PRODUCT: This is a fruity-floral scent with the tops notes being Dragonfruit, Starfruit and American Plum. These are quite exotic fruits so I was expecting a warm and slightly summery fragrance. The heart of the perfume has notes of purple mokara orchic, queen of the night black tulip and purple peony. The way they describe these notes gives the perfume a bit of a dark and maybe slightly mysterious feel to it. The base notes to the perfume are warm amber, pathchouli and sandalwood.
The perfume bottle is the same as the ‘Heat’, ‘Heat Rush’ and ‘Wild Orchid’ perfume bottles so although it looks square at the bottoms of the bottle it’s rounded to give the bottle curves which give a feminine feel to it. The bottle is a gorgeous dark purple colour to match the box, although the colour does fade as it goes up towards the neck of the bottle which is square in shape. The top of the bottle has a silver band and it’s engraved with Beyonce’s name and the name of the perfume. The lid to the bottle has a purple tint to it and this has Beyonce’s initial engraved into it.
PRICE: I purchased the perfume on special offer from my local Boots store. A 50ml bottle will cost you around £28 at full price and a 100ml bottle will cost you £38.50.
IN USE: When you first spray the perfume there is a definite fruity scent which smells lovely, I personally think this smells more of plum than anything else. This is quite a sweet scent but this doesn’t seem to linger for long before you can smell the floral notes. The floral notes are a reasonable strength; although not too strong but this lingers for a little longer that the top notes. You can smell the slight fruity scent in amongst the floral which I like as it breaks up the floral scent a little. As the floral scent slowly fades you can really smell the warm amber, patchouli and sandalwood which I love. This gives a gorgeous finish to the perfume. I find that at least one spray on each wrist is a good strength for this perfume as it does smell quite strong; although this does disperse a little shortly after applying it.
I applied the perfume to my wrists in the morning before going to work and I could smell the scent for the majority of the day. It started to wear off in the afternoon though which was a little disappointing but I was pleased and impressed that it had lasted that long. As the scent is quite fruity I think it’s a scent that smells nicer during the summer than it does in the winter. This is a lovely evening perfume as well and I quite often wear it out during the evening when going out with my friends or boyfriend.
OVERALL: A gorgeous perfume that I will be buying again.
I received this lovely perfume as a Christmas present. I actually received the gift set which includes the body wash and body lotion also. It is of course Beyoncé Knowles perfume range and is the night fragrance to her sister perfume Heat.
It comes packaged in a gorgeous elegant purple glass bottle with ombré colour effect, it's very designer like and feminine and looks gorgeous on my dressing table, not bad for a £10 perfume. The lid is square with Beyonces name inscribed in and easily clicks on to keep the perfume atomizer secure. It is a spray bottle which makes application easy and prevents wasting perfume which is often the case with pour out bottles.
It is a sweet, fruity-floral fragrance that reminds me very much of the much more expensive perfume Angel by Thierry Mulger. I used to adore this perfume but as it was very expensive I am so pleased to have found an alternative and I honestly believe you cannot tell the difference.
The purple mokara orchid is the heart of this fragrance but there is also a noticeable sandalwood hint too.
You do not need much of this fragrance for it to go noticed, therefore a bottle will last a while, mine is about half full 8 months after receiving it and using it often. The scent also lasts all day, I can spray it in the morning and still smell it in the evenings which is amazing for a cheapish perfume. I always get compliments on the scent, everyone I wear it.
Beyonce Heat was the first fragrance by music artist, Beyonce released back in 2010.
I have read many positive reviews about the fragrance, but I seem to remember not being impressed when I smelled it in the shops.
Midnight Heat was released in 2012 off the back of Heat's success.
It is not one that I would have rushed out to try. I am not too keen on the idea of celebrity fragrances, but I recently received a sample of it when I ordered some other fragrances online.

If you are desperate you can buy the 15ml bottle on its own for 14,64 Euros from Dutch website, www.iciparisxl.nl.
~ Bottle ~
I only have a sample of this fragrance, but the full size bottle has a wide square shaped base and it curves up to a much narrower neck.
The bottom of the bottle has a deep purple colour.
The neck of the bottle is made from metal and has the word, 'Beyonce' imprinted onto it.
The bottle is the same design as the original, Heat, only it has a different colour.
I do quite like the bottle design and I think it looks better in purple than red, which is the colour of the original Heat fragrance bottle.
~ Scent ~
I found that I actually really like this scent. It is different to what I expected.
The fragrance has top notes of plum and star fruit.
The heart notes are orchid, black tulips and purple peony.
The base notes are warm amber, sandalwood and patchouli.
It has a very sweet scent, which I wasn't really expecting for a 'midnight' fragrance.
It has a definite fruitiness to it and the soft floral notes are very delicate and light.
The plum and patchouli are the notes that I can pick out most easily.
I find that this fragrance maintains its sweetness until the very end, but I think it is quite a deep fragrance. It has a mysterious powdery element to it.
I have found that it lasts around 5 hours on my skin before fading away, which is not great for an eau de parfum, but I often find sweeter scents lack staying power.
It does have quite good sillage while it lasts though and I can often smell it on myself when I am wearing it.
This is a fragrance I would consider wearing as a night time scent, but I think it is one I would be more likely to choose for during the day. It is sensual and it definitely has a mysterious edge to it, but it is quite light and delicate as well.
