Cacharel Noa Eau de Toilette
Advantages: soft, feminine fragrance, will suit a wide range of age groups
Disadvantages: staying power is not the best ever
I got lots of lovely new fragrances for Christmas, one of which was Noa by Cacharel. My sister bought me this as it's one she wears herself and I am always telling her how much I like it.
Cacharel fragrances are well known and popular, and one of my favourite scents is also a Cacharel one - Amor Amor. Before receiving this it wasn't one I had used, other than the odd time I'd stolen a bit from my sister!
The fragrance comes in a spherical bottle which has a pearlescent plastic disc on the top. The spray button is on top of the bottle and it doesn't have a lid. Inside the actual bottle itself is a small pearl - well I say pearl, I assume it's plastic - which floats about and gives a bit of an unusual look to the perfume bottle. On the whole though, this isn't a bottle I am overly keen on, and I feel that it would look better without the plastic disc on the top, as that makes it look quite cheap.
The top notes of this fragrance (the combination of scents that can be smelled when the fragrance is first sprayed) are Freesia, Plum, Peony and White Musk.
Often when you first spray a fragrance onto your skin, the scent is overwhelmed by the fragrance of alcohol, but that's not the case here, and the scent is immediately clear and detectable. When I first spray this, I find the scent to be incredibly feminine. It's very floral and I would say the main scents to come out are the freesia and peony, with perhaps a hint of the white musk adding a bit of depth. I personally can't really detect the scent of plum in there at all. The overall impression when initially sprayed is of a very light, feminine and slightly sweet fragrance.
The middle (or heart) notes of this scent are green grass, ylang ylang, lily and rose.
I find that when the scent has settled on the skin for a while, the fragrance becomes a bit softer and actually smells slightly powdery. The scent is a mix of fresh and floral. It's mainly floral with quite a soft rose scent to it. There is a slightly fresher, greener undertone, which I guess must be the 'green grass' and the scents work together really well.
The base notes of the scent are Incense, Tonka bean, Coffee, Sandalwood and Cedar.
Reading that list above, I was quite surprised as it seems a very unusual mix! I certainly can't detect any coffee or incense in there at all. I think the Tonka bean and sandalwood are the two most prominent scents once the base notes start to come out, as this scent retains a sweetness to it, but has a slightly woody depth.
I think that this fragrance is more suited to daytime wear than evenings as it is really light and soft, and I prefer something a little deeper and sensual for evenings or special occasions. This is a scent that I wear for work a lot, as it's noticeable yet not overpowering on the skin, and I don't want to choke everyone in the office with a heavy fragrance!
I think this scent is a bit of a classic really, and I don't think it's one that is geared towards any particular age group. Myself and my sister both wear it and we're in our twenties (and in fact my sister has worn this since her teens), but I think it is one that my mother and aunties in their fifties would also wear.
The staying power of the scent is quite good, I will take a rough guess that it lasts around five to six hours. I usually apply it in the morning before work, and I do find that near to the end of my shift (which is nine hours) it has mostly worn off and needs to be re-applied.
This scent is available in three sizes, and the following prices are taken from the Boots website:
30ml - £23.00
50ml - £33.00
100ml - £47.00 (although this is currently on special offer at £35.25)
I have the 100ml size and I don't imagine it running out any time soon - in fact considering I've had it four months and use it regularly, it looks hardly touched!
Overall, I think this is a lovely scent. It's light and feminine and perfect for day time wear. If you are looking for a floral fragrance that isn't overpowering or sickly, then this is one that I would highly recommend.
Summary: Another fabulous Cacharel scent
