The fragrance

OMNIA is a nice enough scent; but it's a grower. I'd already decided what it was going to be like (I'd envisioned cookies and gingerbread men), so when it turned out to be different, I was initially disappointed. But I soon noticed how often I was reaching ... for it :)
OMNIA opens up clean, fresh and 'cool'. The saffron stood out for me. Quite a masculine start.
After 10 minutes the scent begins to warm up, thanks to the clove and cinnamon. The different notes are all blended together really well, so none of them scream out.
I love the woody base. There is a slight sweetness thanks to the chocolate, but it really is a hint; if you're looking for a chocolate based fragrance, OMNIA isn't for you.

The bottle

I'm not sure what I think about the bottle, it's like modern art; striking, but not designed to be user friendly. When I found the spray release button [same colour as the bottle], the nozzle would sometimes jam.

Other buying considerations

The biggest compliant I have is with the staying power. Simply put it's non-existant. Within two hours I couldn't smell anything, so I asked a friend what she thought of my perfume. She couldn't smell anything, other then a faint wood [she had her nose practcally in my cleavage at this point].
Being so mild it's fine to wear all year round; the scent notes won't be disagreeable either in hot or cold weather.
I'd say this is best for when you've got a special date; It's not strong enough for anyone to sniff, unless they get in closer.

My opinion

I liked it enough to finish my bottle, but for me it's not worth buying again. I expected a hell of a lot more; The notes are blended too well and two hours of staying power for a high-end EDP? And on top of that there's the matter of the hit and miss bottle.

Availability

OMNIA has been discontinued, but is still stocked on many online perfume sites, which means you'll have to buy it 'blind' [like I did].
It is sold in 25ml, 40ml and 60ml, which I like. Being slightly smaller sizes means it's less likely you'll become bored by it.
Prices for the smallest bottle are aound 15. The other two sizes are usually between £20 and £35. Read the complete review |

Bvlgari Aqva Marine Eau de Toilette
by jojo8948
My husband has just received this for his birthday, after having a small sample bottle and he really loves it, so I thought I would write a review on his behalf, and of my opinion of the fragrance.
There are quite a few fragrances from Bvlgari, and trying to tell people about it so they can buy it as a gift was a bit ... difficult, so I had to write it down for them. There is another version of this that is just called Aqua but this is the Aqua Marine fragrance.
This is one of the more expensive fragrances available. Not overly so but I would describe it as mid range price. A 100ml bottle from boots costs £55.00 and a 50ml bottle costs £41.00.
The bottle itself is quite different, and I really like that, very often I find that men's fragrances are dark bottles, or not very interesting, so the fact that it is round with a little squirter on the top makes it more interesting than most and the lovely blue/green colour perfectly matches the name.
The details of the fragrance taken from the boots website are as follows:
"Bvlgari Aqva Pour Homme Marine unfolds gradually, like the glints of iridescent light shimmering on the sea's surface. The top notes are sparkling, bright and crisp with neroli bigarade and grapefruit giving a lively freshness. The heart note of posidonia - an aquatic plant, is shared with the original Aqva Pour Homme. White cedar wood gives radiant, tactile and natural tones to the final, enveloping base notes".
Now I tend not to buy in to all the propaganda they write about perfume, mainly because I don't know a huge amount about scents and top notes. I know if I like what I smell and what it smells like.
The smell of this fragrance, when I sniffed the bottle reminded me of cold earl grey tea (in a nice way), but a bit fruity and it was very pleasant, and a refreshing smell, not harsh like some fragrances. However it smelled completely different when my husband sprayed it on himself. After a couple of minutes I gave him a good sniff and It smelled even more fruity and I could definitely smell the cedar wood.
The fragrance has pretty good staying power too, it stayed on him all day, by the end of the day you had to get quite close to smell it, but it was still there.
I personally think this is better as a day fragrance than night, as it's very subtle and fruity. I think for an evening out you might want something a bit stronger.
My husband loves this fragrance and it's strange bottle. So it made a great gift for him. I'm not it's something he would buy himself though, due to the price. Read the complete review |
