“ Brand: Emmanuel Ungaro / Type: Fragrance / Concentration: Eau de Parfum / Gender: for women „
---Why I Bought This---
I tend to have a lot of Avon products and I know one lady in the village who will wear nothing bar this fragrance. I had also tried the small tester bottles and found them very pleasant - so then thought I would go for the full bottle.
U for Ungaro was launched in 2008 in collaboration between Avon and Emanuel Ungaro. Reese Witherspoon was used for the promotions.
Avon promoted this as an 'alluring scent made up of fresh blossoming florals surrounded by sensual blonde woods'.
'Top Notes: Bergamot, wet freesia and pepper blossom.
Middle Notes: Acacia, lotus flower and osmanthus.
Base Notes: Orris, creamy sandalwood and sensual musk.'
The perfume comes in a pink metallic cardboard box which is embossed with a pattern of 'u's.
Said to be 'effortlessly chic, intrigingly sensual. Fresh blossoming florals surrounded by sensual blonde wood'
50 ml spray bottle.
Contains alcohol and is made in Poland.
Box sealed in clear sellophane wrap.
Inside of the box is white with design of pink 'u's - there is also an inner lining of pink card.
The bottle is clear glass to reveal the pale pink perfume.
The aerosole section is silver colour and the cap is thick good quality clear plastic embossed with a 'u'.
Down the back of the bottle is a line of pink 'u's.
The front of the bottle is emblazoned with 'U by Ungaro' in silver.
The bottle is narrower at the centre.
---Price & Availability---
£12 - but now being sold off to representatives at Avon as it is discontinued - the full price I believe was £20-22.
Can still be bought for under £15 on Ebay as can the small sample bottles which are great for carrying in your handbag.
To begin with this perfume gives the impression of being expensive - it comes wrapped in cellophane and the box is good quality cardboard and nicely designed.
The inner sleeve of pink card is very pretty and bottle's slimline shape is trendy.
the narrower 'waist' to the bottle makes it very easy to pick up and grip and the clear plastic lid is good and strong and expensive feeling (as opposed to some other Avon fragrances I have reviewed!).
Now to the perfume itself - I tend to just put on two squirts - one on each wrist - these tend to last around 10 hours which is great - I would probably re-apply if I was going out somewhere in the evening.
This is a light type of fragrance and not at all heavy or cloying.
It is refreshing and slightly floral - without being too flowery. It is a great all day and evening perfume and is not overpowering, but the fragrance does last very well.
It is said to contain musk but I do not really notice that part at all.
I do not think this isi a fragrance that anyone would actually dislike -and it has a good band of followers on the internet who rave over it.
Being so light and delicate I think it would suit most ages - but is not too frumpy for the younger generation.
All in all a pleasant frarance that I enjoy wearing - but I would not think it was worth the full price and it would not really be one of my all time favourites.
3 stars - Quite nice perfume but not worth the full price.
---Would I Recommend?---
Yes - but only at reduced prices.
A couple of years ago I worked as an Avon rep and as such I used to get sent sample cards to give out to customers and encourage them to purchase, one of the sample cards was for U by Ungaro. The card didn't give much idea of how it would smell on you (I think perfumes smell different on card than skin) but it was enough to make me order a bottle.
The perfume was an expensive one for Avon at £22 a bottle and I wouldn't normally have spent this much on a bottle from what I regarded at the time to be a cheap perfume company. The perfume was released about the time Reese Witherspoon became the face of Avon and was followed up a couple of months later with a mens version. Unfortunately this perfume has now been discontinued and I must say I for one am not impressed as this is one I would have kept buying.
The bottle was made of glass and sleek in style, the perfume inside was pink which was a nightmare as my eldest is pink daft and would always try and pinch my perfume. I personally think the bottle is shaped like an apple core wider at the bottom and top and curved in to the middle, there is a small plastic top on the bottle which is see through with a slight pink tint so doesn't take your attention away from the bottle. The bottle has the logo of the perfume in silver on the front and I think it looks very attractive, expensive and is certainly eye catching.
Delicious is the word I would use, the perfume is light and floral but has a musky smell to it too. The perfume isn't too strong so isn't overpowering although I will admit it doesn't last all day although if you layer it with the shower gel and body lotion it does last longer. When I wear this perfume I get quite a few compliments and even my Mam bought herself a bottle after smelling it on me. I love this perfume my only issue is that I don't have much left and can't get hold of it anymore therefore bit pointless to say I would recommend it but I most certainly wood and I am going to start scouring Ebay for it.
I love this fragrance. I have a number of perfumes that have been acquired from Avon over the years and only a couple have really held their mark. However this was something else.
I thought I would try the sample out first. Give it a test run so to speak and I was so glad I did. I wore it to work of all places and the amount of compliments just kept rolling in. Quite fresh and not overly floral. It isn't the kind of fragrance that gets up your nose when sitting on a bus. Just pleasant undertones that tend to drift up from time to time.
The only real down side was the fragrance seemed to wear off through out the day, and quite quickly. It wasn't until putting a scarf on the other day I realised just how much it seems to seep into clothing. It wasn't a stale smell as can sometime happen, but if you happen to be wearing a different fragrance at the time it become over powering. Make sure you wash all scarfs and coats when needed.
I was given a bottle of U by Ungaro for my birthday and loved it straight away even though the fragrance is a bit older than I'd usually wear. It's one of the designer perfumes that Avon have started selling and I think it's gorgeous and worth the £22.00 it costs.
