What a blast from the past! I haven't seen a Natural Collection Rose and Cinnamon Body Spray for ages. I used to buy this a few years ago as a day wear body spray ,that I could spray on with no worries as to me wasting lots of pennies by doing so as it was very cheap to buy. It did cause me to sneeze and cough at times so I had to use it carefully.
As with all the Natural Collection products, I feel this had a synthetic smell to it and wasn't very natural at all, but I did like it a little and found it was fine to wear during the day. The bottle was simple and made from a clear plastic outer casing that held the body spray within it. The over all look was of a colourful but budget feel, but as this cost less than £2 to buy I wasn't expecting anything else from it.
The spray applicator that was fitted to the bottle was a little hard to press down on at times and needed a firmer pressure than when using a more expensive fragrance bottle spray. I feel that it was made from budget materials as it was a simple black plastic, so it didn't operate as smoothly as some of my other fragrance applicators have done.
I found that the rosy hints that came from the body spray were very strong when I first sprayed it onto my skin and could sometimes make me cough. As this happened frequently with this product I wouldn't say it was a complete favorite. I did find the scent pleasant when it had dried down on my skin and the cinnamon within it made it feel warm and comforting over time as it faded.
I haven't seen this amongst the Natural Collection range at Boots for some time now, as the range does change every now and then. I would possibly buy this again if I had a sniff and decided that I still liked it, but as the old blend used to make me cough a little when I sprayed this on freshly I would be a little wary. This was never a very long lasting scent so I would hope if it was revamped it may have more longevity to it.
As this had a synthetic smell to it I don't feel it had much class at all, but as a simple all over spritz to wear and add a certain amount of fragrance I feel it worked well enough. To rate this I need to take into account how well it performed when I wore it and as I had some issues with it I feel I can only award it 2 stars. I was an interesting body spray, but I cannot say it was a true favorite.
I was just searching for Boots Rose Water in order to review it, and Natural Collection Rose and Cinnamon Body Spray came up as a suggestion, so I'm going to write a quick review of it.
Natural Collection (aside from the cosmetics collection) has had a few incarnations over the years; it started off as a very varied range, with a lot of different choices of product and fragrance (usually formed of a combination of plants) for body lotions, facial washes and perhaps even haircare products; it was reminiscent of the Body Shop's old ranges, or perhaps Boots' newer Botanics brand. Then it changed to a rather more youthful selection with fewer choices of fragrance, and with each product (shower gel, body lotion, bubble bath, etc) available in each of the new fragrances. It's had yet another revamp within the last couple of years with a new selection of fragrances and new packaging.
Unfortunately the Rose and Cinnamon scent didn't survive the last revamp, and had been discontinued sometime before that; I don't think it has been available for a few years now. Reviewing it is fairly pointless, but I'm hoping that it might cause Boots to reintroduce it (unlikely)!
I have always liked the scent of rose oil, which is why I bought this fragrance. If I'd have known it was to be discontinued, I'd have stockpiled it; it was a natural spray (no aerosol), and cost around £1.50. It had a very delicate rose fragrance, with no 'burnt' undertones or petrochemical edges that occur in other rose fragrances I have tried. The cinnamon wasn't very obvious but there was a hint of it. It wasn't a terribly long-lasting fragrance on the skin, but could be reapplied liberally with such a small price-tag. The body spray itself was presented in a clear bottle with a picture of a rose and a cinnamon stick; the contents were pale pink.
I also enjoyed the Ocean Spray fragrance of this era, which has now also been discontinued. I tracked some down on eBay, though. Most of the Natural Collection fragrances now are rather brash and bold: strawberry, apple, and so forth. I suppose Rose wasn't a terribly popular fragrance amongst the target market as it's seen as rather old-fashioned.
