Advantages: smells nice, not overpowering, affordable(for a perfume)

Disadvantages: britney spears, horrible design, doesnt last all day

I've always found perfumes be a waste of money, especially celebrity ones (my mind changed when I saw Katy Perrys 'Purr' perfume which I have reviewed on here). Never would I have thought I would own a Britney Spears perfume as she not someone I am interested in at all but a friend gave me a bottle for my birthday anway (I'm guessing it was cheap on sale haha).

I have to say I do like the packaging, it comes in a black cube shaped box with a lid that has holes in that reveals the metallic pinks and blues of the bottom of the box. It seems a little outdated now as the perfume is so old but it seems to be quite classic and easily recognisable at the same time. It's pretty much just really girly and simple. I'm not a fan of the bottle too much, it's a translucent light blue shaped like a diamond with a crystal shaped lid with little pink crystal charms around the neck. I think the bottle looks really naff and cheap but again it is recognisable as Britney Spears (...so I don't tend to have it on show...).

I was actually pleasantly surprised by the smell, it wasn't anything that caught my eye(or should I say nose?) as the scent seemed to full of quite commonly used smells in other perfumes. It seemed to be quite florally but wasn't at all overpowering, very light and feminine and perfect for daywear. The description is:

'Curious by Britney Spears represents the young woman who pushes boundaries and revels in adventure. An exhilarating white floral accented with Louisiana Magnolia and wrapped in the sensuality of vanilla-infused musk.'

I don't know much about perfume smells but vanilla seems to be quite a boring and common smell to use which is why I guess so many people like it as it's straight forward and fresh and not overpowering. I wouldn't say this represents a woman who pushes boundaries and revels in adventure as it's a fairly boring smell (not unpleasant though!) and I expect women wear it just to smell nice! I also think the name doesn't fit because of the same reasons, even I could tell the smell was vanilla and I have a useless sense of smell!

Overall I think it's a nice perfume but nothing special, not being a fan of Britney Spears means it has no meaning to me either. I think the price suits it very well as I know it is nearly always on offer for £10-£20 depending on which size you buy. It's a pleasant smell but not one that I purchase myself.

Summary: A nice safe perfume good for daywear, nothing special though
