way detracts from the contents within.
My personal usage experience ~ "The perfume is the most intense form of the memory"
The eau de toilette is infused with warm floral and spicy notes enveloped in gentle musky overtones. When I first spray the cologne, it comes out in a vast soft spritz around eight inches in spraying velocity. The first aroma that hits my senses is the heady musk overtones which soon settle into breezy vanilla and light rose. As time progresses, I can detect notes of jasmine but this doesn't last, or not noticeable after wearing the perfume for a while.
One of the most compelling reasons why I am so enthused with this lovely incense is that it leaves a lasting and appealing bouquet. I can pop a light sprinkling of the perfume on my neck, wrist and legs in the morning, yet still sense the balm there in the early evening. The scent seems to seep into my clothing without doing any harm to the fabric, only leaving a warm sensual aromatic layer.
This gorgeous perfume leaves predominantly base musk tones throughout the time of wearing but without being over-powering and woody. With soft airy floral rose notes that materialize every now and then, the nuances remain feminine, light and natural; I have never received a negative response the times I have worn this exotic perfume, though surprise when I note the name!
Recommend? ~ "A perfume which lasts is carrying the direction of the future!"
This delightful perfume has been around for approximately thirty years...I know as an early customer :~) For me, it will remain as one of my few firm favourites. The fragrance is suitable for both day and evening wear. At the continuing low price of well under £10 I feel that I am not alone in promoting this as a popular buy. In fact, its lasting over thirty years in the pages of Avon brochures speaks volumes!
Avon Soft Musk eau de toilette spray is currently available in the latest Avon campaign brochure for £6 or on a 'buy any two for £10' offer. The product can also be obtained online through www. Avon.uk.com.
Avon Soft Musk is just one of the many Avon fragrances I've been lucky enough to get to trial run for a week or two before I have to decide to whether to buy, thanks to my friend being an Avon representative, and it's one that I probably wouldn't have picked from the catalogue myself to be honest, but as it was offered I took up the chance.
A 50ml bottle of this Soft Musk eau de toilette costs £8 from the catalogue usually, which is fairly reasonable for the scent - I don't think it would be worth anything above this price, and if you can wait until it's offer it will work out better value for you. I don't think people should be paying more than £5 for this if I'm honest. If you're after a very cheap perfume from Avon and are looking to spend £8, I'd recommend getting the Ice Sheers Refreshing one instead, with a nicer pear fragrance, as I find it nicer.
The bottle, to me, is quite nondescript. It's a pale translucent colour and looks as wishy washy as the perfume itself smells, seeming to have very little effort put into the design. The perfume is cheap and it also looks it, so those of you after a nice looking bottle as well as a great scent probably won't like this! On the plus side though, it's standard shape does mean that I didn't find the bottle annoying to hold and the perfume was dispensed nicely and I didn't have any problems with it over time.
The fragrance to my nose is as Avon describes, being a fruity musky scent. I can't argue that when first sprayed and for the next 30 minutes or so, there is a gentle muskiness to the perfume, and hints of a soft fruitiness coming through, but I can't pick out any of the notes. The scent starts to fade very quickly indeed, and after an hour or so I'm struggling to smell anything but a very faint residual dry muskiness.
This is a very simple, uncomplicated perfume, and though for the price you can't expect miracles, I do expect a perfume to at least have a bit of an impact. If it was at a party, Soft Musk would utter a quiet hello then stand against the wall and be ignored for the evening. There's no wow factor, or even a nice comforting, or stimulating feeling from the fragrance, it's just a bit...well...dull.
I wore this for well over a week, reapplying regularly during the day, trying to get used to the scent and seeing if it grew on me, but at the end of the day, it failed to impress me or create a favourable opinion, despite the length of time and number of chances I gave it.
As with an awful lot of Avon perfumes, except a few very good exceptions, I find that Soft Musk just can't get a decent hold on my skin. After just over 2 hours, I can't smell it on myself, meaning that if I wanted to wear this regularly I'd be reapplying a great deal in order to keep smelling vaguely musky. For the week+ that I wore it, I was constantly reapplying the stuff, only to have it fade a few hours later. I found it was just too weak for practicality's sake.
