* INTRODUCTION & PACKAGING *
When it comes to perfumes and fragrances from the Avon brand, I find they can generally be a bit hit-and-miss. I have tried out most of the perfumes from the brand over the years, and have found that some of them weren't suited to my own tastes at all, whilst others have faired slightly better....
One fragrance from Avon that appealed to me was the "Today Tomorrow Always Forever Eau De Parfum Spray" which is admittedly a bit of a mouthful, but a very attractive and sentimental name for a perfume product in my opinion. For the purposes of this review, I will abbreviate this product name to TTAF.
I have only recently tried out the fragrance for myself, and paid around £9 for the 50ml bottle which I thought was a reasonable price.
As at the present time (March 2012) the perfume is available to purchase online, directly from Avon at www.avonshop.co.uk where the normal price is £14 for the 50ml bottle. The perfume is available at a discounted price of only £10, but this offer will run for a limited time only. The perfume can also be purchased from eBay, with prices starting at around £9 plus postage costs, or from amazon (www.amazon.co.uk) where it will cost you £10 plus postage costs, but you will need to wait for up to five weeks for delivery. You can obviously also purchase the perfume directly from your local Avon representative.
The packaging is fairly simplistic, although it is not unattractive to be fair. Comprising of a pretty pale pink bottle that is a fairly sturdy 'oblong' shape, the image conveyed by the packaging is of course very feminine and quite girly. The bottle is surprisingly robust-feeling and is a lot heavier than I had first anticipated. I think the overall appearance of the packaging is extremely attractive and it struck me that the product would make a very nice gift for a friend or relative.
* THE FRAGRANCE *
This perfume is described by Avon in the following statement; "A passionate blend of bright effervescent pink pepper, orange blossom and the natural sensual warmth of skin musk" and I will admit to feeling quite concerned about the addition of orange blossom in the fragrance's composition, mainly due to a negative experience I have had with this particular scent in the past. It is true to say that I was feeling slightly cautious, and so for the first couple of times that I sprayed the fragrance, I chose to spritz a very small amount onto my skin and wanted to tread quite carefully...!
First impressions were not very good, I must admit. The strong floral top notes were far too overpowering for my own taste, and instinct told me to wash the fragrance from my skin. I persevered, and I'm glad I did, because with this scent it is very much one that really calms down once it has settled on the skin, and it does so quite quickly too...
Once the fragrance had developed a little, I found that there was quite a strong musk-like middle note within the core of this scent, and it came through the floral tones that were initially over-powering. Whilst musky scents are often too-overpowering for my own tastes, in the case of the Avon TTAF perfume I found that the musky core was much more delicate than other fragrances that I have encountered before. The musk is much softer and more subtle than I had expected, and it offered a lovely balance to the floral top notes that seemed much calmer and relaxed as a result.
I thought that the base notes were more difficult to detect individually, except for the noticeable trace of vanilla, which I can usually pick out from a dozen paces... mainly because I don't like it very much! In the case of the Avon TTAF however, the vanilla tones are so understated that they don't overpower anything or add any sort of sickly 'edge' that would otherwise put me off from the fragrance overall.
In actual fact, I find that the vanilla - and the rest of the sweet, fruity bottom notes - really compliment the floral notes in the fragrance and offer a little balance to these, so that instead of the end result becoming overly floral - and perhaps a little old-fashioned as a result - the perfume offers a fairly light, fresh fragrance that still has a floral tone, but with an understated 'sweetness' in its core that gives it a relatively contemporary feel.
I would say that this perfume is suited to either day time or night time use, which makes it more versatile than other fragrances I own that are too musky for day time wear, in my opinion.
The liquid perfume feels like a product of a fairly reasonable quality to me, and I have never experienced any sort of residue or sticky substance being left on my skin. Similarly, I have never experienced any discomfort or irritation to my sensitive skin or my eczema as a result of spraying this perfume.
In terms of longevity, I tend to find that cheaper-end or more 'budget' perfumes don't fare as well as those that are more expensive, so my expectations were quite low and at first I would take my bottle of Perceive perfume with me when I was going out and about, so that I could 'top-up' the fragrance as required.
I have found though, through experience, that this practice is not usually necessary, and the Avon TTAF scent lasts fairly well on my skin - usually around 6 hours or so. I find this time is quite average and compares with many other perfumes and scents that I wear regularly, some of which are three times the price of this one. For these reasons, I have come to the conclusion that the product is one of a fairly high quality and this makes the price feel like great value - to me, anyway.
Overall, I think that the Avon Today Tomorrow Always Forever Eau De Parfum was a very nice perfume that was beautifully packaged and offered good value for money. I thought that the fragrance was very nice once it settled on my skin and developed entirely, making it a perfume that I would definitely repurchase in the future. It would make a lovely gift for somebody special and it felt like a good quality product in my opinion.
This one definitely deserves full marks from me, and comes with a high recommendation from yours truly!
Summary: A lovely Avon perfume that I would recommend quite highly!
