Avon Viva by Fergie Eau de Parfum
Advantages: nice bottle, good price, pleasant scent which is light and suitable for everyday use
Disadvantages: strength and longevity, smells unisex so may not appeal to all
Released : Spring 2012.
Fergie is a singer with the Black Eyed Peas. She has worked with Avon to release a collection of fragrances and today I will be discussing my views on 'Viva Fergie'. I have experience of all of the Fergie fragrances.
This particular fragrance is an eau de parfum and is described as 'floral and fresh with captivating blends of cool herbs, fierce lavender and intriguing vetiver.
I quite like the bottle design for Viva Fergie as it is different to the other Fergie fragrances that are available. The bottle is made from thick glass with a faceted appearance and has a V design on it. It is completed with a chunky lid. It looks simple and stylish but is quite heavy to carry around.
Viva Fergie EDP can be purchased from your Avon rep or from www.avonshop.co.uk. A 50ml bottle retails at £15.00 but is currently reduced to £12.00.
I was given a bottle of Viva Fergie a few weeks ago but sadly no longer have it. Due to my clumsy nature, I managed to drop my bottle in the toilets at college and one of the chunky corners of glass snapped off resulting in the pretty lilac liquid to spilled all over the floor. On the upside, the toilets smelled nice all day but I glad that it wasn't a bottle of Chanel or Dior. Anyway, in the space of a few weeks, I got to experience this pleasant but not outstanding perfume.
One or two sprays on my wrists and neck is more than enough to leave my skin scented. On initial application, there is quite a strong, cloud of scent which does have a cheap alcohol tinge to it. This aroma quickly subsides and leads the way to a lovely scent. I quite like the opening notes as it isn't your typical 'fruity top note' opening. It is fresh, crisp and clean with a herbal feel to it. It does come across as being quite unisex despite being aimed at women. I find the top notes to be very uplifting, aromatic and refreshing and I can sense a touch of mint nestled within a bed of cool, green herbs. It has a different approach from the usual fresh scents which come across as being citrusy.
The top notes don't hang around long on my skin and as the scent develops, I notice other notes becoming noticeable. The heart of Viva Fergie isn't particularly impressive in my opinion. The lavender scent is there but it comes across as being very weak and could have been more appealing had it been layered and intensified with other fragrance notes. What is evident of the lavender is light and slightly powdery with a delicate sweetness lingering the background.
The top and heart notes are short lived despite Viva Fergie opening up with quite an intense strength. After around two hours, the lavender has vanished along with the herby top notes. Viva Fergie proceeds to warm up on my skin but the lasting scent remains very close to my skin. I do like the scent that remains on my skin despite it lacking in strength. Vetiver is a fragrance note that I like and it smells lovely in Viva Fergie - sweet, warm with a natural, woody undertone. Sadly, the scent is all but gone after a further hour or so. It does seem to last a little longer on my clothes but I would expect a bit more longevity for an eau de parfum.
I do like Viva Fergie as it smells natural and is the perfect scent for everyday use as it is clean and simple. The fragrance is let down by the strength and longevity. It won't appeal to all as the scent does have a unisex twist to it at first. It definitely wouldn't smell out of place on a man. I really wish I hadn't dropped my bottle of Viva Fergie as it is a pleasant scent but not particularly special. £12.00-£15.00 is about right for an Avon perfume of this quality. I personally prefer the other Fergie scents but this one does have appeal.
Thanks for reading :)
Summary: a pleasant scent but I dropped my bottle