If I were you I wouldn't bother. Some people might love the super light vanilla nature of this fragrance, but to be honest people are better off spending their money on a decent vanilla body spray instead of this eau de toilette. I've had Body sprays from Boots last a lot longer than this, and they are about £2! I won't be buying any of this fragrance I'm afraid - I gave it a good long chance, but I couldn't bring myself to like it.
Avon Soft Musk as an EDT was a fragrance I wore on and off for every day wear for a number of years many moons ago. It was a simple light smelling vanilla musk scent that I found easy to wear without being too over powering. As I recall I found the scent pleasant at times, but the more I wore it on my skin the more my love for it wore off.
I wouldn't say that Avon Soft Musk has an awful lot of refinement about it as it doesn't, is has a very basic smell to my mind. I feel it smacks of being a budget brand scent that is in many ways comparable to some of the musk based body sprays I can buy. I haven't worn Avon Soft Musk in recent times as I feel it is lacking in impact when compared to other fragrances I can buy.
The bottle that Avon Soft Musk comes in has remained very similar to when I used to use it. Last time I had a bottle of the fragrance it came in a very plain and simple clear glass bottle with a horrid beige toned plastic lid. The spray top applicator on my last bottle jammed and I had to return it half empty for a refund. I was offered a replacement but declined as I felt Avon Soft Musk was no longer for me.
I used to find that the fragrance had very little staying power when compared to other fragrances. If I sprayed the Soft Musk on in the morning I would find no trace of it what so ever after just 2 to 3 hours. This meant I had to spray some more on and I found that dried my skin too much and this was part of the reason I began to move away from using it as often.
In terms of price I feel that Soft Musk is a little over priced for what it is and how it performs when you wear it. Even at £8 for a 50ml bottle I do feel that my money would be better spent on one of the Ice Musk body sprays from the Boots Natural Collection instead, as the longevity of both is very similar. The Ice Musk is also a better scent than the Soft Musk and can be sprayed onto my skin with no drying it out, unlike the Avon product.
I feel that on the positive side the Avon Soft Musk can be mixed and matched with the other skin and body products made by Avon to match and tone in with it. In the past I had the talc, the lotion the body wash etc and they did work rather well to help extend the life of the fragrance. All these when used do add to the powdery vanilla based scent.
Avon say the fragrance is a fruity musk based scent yet I cannot recall any particular fruity tones about Soft Musk when I wore it. In the past I enjoyed the scent as it was soft and easy to wear. As I fell out with it over time due to lack of longevity and problems with it drying out my skin I feel that it won't be on my must buy list anytime soon.
As far as rating the Avon Soft Musk fragrance I feel it is rather lacking in anything special and has no where near as much going for it as other fragrances I wear now. With everything in mind I feel that I can only give Avon Soft Musk as a 2 star product, as I feel that some of the body sprays I could buy that smell similar are better value.
Musk isn't my favourite scent out there, but I like it in some ways. I used to like the Vanilla Musk scent from Boots Natural collection, but suppose it was quite sweet and maybe that bit sickly. Then again I was younger then, and when I think of some of the Perfumes I liked then I have to wonder what I was thinking.
I bought this a few months ago. I think it normally sells for £8 in Avon, then again with Avon there is offers on every other book. Often this can be half price at £4, but when I got it, it was the lowest price it has been in Avon apparently which was £3.50. I knew if I didn't like it then my gran would probably love it!
This comes in a light pink box. Very light dusky pink with the Lettering in light brown on the box. Not very eye catching and quite plain to be honest, but I just throw the boxes away. It is quite a flat box and a rectangular shape.
The bottle is quite flat as well and frosted glass. Again it is a light pink but I think the colouring mainly comes from the liquid as I think the glass is white frosted. The lid is rectangular and again quite simple looking. Just quite a boring looking bottle and I would say sort of cheap looking, but even full price it is cheap for a Perfume.
