This review is for the 30ml size Burberry Brit for Men Eau de Toilette spray. You can purchase this in larger sizes - 50ml and 100ml which are a little more economical, but I tend to buy the smaller bottles to try as it is such a waste of money if you find you don't like the odour of the fragrance.
Burberry is a British company founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry, a trained dressmaker, who opened his first store in Basingstoke, Hampshire. The company is now famous for its designer clothing range for both women and men, but became notable during World War 1 and the following years for its trenchcoat. A few years later, Burberry created its renowned check design and it is this pattern which appears on the Burberry Brit box and bottle.
The original pattern was in shades of brown, but now encompasses all colours, and the eau de toilette that I am reviewing comes in a black and grey tartan. On the front of the box, superimposed onto the famous design, is a simple white label with 'Burberry Brit for Men, Eau de Toilette Natural Spray Vaporisateur' in a clear font and the size of the contents in light grey. The reverse has another similar label detailing the company who produces the eau de toilette (Inter Parfums, 4-Rond Point des Champs Elysees, Paris) and the ingredients. I understand that since I bought this product, Burberry are to produce their fragrances 'in house' rather than license it to an outside manufacturer.
Inside the box, there is another black container in which sits the bottle of eau de toilette. The bottle is very angular and is covered in the black and grey tartan design as is the cubic plastic top which protects the silver-coloured atomizer.
The official description of the fragrance declares that it has top notes of bergamot, cardamom, green mandarin and ginger; middle notes of cedar wood, nutmeg and wild rose, and base notes of tonka bean, patchouli, oriental woodsy notes, cedar and gray musk. Now for me, just reading this description means absolutely nothing - I have no idea what a tonka bean smells like, or patchouli for that matter, and this is why I only buy the smaller sizes of fragrance so that I can find out if I like the smell of not.
When you depress the atomizer, a fine spray is released that has a quite strong, fairly sweet, distinctive smell. After a few minutes it does settle down and loses some of the 'flowery' odour and becomes more delicate and I think personally that it turns into a more musky fragrance. I like eau de toilette to last a long time (I find that some lose their effectiveness after a couple of hours) and Burberry Brit certainly has longevity. If I use it at 8am, I find that it is still noticeable at tea time. The fragrance, however, is not so strong as to be overpowering and, in my opinion, is suitable to wear for most social occasions.
You only need a couple of squirts so 30ml will last quite a long time and you can buy this size bottle for around £16 plus P&P which I think this is quite reasonable for a quality designer fragrance.
The smell of this eau de toilette may not be to everyone's taste, but I like it and I will have no hesitation in buying a larger size next time.
Burberry exists actually more than 150 years and is a true British brand so of course I had to try the fragrance out when I saw it. The Burberry Brit is a fragrance for men and available in bottles of 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. I have the 30ml bottle which was 13 pounds. Cheap and I thought it was worth it after I tried it in the shop.
Burberry brit is a fresh oriental woody fragrance The top of this fragrance consists of extracts of green mandarin, bergamot, ginger and cardamom. In the heart we find the extracts of the wild rose, nutmeg and cedar. And the basic notes are eastern wood, gray musk and Tonka bean. This fragrance is according to the manufacturer both sexy and masculine and expresses an effortless style.
Burberry Brit for Men Eau de Toilette, is colorless and has a wonderful herbaceous aroma, with an Oriental touch. It is especially in the beginning a very strong flavor, but after about fifteen minutes it settles down and there remains a great herb and woody soft scent. I love it. The Eau de Toilette comes in a smoked glass bottle, which bears the trade mark of Burberry with the squares. On the front you will only find the squares and on the back is a sticker with the ingredients and some product information. The bottle has a silver sprayer, which is hidden by a plastic cap.
It is a great spicy scent, as he is not overpowering. I think it's really a wonderful masculine scent. The smell does last long, certainly an hour or six. Two little sprays are more than enough, so this way the bottles last quite some time. I would say you definitely have to give this fragrance a try when you can because it surprised me. I expected a little bit cheap fragrance but the smell was really rich and spicy. Not bad at all.
I think Mark my fiancé has as many bottles of aftershave as I have perfume. We both really like nice fragrances and probably spend more than we should on them. Our latest purchase was a bottle of Burberry Brit for men. I got it for Mark from www.cheap smells.com. Its where we get a lot of our "smellies". The Burberry Brit was £19.35 for a 5oml bottle The recommended price is about £30.00.
