My partner has quite a collection of aftershaves, so when I spotted Beckham Signature Story for Men on offer in Semi Chem for only £9.99 for a 30ml bottle I thought I'd get some brownie points and treat him to a bottle. He has tried other Beckham fragrances in the past, and thought they were pretty good considering the price point.
This is quite a classy looking aftershave, the bottle is made out of quite a thick heavy glass. The back of the bottle is black and covered in script which can be seen from the front. It has a nice sturdy silver lid with the 'dvb' logo embossed on the top. The box is quite nice too. It has been styled to look like an envelope, its black and has a red wax looking style stamp on the front.
I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by this fragrance. I expected something a little cheap and soapy smelling, but I was totally wrong. This is a very woody fragrance quite subtle but sensual at the same time.
This fragrance opens up with top notes of violet leaves, which I have no idea as to how they smell, but I do detect a little something on top of the basil leaves which are quite green and earthy. I do get a fleeting moment where I can smell a sharp albeit brief hint of pineapple, strange as it may sound, it is rather different but in an very nice and interesting way.
Once these notes begin to mellow, a rather pleasant and comforting smell of lavender and rosemary begin to develop. This makes the scent warm but still retains a masculine quality.
But by far my favourite part of this fragrance is the full dry down, where patchouli, cedarwood and a faint hint of incense take over and make this very senusal and seductive.
I find this aftershave very interesting, it has a good mix of elements and keeps the scent alive as it takes you through its full journey from first applying to the full woody dry down.
It lasts well on the skin too, which for the price is a big surprise. Most eau de toilettes last no longer than a few hours at most, but this lingered on for much longer.
I would say this is quite a classy fragrance and wouldn't be out of place amongst some of the more expensive brands out there. Don't let the Beckhams put you off buying this, it really is worth a try.
Please try a fragrance before you go ahead and make a purchase, just in case it's not the one for you!
Having always been someone who likes to have a few different fragrances available to me a few years ago I discovered David Beckham fragrances and decided to give them a go (puting aside my worries that these would be gimicky fragrances and therefore not the nicest smelling ones).
So what of one of the newer Beckam offerings in Signature Story for men? Well this fragrance is a very fresh and crisp smelling scent that has been blended out of aromas of basil, violet leaf, pineapple, orange blossom, rosemary, lavender, cedar, incense and patchouli to give a really nice smell that is noticeable but not overpowering.
Who is it aimed at? The market for the Beckham fragrances are younger people overall but this is a fragrance that I would have no worried about getting for an uncle or my dad as I think it is actually a nice fragrance that stands up well in the market place even when the name is taken off the bottle. I am in my mid 20's and I have all of the Beckham fragrances and out of them all this is my favourite due to how fresh and crisp smelling it actually manages making it versatile in that you can have it as a daily fragrance or for out on a night out without it seeming out of place.
Excellent packaging makes this look excellent and so perfect for a gift to that man you need to buy for.
- Excellent price (RRP £29.00 for 50ml however most places you can pick this up about £10 cheaper than this)
- Fresh and crisp scent
- Very nicely packaged product
- Excellent as a purchase for yourself or for a gift
- Any occassion type frangrance
This is a really well priced fragrance that looks and smells excellent and is well worth giving a chance to for only £17 as you will normally pay about this.