SO how does this smell? It's alright. It is a right Musky scent, but I suppose I would expect that from it being a Musk scent. It smells quite strong when first sprayed but settles down a bit when it dries on your skin, which is quite quite. The scent doesn't seem to last that long and I would say it had nearly all but faded after 5 hours. It did smell nice enough when there was just a hint on my wrists, but as always it is better when it's a stronger scent.
It's an ok scent but just not for me. I wonder if older people may like this scent better, and I like Perfumes that have more fragrances and notes in it. Just the 1 scent I find that bit boring.
Can't argue with the price if you like a scent like this. At least I have tried it, and my gran got the rest of the bottle so she is happy!
My mum has been buying this perfume for years and I rather like the fragrance, too. So I thought today that it's about time I got writing on a review all about it.
The perfume is Soft Musk and it comes in a very light pink bottle that contains 50ml. The bottle is very feminine and very simple - but I'm not saying it's a bad thing the bottle is simple because I think that's what it makes it look so appealing and so feminine. It is definitely a case of less is more.
The fragrance is soft, sensuous and romantic. It is floral and musk. You can smell this on someone when they walk past you, as it is quite a unique and distinguishable smell. I really think it is quite romantic. Although it is feminine, it isn't that girly, I think it is more of a classic sort of perfume. It smells quite expensive, and with the bottle design it looks quite expensive, too.
The normal price for this is £8. This is such a bargain! You can also buy matching products to go with the perfume, such as shower gel, body spra and shimmering body powder. In the current brochure you can get them all for only £10. Definitely recommend trying it out :)
The first time I ever used this perfume I must have been about 16 I snuck into my mothers room and tried on her clothes and her make up and perfume. From that day on I would sneak into her room to spray a squirt or two on before school or when I would be going out on a date.
My mother must have gotten tired of me using all her perfume because she bought me my own bottle of it for christmas that year. That was the first perfume that I had ever owned. It was my most cherished gift. I could not get enough of it.
Now that I am older I still use this perfume. I guess when you find a good thing you never get rid of it. Now Avon has played on this scent adding such things as vanilla and other flower scents to it how ever nothing smells as good as the original.
The name is Avon Soft Musk. I am usually not fond of musk scented perfumes as it smells rather like bug spray to me. How ever this one scent does not remind me of the bug spray that gram used when I was a child. It more reminds me off good memories and baking cookies at grams.
Now that I am grown up and have developed my own taste in perfumes I have to say that this is still one of my favorites as well as a favorite of my husbands. It seems that when ever I wear it he cant keep his hands to him self. I cant really describe how it smells as it does not smell like anything that I have ever used before it has a scent all of its own and boy does it smell so good.
I would recommend this to any one that likes to wear perfume that wont overwhelm them or the people that they are around. Once again Avon has a good product with this perfume unlike some of there other products.
My first memory of this is of my mum introducing and I have never really looked back, its part of my bag. It is fresh; womanly....the sort that would make a person look back after you have walked past however can still be used for females of all ages. The sent can be used for all occasions daily (work, mild for university, shopping etc) or for something fancy. It is fairly priced an average size for a perfume. The bottle and packaging is very girly yet simple, not really anything to marvel at but the contents proves different. It is fairly long lasting and the scent vanishes with one wash. It does not stain. My main issues is it not distributed over a large geographically especially if you unable to access the internet or dislike online shopping. I do believe the bottle could be better sculpted to draw costumers or even just to look prettier on my dressing table.
Avon Soft Musk has been around for quite some time now, so it must be a popular scent with customers. I know that quite a few customers regularly order it from me, although I have to be honest and admit that I just cannot understand why.
This perfume comes in a glass bottle with a peachy-pink plastic lid. It feels like a nice item due to the weight of the glass, but I do not think the design of the bottle is anything special. It is a spray action perfume, naturally.
