This was another True Glow product I received for Christmas. I love the scent of the True Glow perfume, and also thought the matching body lotion was quite good, but I wasn't really looking forward to using the shimmer spray. I think I just thought it would be quite messy, and plus the lotion contained shimmer, so it wasn't like I needed it. The spray comes in a yellow tinted plastic bottle and has a non-aerosol pump. It's a pretty plain looking bottle, and I think the yellow colour makes it look cheap, but on a more positive note, you can see the lovely shimmer through the bottle. As I suspected, applying the spray was a little messy. I wasn't really sure where to put it, so ended up putting it on my arms and décolleté area on a night out last week. When you spray it onto your skin, it's quite runny, so you have to rub it in quickly. One or two sprays will go a long way and cover a large area of skin. The smell of the spray is pretty much the same as the perfume. The scent is actually quite orangey but also with woody undertones, and I would say it's definitely a night time sort of fragrance - a bit too heavy for daytime wear. Although the spray looks very shimmery in the bottle, I was surprised at how subtle it looked on the skin. Obviously I didn't want to look like I was covered from head to toe in glitter, but this didn't even seem to give a subtle sparkle, which was very disappointing. I decided to spray some more on to try to build up the shimmer, however despite spraying it quite liberally my skin still didn't look like I'd applied anything to it. What did happen however, was that the scent became really strong - with all the spray I'd applied the smell began to become a little bit over the top and sickly. I seem to remember that the lotion dried my skin out a little bit, but this didn't seem to have any drying effect which I suppose is one thing in its favour. A 100ml bottle of this spray costs £3.50 from your local Avon rep or online at www.avonshop.co.uk As I'm sure you can gather, I'm not going to recommend this product. Obviously a shimmer spray should be shimmery, and as this one isn't I'd say that's a pretty fatal flaw! It smells OK, and it doesn't dry the skin, but it doesn't make you shimmer either, so save your £3.50 and buy something else!
As part of the younger market that Avon is always trying to appeal to. They have certainly scored a winner with True Glow, Its that fragrance that you wear with a black dress and that you always used to pick out when you raided your mother's perfume collection. True Glow is one of my favourite Avon fragrances. In general Avon fragrances are always preferable to designer fragrances when you take cost into account. The shimmer spray is the perfect way to get the effect of the fragrance in a more subtle way and then just in case one benefit wasn't enough you get a shimmery effect as well. Which will add the sparkle factor when worn out to dinner. The bottle is a stylish colour which will look good in your bathroom cupboard. A reasonable price which gives you the same effect as a full cost fragrance. I would buy this for myself and as a gift for my friends and family.
Avon True Glow is not one of my favourite Avon fragrances I have to say first of all. It is described by Avon in their brochure as being floral and woody which I suppose is quite true. I find the scent extremely mature, probably best suited to women in their fifties and sixties, despite the range as a whole behind this fragrance being obviously aimed at a younger generation. I find the scent very watery, very bland and to be truthful just a little cheap too. It is not a fragrance I tend to recommend to people regardless of the specific product they are looking to order. This product I am reviewing here is the True Glow Radiant Shimmer Spray. It is £3.50 for a 100ml bottle or it is frequently on offer for a little bit less. In brochure 17 it is £11 for four True Glow products together plus a bag to keep them in. The idea of this spray is that you use it to give your skin a shimmering glow while applying the scent at the same time. It is easy to use but it is a little bit watery so it tends to feel a little like you are applying water and glitter mix to your skin with a glob of poor scent thrown in! The shimmer effect is not very obvious and it will not last for very long either. On the other side of things, you will unfortunately find this rather unnattractive scent will cling to you all night long.
Every fortnight my lovely Avon lady, Anita comes to my house in torrential rain, storms and snow with a catalogue. Every fortnight I gain the courage to say look I really don't want to order any more and then she gets here with her happy smile and her idol chit-chat and I feel guilt and make the vow 'well I'll just order something cheap' lol The reason for not wanting to order is simple really. I find that usually I can shop around and get better in the shops of names I really trust. Instead as a brand snob I always feel not great bout my purchases from Avon and the biggest reason for my dislike is because of the lack of information Avon give us. I've had some products with no instructions. Like for an example I had purchased some pedi care foot peel pads. I was so excited and I couldn't wait to whip them out and shave off the ton of hard skin off my feet. I took them out the tub and they have got two useable sides (I think). Both sides looked similar but different. Double check for instructions, nope none existent. Checked website and book, nope nothing. Do they work, read future review lol So now I stick to as I said basic cheap stuff! Cant go wrong with a body spray and that's basically how I come to own this one! What is it? Its called Trueglow Radiant Shimmer Skin Spray. Packaging.... Its a 100ml recyclable plastic spray bottle. From what I can make out the bottle is clear. I only say from what I can make out as the liquid inside is a yellowy/golden colour and I haven't used much yet so I'm not sure of the colour of the bottle and what makes me wonder is the sprayer is a yellowy colour. It has a safety cap which slides over the top. The labelling is orange and tells me what it is and who it's by and around the back it just says to spray all over body avoiding contact with eyes, the ingredients and its all in different languages. All in all its a nice enough bottle. Verdict.... I was quite excited at the thought of this one. I like the thought of a nice shimmery golden glow. J Lo styly on the cheap lol My instant thought was oh dear this is full of glitter. When you look at the liquid inside its kind of gloopy a bit like syrup but it does swish round easy . Its as I stated earlier in this review a yellowy/gold colour and its slightly indecent. The glittery particles are very, well glittery lol. Now I'm 33 and I don't want to look like a left over Christmas decoration and I'm aware that in the past I have used glitter sprays and what happens is the glitter dries and whoever you come into contact with gets caked in the stuff if you go anywhere near them. I hate that. Its makes me a grump. So I have my shower and and thought I better give this one a go. I never just pick a product up and use it and go out or anything, I always doa trial on it first as I'm so fussy lol Now the fragrance is really, really nice. It's sort of musky with a sweet undertone. It's hard to describe and there's no other descriptions of it anywhere to help me! All can say is that it's very summery. It's not harsh or in your face but very clean smelling. The fragrance lasts all day long and it's sophisticated and not cheap which surprised me for a shimmer spray. Neither is it 'girly' it happens to be quite ladylike and mature! It comes out of the bottle easily in fine mist per push rather than an aerosol so you control it. Anyway I spray it on near a window and I can see particles of glitter going towards my body! However no glitter can be seen on me. Any 'trueglow'? No! there was a hint of nothing at all. I did notice as the day went on that particles of glitter ingrained themselves into my clothes but as for being on my body and giving me a glow it didn't. However Avon never made that claim. Avon made no claim at all! Clever people at Avon when you come to think of it lol All in all it's a nice, fragranced body spray but for me a no go. I don't like rubbish bits of glitter on my clothes. It did nothing for me and if I want a nice body spray I'll buy one not a shimmer spray that doesn't shimmer. Also shimmer sprays don't have to contain glitter so this should be called a glitter spray but then it isn't one of them neither. Confused? Me too lol I wouldn't say don't buy this product, I mean we are all different but for me it was a waste of my money! If I want a nice smelling body spray, I shall buy one but with no glitter in it that makes me feel a bit grimy! On the plus point when I washed my clothes at normal temperatures it did come out easy! £3.50, but usually on some kind of offer!