I really love the bottle of this one. it's a simple oblong shape and the lid s a square of glass. The bottle is covered with a black and grey Burberry check design. I know Burberry has a bit of a "chav" reputation but I actually think the black and grey check makes this look classy and stylish.
The box is in the same black and grey tartan and has just a simple white label on the front saying what it is.
The notes fro Burberry Brit are :-
I sprayed the Burberry Britt on my hand, after a few seconds the fragrance began to appear. The ginger is very evident along with the mandarin giving it a lively citrus spicy smell. After a while I can smell the heart notes creeping in. The wild rose gives it a slightly floral sweet scent, but in no way feminine. I can also detect the cedar wood.
When the base notes develop it gives the fragrance a spicy , oriental, heavy feel. I would say that Burberry Britt is more of a spicy fragrance than anything else. it's very masculine.
When Mark wears this for work I can still smell it on him when he gets home. it's a long lasting fragrance. In my opinion Burberry Brit would be suitable for any occasion and also for any age.
I paid just under £20.00 for the Burberry Brit and in Marks and my opinion it was very good value for money. Little is needed to create a heady spicy fragrance that will last all day and into the evening.
I would give Burberry Brit more than 5 stars if I could.
I received a bottle of Burburry Brit as a gift and to begin with I was completely horrified when I opened it and saw what it was. I received it from an aunt and thought she knew I was a sophisticated classy kind of man but obviously not otherwise why would she buy me something so chavvy. The aftershave has sat in unused in a drawer since last Christmas until recently when I stumbled across it and decided to give it a try just to see what it was like.
The bottle comes designed with its very own Burberry check covering the entire bottle which was what originally put me off this in the first place but to be fair the black and grey cheque on this is a lot nicer than the brown check which is synonymous with chav culture.
The bottle itself is nice and square and feels solid and well made.
On to the scent which was the most surprising thing about this aftershave for me. When I first sprayed it I was a little apprehensive though I don't know why as even though Burberry check has been hijacked by the chavs (I blame Danielle Westbrook) the company itself is a high end one so they aren't going to send out something that smells like toilet cleaner.
I originally sprayed it and thought it was pleasant and that was it until I realised that I kept going back to sniffing my jumper where I sprayed it and thought the smell kept getting better and better as the day wore on.
The manufacturers claim that the aftershave has top notes of green mandarin, ginger and bergamot andacardamom. Heart notes of nutmeg, cedar and wild rose. The base notes are tonka bean, patchouli, oriental woodsy and grey musk.
Now I would love to tell you that I smelt all of these scents but I wouldn't be able to recognise bergamot andacardamom if someone were to shove one right up my nose.
What I can tell you is that the aftershave has a definite spicy aroma and is musky but there is something stopping it from becoming overwhelmingly masculine. This is not to say it is feminine because it isn't but it just isn't in your face manly which personally I think is a good thing as I know I am a man without having to douse myself in an overly heavy aftershave that screams it.
As I mentioned earlier the scent lingers and to me actually improves as the day wares on which I find unusual as a lot of my aftershaves have a habit of smelling nice for an hour and then I can never smell them again. I don't have that problem with this and I often can smell it coming from my clothes.
So do I like it? Well in the couple of weeks I have been using it I have nearly finished the bottle and I already have my order placed on amazon for a new one so yes I do like it quite a lot actually.
I find that it is perfect for day or night as it hits the right balance between light and heavy so it is as perfect for the office as it is for a nightclub.
Quite a few people have asked me what I am wearing and I was a little bit embarrassed to admit it was Burberry but then I realised I had nothing to be embarrassed about because it is a lovely aftershave that everyone who commented liked and why should we let the chavs have something so nice all to themselves.
The bottle I have is 50ml and I had a look online to price it and it looks as though you can buy it for around £20 to £25 so not only is it one of the nicest aftershaves out there it is also reasonably priced.
For christmas, my partner received this and I received the ladies version. So this review is from a womans point of view, and I must say I don't think it is very nice at all!!
Burberry Brit for men is the creation of perfumer Atoine Maisondieu and was released in 2004.
It is widely described as "Epitomising the modern British man, this fragrance captures a scruffy elegance and effortless style. A fresh oriental woody fragrance".
