I recently got a special offer three pack of Victoria Beckham perfumes as a gift and this included the Intimately Beckham Yours. The perfumes are mini bottles so mine is only 15 mls or 0.5 Fl. Oz in size however the perfume is also available to buy in bigger sized bottles starting at 30mls. I have to admit that these perfumes were not a gift I was very excited about receiving. I'm not a big Victoria Beckham fan and felt her perfume range might be low grade.
The perfumes came in different coloured boxes to distinguish them from one another and this one came in shiny gold packaging. Nothing really excites me about the packaging though and I don't feel the colour scheme or font used really reflects on anything to do with how the perfume smells.
Apparantly this perfume was produced by the Beckhams (Victoria and David) to capture the intimacy of their relationship and reflect the deep love and raging passion they feel towards each other. This is a little bit of a sickly thought to me, to be honest, although I appreciate the notion of trying to capture certain emotions and certain lifestyles in a scent.
The perfume bottle is heavy glass and is square in shape. This looks quite unique and glamorous but the shape is a bit awkward when carrying around in a handbag as it is quite broad with pointed edges. The top of the bottle is a gold cover which is stamped with a curious logo. The logo reminded me a lot of the YSL logo but I had to look at it for a long time before I realised it is the initials D.V.B combined with a fleur de lis. The logo suggests the couple are aiming towards a perfume range that they want to be taken seriously. The lid doesn't always sit well on the bottle and spins around and comes off quite easily. Underneath the dispensing nozzle is a standard metal button. The tube which feeds into the bottle extends into one corner so at the end of use you can manage to spray out every last drop.
Quite a lot of perfume is dispensed in one spray - enough to rub over both wrists or apply once to the neck. The fragrance is instant and encompassing. The perfume apparantly has notes of "fressia, pear Leaves and sparkling bergamot". The initial impact reveals that this is a very feminine perfume. The most obvious notes are intensely sweet, almost sickly sweet. This sweetness smells like sacarin and autumn fruits that have burst their skins. There is a hint of fizzy champagne and toffee apples. It feels very misty and dense due to the lower notes of sandalwood, orris and vetiver. A delicate floral heart includes notes of Orange Flower Petals, White Lily Casablanca and the exotic Frangipani flower.
This perfume did not smell like I expected it to. I imagined that all of Victoria Beckham's perfumes would be sharp and business-like, perfect for women who like to glam up. This is a much softer, more romantic perfume and to be honest it does fit with the idea of reflecting a lasting, loving relationship from the female's perspective even if I find this idea a bit mawkish. I do like the perfume although it's a lot more girly than perfumes I usually opt for. I would say this perfume would ideally suit younger women who are quite feminine in their fashion style and easygoing in their attitudes to life.
The perfume is not overpowering but after applying you can smell it on yourself for a long time afterwards. It is long lasting and other people are able to smell it on me with ease. I do feel very clean, polished and ladylike when I'm wearing this perfume. It makes me feel like I'm younger than I really am and embraces all of my female imaginings.
I am not certain I would buy this again although I've been using it regularly. I like the perfume but I don't love it and don't feel it's my signature perfume. I would, however, recommend it to other women.
David Beckham Intimately Yours Eau de Toilette Spray for Women
Intimately Yours is one of the perfumes or as it is also known, Eau de Toilette (I'm not sure if there is a difference between the two!) for women which is one of the many fragrances available in the Beckhams' range.
I chose to buy Intimately Yours for two reasons, the first being I was bored waiting for a flight at Liverpool Airport in May last year and decided to go for a walk around the gift shops, for some reason I found myself in the perfumes area killing my boredom with spraying tester bottles of perfume onto the little pieces of paper. At the time I wasn't actually intending on making a purchase however, after spraying the tester of Intimately Yours I found that the very light and summery aroma really attracted me into making a purchase. A purchase I feel the need to point out was a slight rip off as I paid £26.99 for my 50ml bottle, only to go to my local Asda a few weeks later and find the same bottle for just £14!