It comes in a tall thin pink bottle that looks proper girly and stands out lovely against all my other perfume bottles, it's a spray perfume like most of Avon's perfumes and the spray comes out in a fine mist that makes it easy to apply all over but without making the smell too overpowering like you're going for a job on a perfume counter.
It's a lovely floral perfume that is one of the very few perfumes where even I can make out the different levels of the perfume as it settles down on my skin and I haven't got a very good nose for stuff like that usually! It's very fresh when you first spray it on and I was just starting to think that it's a bit subtle for me when it settled a bit and started getting a muskier smell. There are the smells of freesia, bergamot blossom and pepper blossom and these are the top notes and I assume they are what gives me the gorgeous fresh flowery smell because I can't pick them out individual but together they are blended very well and smell beautiful.
This changes to a blend of acacia, living lotus flower and osmanthus for the middle notes and even though I don't have a clue what any of these smell like I can definitely tell by the smell when these have come through the base notes. This is also a floral scent but the musky smell is starting to come through by now and that stops it being so fresh and it changes the smell of the perfume completely. I think it's a nice woody smell that isn't too overpowering because of the lovely musk smell that is developing.
The U perfume flips through the notes quite quickly and it will probably be the base notes you notice lingering for the longest. These are sandalwood, orris and musk and these 3 give the perfume a good staying power and they didn't fade as quick as the other smells. I think this perfume is quite long lasting on my skin and is much better than other Avon perfume I've used before where even the ones that smell nice don't last long enough and you have to keep spraying more and more on through the day. On an average day I only have to spray myself 3 times to keep the smell of the perfume strong enough to enjoy myself and I've had loads of people saying how nice my perfume is when I'm wearing U.
When this runs out I will deffo buy another bottle even though it's quite a bit dearer than other Avon perfumes even from their designer range. I'll probably look out for when it's on special offer because sometimes U is sold with a free shower gel or body lotion and that would make it better value for money because even though the perfume is so gorgeous £22.00 is a lot of money to spend on a perfume from Avon.
U by Ungaro was launched by Avon in September 2008. It is only available through Avon's website, or through a representative. It is very reasonably priced at £22, and is as good as any perfume you can buy from a perfume shop. I am forever receiving compliments when I am wearing it, and the scent lasts all day long without having to reapply. It is definitely the best Avon perfume I have tried so far!
It is florally scented, but not too overpowering, and suitable for any age range.
The bottle also looks elegant and will last for ages!
If you buy from Avon at the moment, you will receive a make up bag with free full sized samples of Cotton Candy nail polish, U by Ungaro Shower Gel, U by Ungaro body lotion, and a glazewear lipgloss in a shade called Pale Pink Shine.
I would highly recommend this perfume to anyone who likes floral scents.
This fragrance launched In Avon books a few books ago. It is only available through Avon, as it was launched for Avon. I have however seen this on e-bay though.
First of all the packaging. The box is a medium/deeper pink colour and it has a large U in silver on the front. All writing on the box is silver or black and this all stands out against the pink colour. The texture of the box looks like a Mock Croc design and although the texture of the box is sligtly ridged it is still smooth. The box makes it look quite expensive though and being a designer brand it is kind of.
The bottle is a shaped, curvy style and it goes in slightly in the middle. It has a Silver U on the bottle as well and the bottle has a slight pink sheen to it. It is see through and there is a pink U design on the back of the bottle which shines through the front.
The scent of this perfume is beautiful. It Is a fresh, slighly floral musky smell. It does smell expensive as well and it lasts throughout the day. Although the smell does fade you can still smell the lower notes later on in the evening.
The price may sound expensive at £22 for a 50ml bottle. Even some other designer perfumes are around the £18 mark, so it does sound pricy, but it is worth the money and I will buy this again.
Just now if you buy out of Avon you get a free gift. The same free gift has been out for the last 3 books, so it may not be on offer forever, but it is in the newest book which you can order in until the 5th of November and you can buy online as well. The gift is a Pink quite spacious make up bag, a pink nail varnish, pink lip gloss, a matching 150ml Shower Gel and a 150ml Body Lotion. This whole set including the perfume is meant to be worth over £40, so you may as well buy when you're getting more for your money.
A highly recommended scent. Buy through your local Avon representative or online at www.avon.uk.com
U by Ungaro is the latest Avon innovation. Only unlike the majority of Avon fragrances, this perfume has been designed exclusively for Avon and not by Avon. U by Ungaro comes from the world-renowed fashion house of Emanuel Ungaro and you can only purchase it from an Avon representative or online at the official Avon shop website.
The perfume smells absolutely gorgeous and is described as "a blend of pepper blossom, lotus flower and osmanthus laced with creamy sandalwood". I think that is an excellent description of this perfume. It is a very unusual but pleasant mixture of both cream and spice in one bottle. There is a strong sense of delicate floral about it too.
The bottle is absolutely lovely and would look smart on any dressing table. The tall pink glass bottle features a metallic pink cap and hundreds of cerise pink Us all over the bottle. It's slender and delicate which I think reflects the contents perfectly. If you are a fan of designer fragrances then I really do highly recommend this. It is feminine, light, fresh and spicy all at the same time.
This perfume makes its debut in Avon's brochure 15. It is priced at £22 but if you purchase it in the first brochure it appears in, you can get an extra bonus included in the £22 price. There is a U by Ungaro Beauty Bonus Bag being given away with every bottle purchased to celebrate the launch and these bags are adorable metallic pink cosmetic bags filled with pale pink Glazewear Extreme Shine lipgloss, Nailwear Nail Enamel in Cotton Candy and a bottle each of U by Ungaro Shower Gel and Body Lotion. That's a pretty amazing haul for £22!