Although it is rather sweet I think this fragrance would appeal to more mature women as well as teens and younger women as it has depth and I think it would suit more mature women just as much as younger women.
~ Conclusion ~
I have been really impressed with this fragrance and it wasn't a sample I was particularly interested in, but now I quite fancy a full size bottle!
The bottle design is nice enough. The scent itself is sweet, sensual and deep.
I wouldn't necessarily say it was a night time fragrance and it isn't the longest lasting, but the staying power isn't too bad at around 5 hours.
I think it is suitable for women of all ages.
I would recommend this fragrance and I would definitely buy a bottle for myself.
It is reasonably priced (although I think the recommended retail price is quite expensive - you can usually find heavy discounts on celebrity perfumes though) so it would also make a nice gift.
I absolutley love this perfume as well as Beyonces others!
They are beautiful in fragrance and in packaging!
The smell lingers for ages and is so unique!
The bottle is beautiful, a lovely purple tinited glass design that looks elegant and expensive!
The price however is so reasonable and often you can get the gift sets on offer which is a bonus!!
It isnt too big or too small-just right!
And seems to last for ages too which is great!
I use mine everyday and have been for the last 3/4 weeks and still have loads left : )
It is a spray top which I think is better than pouring it on as it stops wastage!
The outer packaging looks very elegant too-a lovely purple and black box which doesnt disappoint when you open it up and see whats inside!
The smell is so nique and refreshing you can use it for everyday or special evenings out and it lsts!!
"For Beyoncé, fragrance is an essential accessory to highlight your inner radiance, confidence and sex appeal. Midnight Heat is the ultimate evening scent, sensual and enticing with just a hint of mystery." - Official Beyonce Website [beyonceparfums.com]
Plum seems to be popping up in a lot of mainstream perfume now, and MIDNIGHT HEAT opens with a dark and rich plum note. Whilst I know it's meant to be star fruit, there is a hint of what smells to me like raspberry. There is also some fig mingled in amongst the other fruit, too. The plum note is much stronger on me then the other fruit notes, so carries down to the perfume's heart and base.
I'm not able to separate any floral notes apart from a hint of rose and the peony from the sweetly powdered floral jumble heart of the fragrance, as the patchouli develops quickly and lasts for the duration of the perfume. What I think is meant to be the orchid is slightly spicy vanilla, that makes me think 'Turkish Delight'. The mix of earthy patchouli, powdery florals and rich fruits is very curious; the structure of everything here doesn't really go together on me, but the blend seems lively, and it all works together somehow.
There is no strong indication between the heart notes and the base, thanks to the constant presence of the plum and patchouli, that seems stronger then any of the other key scent notes [on me, anyway]. The sandalwood and amber are mingled closely together so it is a warm and creamy mix, that is again similar to the heart notes.
Official scent notes: plum, star fruit, orchid, black tulips, purple peony, warm amber, sandalwood and patchouli.
MIDNIGHT HEAT has better longevity then the earlier Coty/Beyonce releases; a six hour average on me. It's still not amazingly great overall - but it is very good for the price. And at least we're getting some improvement, in term of longevity, as the brand continues, unlike most of the other Coty ranges [I'm looking straight at you Kylie].
I prefer wearing this in colder weather, as the clashing scent notes are more apparent at this time of year. But considering that MIDNIGHT HEAT has some strong keynotes and a sweet drydown, it hasn't become sickly or cloying in the brief patches of mildly warmer weather we've had since I've had my bottle. However I wouldn't wear it on hot days, as I've found patchouli to be a smothering and overpowering scent.
MIDNIGHT HEAT was made as the evening wear edition of Heat, but I can comfortably wear it whenever I want [during the day, casually and for work] - over these colder months anyway, as although it is a noticeable fragrance I don't find it cloying or irritating to wear, and other people like it too, so I don't feel that it is invasive to others. In summer I think that I'd stick to using it for special occasions though, as I find it to be a bit of a statement fragrance and a bit too much for day to day wear.
I haven't been impressed by the regular Heat range [Heat Ultimate Elixir is great], so only came across MIDNIGHT HEAT as my sister received a bottle from her boyfriend's mother when she returned from America, and loves it. I wouldn't say that I love it too, but I find the clashing scent notes make this perfume addictive, as I keep wearing it, I love the feel of the different notes repelling each other.
A lovely lady in Canada sent me her unwanted bottle and I've been wearing it non-stop for the past few months, whilst I've been touching up my original review, and so far, so good. I normally dislike strong patchouli notes in fragrances, but MIDNIGHT HEAT hasn't left me with my usual migraine that normally pop up after wearing patchouli-heavy perfumes. So even if patchouli is something that you avoid, I'd still recommend trying this out.
Gift-wise: MIDNIGHT HEAT is like a mix of Heat and Heat Rush, so if someone like those perfumes then there is a good chance that they'll like this too. The only thing I'd say, is that MIDNIGHT HEAT is an older fragrance then the other two releases, so younger teens may find it to be a bit too much.
The Christmas giftset for MIDNIGHT HEAT contains a 30ml EDP, a 75ml scented body lotion and a 75ml tube of shower gel.
The MIDNIGHT HEAT giftset is only £14 in Boots, if you buy it before Thursday 22nd November. It is usually £23.50.