Intimately Yours comes packed in a very shiny gold coloured square box. Inside the box is a very simple looking square glass bottle with an equally shiny gold coloured square lid. In my opinion the bottle isn't very exciting or even pretty, but at the same time it does look quite nice sitting on our bathroom shelf. Both the box and the bottle have "Intimately Yours, Beckham" printed on them in small black lettering.
How Does It Smell?
Intimately Yours has a scent that I can only really describe as very summery. It is a very sweet smelling perfume and I find that I need only a couple of squirts to my neck area and this is sufficient to make me smell nice without overpowering anyone I am near. The scent can be smelt as I walk past people, but as far as I am aware it has never been so strong that people choke on it!
I really like the smell of Intimately Yours as when I spray it I automatically think of lovely fresh flowers in the spring and the sun shining brightly, which as you can imagine is a lovely thought during the cold winter months.
I wear this perfume most days as it is one of my favourites and I often receive compliments about the lovely sweet smell and how nice it is. I have had a few people ask me what scent it is I am wearing and I know of one friend who has purchased this perfume for both herself and for her mum after I wore it when I visited.
I find that if I spray Intimately Yours on myself when I get dressed in the morning, it will easily last for the best part of a working day. I find that the initial strength does wear off slightly after about 4-ish hours, however I don't find that I feel the need to re-apply the scent as it is still present but in a more subtle way and it is not until the early evening that I feel the need to re-apply this perfume.
Ok, this is a sensitive subject for me as I paid £26.99 at Liverpool Airport for my bottle only to discover that I could have bought it in Asda for a mere £14! If I hadn't discovered this price difference I would have still said the price was good as the perfume smells delicious! However, since I know how much cheaper it is in Asda I would say I was highly overcharged and I would recommend that you shop in Asda if you would like to purchase this perfume.
Would I Recommend?
Yes, I would recommend Intimately Yours, it is a lovely light scent which makes me feel very summery and happy. I wouldn't buy it in an airport as it can be bought cheaper in the local supermarket, but overall I think this perfume is great value for money (at the lower price!) and I will be buying it again when this one is finished.
Thanks for reading :)
I'm a sucker for a free gift, and combine this with a perfume and its pretty much sold! I bought a 30ml bottle of Intimately Yours for Her Eau de Toilette and received a free 150ml body lotion into the bargain, so I'm pretty pleased with myself. Not only for the free lotion, but also for the fact that I have bought a lovely warm but delicate and appealling scent.
The bottle is quite classy, it is a heavy clear glass through which you can view the lovely expensive looking gold coloured fragrance. It has a gold coloured lid embossed with the 'dvb' logo. It is a very clean and sophisticated looking bottle, which is nice for a celebrity scent as many of them look far too cheap and chatty.
Intimately Yours for Her is classed as an Oriental Floral, which I find to be quite exotic and very feminine. When you first spray this perfume you can tell that it is going to be quite sensual and warm due to some amazing top notes. This perfume opens up with very distinctive freesia, pear leaves and a sparkling bergamot which is subtle but does have impact. It smells very warm, and hints at more amazing notes to come.
The top notes give way to the exotic heart notes of frangipani flower, orange flower, and white lily casablanca. This is my favourite part of the perfume, a one which I wish would last a little longer before it dries down to the base notes of sandalwood, iris and vetiver. The base notes are very pretty, and this scent does manage to hang on to a little of the more floral notes.
I think that this perfume would be ideal for a night out, it is a little mysterious, and exotic but done in a very feminine way. It is a classy scent, there is non of the usual sickly sweetness that I now associate with the celebrity fragrance phenomenon. I would heartily recommend this perfume for any woman looking for a warm exotic grown up perfume.
It lasts pretty well for an eau de toilette, but does need topped up after a few hours.
Would I recommend this fragrance? For the price, yes definitely, and I suppose for the free gift! But seriously, this is a lovely grown up fragrance for anyone who likes floral oriental perfumes.
Again, this is only my opinion and anyone who is interested in buying this should sample it first before splurging.