Avon describe Soft Musk as being floral and musky, but I myself can only smell the musk side of things. I cannot claim to have ever smelled anything remotely floral in this scent. It is a little on the stale side, and a lot on the strong side. In fact it is so strong that one spray of this and you will not be able to smell anything else for days afterwards.
This product is not just available as an EDT, it is also available as a body powder and body lotion too if desired. For this reason, you can often purchase the EDT rather inexpensively as part of a set with the other products. The full retail price is £8, and I do not feel that this perfume is worth anywhere near that price. I have smelled nicer scents in my local pound shop.
As an Avon representative, I try to avoid giving products negative ratings and I do my best to find something positive to say about every product I review. Unfortunately, I just cannot think of anything positive to say about this one. It smells just awful. I hate having to sell this onto my customers as I always seem to wind up with this scent on my clothes after handling a box of this!
With Mother's day looming I have started shopping well in advance this year! My Mother is totally amazing and only has me to buy for her on this special day. She hasn't been at all well and with my Step-dad working away from home all week she's been so down of late. So I've decided to buy her a really nice expensive pressie for at the end of the day and give her lots of things throughout her day!
It's fair to say like everyone I'm a little strapped for cash at the moment so financially I can't go too overboard so to help me out when the little Avon catalogue arrived I looked in there for cheap little gifts and I came across this and I know she likes musk as an aroma and although she uses alot of designer fragrances I thought this would be nice for her to use in the day-times.
The bottle comes in a light pink and white box with silver writing on it. I am simply told on the front that it is Avon, Soft Musk Eau De Toilette/ En Vaporisateur. On the back (again in silver writing) I'm given some information in a foreign language I don't understand at all), ingredients are listed, size is stated (50ml), the recycle symbol is displayed, I'm told the product is made in Poland and finally contact details for Avon are given. Nice, soft and gentle box this is and is rather nice looking I think!
The bottle is like a flatish square chunky see through glass bottle with a light pink plastic lid that you can easily pull on and off and that conceals a light plastic push button sprayer and you can see the light amber liquid through it. No writing at all on the bottle as it is plain (which I like the world doesn't need to know it's Avon after all! lol) and the only other thing this has is a small white round sticky label to the base of it telling me it's Eau De Toilette and the size is again stated. All in all everything is nice and simple. I like the box and the bottle and it's perfectly nice to give away as a gift in my view!
As always with Avon not alot of information is given about this fragrance either on the packaging, website or in the catalogue and when I ordered it I simply went on the fact it's meant to smell of Soft Musk and luckily..well it does!
Now although it is called Soft Musk and it is in a well rounded and none harsh way it is strong so you don't need very many sprays of it on you. It sprays out of the bottle gently and easily and is all very straightforward to use indeed. The smell is that of musk and I'm sure I can detect a hint of warm vanilla to the proceedings too. It's very sweet but it's all very well blended as I have said and feminine and not one bit cheap smelling for something costing only £8.00! For me, personally it's a little too sweet and a little on the old age side for me. I'm approaching my 40's and I feel it's simply a little too old and simple smelling but it's nice enough and I know my Mum who is in her 60's will really appreciate this one.
It's a long laster in the bottle as you don't need much at all on to get the fragrance apparent on you and once on it stays fragrant all day long so it's a real hard worker. It's fresh, warm, suitable for daytime or night-time use and if you like the smell it isn't age specific either.
I purchased my bottle on offer (only from Avon) for the great price of £3.25 which makes it a real bargain. For 50ml it's as cheap as chips and I advise anyone who can get it for that price to get it as it's a great saving and a nice gift if you don't like it! Also available are a lot of matching products to layer the scent if you desire such as the bath and shower gel, skin softener and body spray and do look out for all three items on offer within the book to as they are quite often at bargain prices of all three products for £8.00!
Even at paying the full price of £8.00 your getting something of great quality it just comes down to is this perfume 'you' and sadly you can't test it first but if your a sweet musky type of woman there is nothing to 'hate' about this and value for money it works out totally!
Only available from Avon.