The packaging is black cardboard with the traditional Burberry check pattern on it, the glass scent bottle is also the same having the same colour and pattern, it has a spray action.
Top Notes: Green Mandarin and Ginger, Bergamot and Cardomom.
The first thing I wondered when this was sprayed was have we got our perfume packages mixed up and is this the ladies one?? Sadly, alas no it was the mens one. The initial burst reminded me of powder, quite possibly talcum powder, and was indeed cool and refreshing, but to me personally somewhat a feminine fragrance that I would maybe even consider wearing myself if I had ran out of my own scents. A lot of this fragrance does not need to be sprayed. 2 and you are probably done. Any more ansd it may get a little overbearing.
Middle Notes: Wild Rose, Cedarwood and Nutmeg.
I found the feminine smell still quite prevalent but it soon got interspersed with the woody and spiciness of nutmeg and cedarwood, cedar is lush smelling and it is detectable here after some wear.
Base Notes:Oriental Woods Accord, Grey Musk and Tonka Beans.
This was by far the best the fragrance smelt after it had settled and dried down onto the skin. The woods and the musk had a lot of staying power and actually smelt by far the most masculine this fragrance had smelt on the duration of the wear.
Would I buy this for a bloke? Personally no chance, but again each to their own, it has got some really good reviews online but just think it was far too feminine smelling.
I have to say I was given this as a gift last year for Christmas, I'm very fussy about the scents I use as some can be a little annoying on my skin. But, I totally loved this. Some scents I've used before I've used for a while and then gone off, but this one I never tired of using. It gives a very distinct sharp smell that really lasts. I all always had comments from people who I came incontact with while wearing this, asking me what the lovely smell was I was using! I usually sprayed some before going to work and I could still smell it on me on the way back home that evening. It really lingers on clothes and scarves!
I'd be very confident in suggesting this as a Christmas present or just a special treat for yourself. I love the bottle print also...
I'm sure you'll love it.
Now I am sure you are all aware of Burberry and it's connection with the chav world. You know the striped shirts and caps from the company which are worn by mostly social misfits otherwise known as chavs for some reason. I'm not sure where the name came from but that's what they are called. Burberry Brit has somehow avoided being worn by the die hard chavs.
Anyway, I am reviewing a Burberry fragrance and no I am not a chav and you may be pleased to know that this fragrance doesnt turn you in to a ''chav'' or any kind of social misfit. That's entirely up to your own behaviour regardless of what fragrance you are wearing at the time. Well here is my review of the mens fragrance Burberry Brit.
I came across this fragrance in my local Boots store a few months back and intrigued to see what it smelt like I decided to have a little spray of this as I had done with most of the fragrances I have reviewed. I then picked up a sample of this fragrance on one of those sample cards you are given when you ask for a sample in a store. I did this with reviewing Brit on dooyoo in mind.
Burberry Brit is available in all the major stockists of fragrances and You can buy a bottle of the fragrance in a number of sizes of bottles, these include 30ml, 50ml and 100ml bottles. And range from around £10 for a 30ml bottle to about £30 for a 100ml bottle which is around standard for well known fragrances from the bigger brands.
Getting on to the fragrance in question, as you can see from the picture with this review you can tell it is a Burberry fragrance by the characteristic Burberry design. Opening the box you will find a see through bottle with a stripey Burberry design and the spray is a kind of pale yellow much like urine. Thankfully this fragrance has no hint of urine and is a very pleasant blend of Ginger Accord, Bergamot and Green Mandarin, these three blend together to make an oriental scent that is right for all year round and is mainly worn by men aged between 18-40.
This is a good fragrance to use everyday as it is light enough to be at home on a night out and for just normal use around the home or the weekend shop. More and more fragrances are getting like this which is a great thing as you get use out of the product and it gives you somewhat good value considering the prices.
This eau de toillette has a great appeal to men from 18-40 as I just mentioned and it is a favourite of women who buy their partner fragrances. If you are looking for a new bottle of eau de toillette and fancy a change from your normal fragrance then you might like to try this fragrance next time you are in your local Boots, Superdrug, Perfume shop or anywhere else that sells fragrances.
This is also available in a womens version which women may like to check out if their partner or some man they know wears the mens Burberry Brit fragrance. I hope my review has been useful and if any of you check this fragrance out then send me a message with your thoughts on the fragrance.
