Britney Spears Radiance Eau de Parfum
Advantages: Smells pleasantly floral and sweet
Disadvantages: Is a bit too sweet - aimed at a younger audience
I would NEVER EVER go and buy a perfume with Britney's name on it because of her 'star' staus and in fact when I have tried them in shops and duty frees at the airport I have been distinctly underwhelmed by them. This was yet another mini spray sample I have been sent and I have had it in my purse for some time so thought before I threw it out I better review it.
I have used this as I always take these mini sample vials and sprays away on holiday with me. It is a great way to test perfumes and see whether they suit you and then throw away the sample bottle and you have nothing to carry home with you. They also seem to be undetected in the airport security so I find I can slip a couple in my bag for freshening up while flying as I do hate arriving jaded and smelling of plane so a quick wipe with a wet wipe cloth and spray of a mini perfume does wonders for making me feel a bit more human.
Apparently this is the star's ninth perfume though how much she actually has to do with its creation is not something I know but would imagine it is not very much. The fragrance was in fact created under the umbrella of the Elizabeth Arden brand so doubtless their perfumiers had a hand it the blending..
Mine came in a small spray with a picture of the bottle on a plastic flap. It looks pretty tacky in my view. A sort of chunky rectangular bottle with big 'jewels' or chunky blue and pink rhinestones on the outside, it looks as though the jewels have been stuck onto the glass. The lid is a largish clear diamond cut plastic knob. It comes in a rectangular silver box with jewel shapes in pink and blue forming a border on it.
I see that you can buy this in Boots for £22 for the 30ml eau de parfum, £28 for the 50ml which is pretty reasonable I suppose if you like it, the gift set is £30 for 50ml eau de parfum and a body soufflé also 50ml. I am sure there are cheaper places to buy this is you look around on line or try If EBay I'm sure someone will be selling it there. I have found it on Amazon and other internet sites for really decent prices so do look around if you fancy buying this.
NOTES AND SCENT
This is a very young light feminine blend of red berries, delicate flower petals and soft musk. Also in this eau de toilette blend you will find notes of berries, tuberose, jasmine, orange blossom, iris and musk.
The perfume does remind me again of Lacoste Touch of pink and that ilk. It is sweet and light and floral with the hint of berries. Initially when I first sprayed it on I sneezed for about five minutes so something in there had a powerful allergic reaction for me.
I think it is the not so natural alcohol scents that make me sneeze but once that calms down a bit I am able to enjoy a very fruity floral aroma which does then mature into a more tuberose , gentle subtle floral sweet scent. This is a warmer smell than the initial berries and orangey scent. I prefer it once the tuberose and iris come through as this is a calmer, warmer floral aroma. It reminds me a bit of like sparkling white grape champagne to me after the first flush of alcohol has dried down.
To describe it in poetic terms it is a bit like walking through a garden of fresh flowers of tuberose, jasmine, and drinking a glass of sparkling grapes juice. It is sugary sweet and fruity with hints of white flowers , rose and a light freshness.
I found that this lasted quite a while on me at the sweet and musky stage and four hours later I can still smell it. It also lasted on my clothes as my sleeve of my jumper smelled of this the next morning.
The sillage is not stunning as either nobody likes it or it has not been noticed while I am wearing it. Certainly no one has ever commented on my scent while wearing this where as they often do when I wear other smells.
SO WHAT DO I THINK?
I do quite like it but it is one I would think would suit a younger audience as it is very sweet and light. If I was choosing a perfume for a teen this might be one I would think of. I would happily wear it during the day or use it as I do on holiday with my other samples. I used most of this when we were away in the USA recently and I found it in my purse again the other day almost finished.
I personally would not go out and buy a celebrity perfume unless it was particularly bargainous. This is NOT a sophisticated scent in any way, it comes under the sweet, young fun category of smells I would say. I don't think anyone would ever describe this as a classy perfume but then Britney is not really a classy sort of star. She is young and bubbly and I think that this is the market this one is aimed towards.
It is far from offensive and if you like sweet florals like 'Touch of Pink ',' Couture Couture' or 'Fame' then this is similar but sweeter , fresh and light and may appeal to you.
I will not be rushing to buy the full sized version but I also didn't find this unpleasant. One that will appeal to people who like light fresh floral with a lot of sugary sweetness.
